Very highly underrated song by the underrated talented Mark Lindsay! Thank you, Mark, for all the talent and voice brought to the Raiders! Have a safe and Happy New Year!
And as an 11 year old boy, I wanted to sing like Mark Lindsay in 1968 when this song was released. He was the epitome of “cool!” I used to dress like the Monkees. Had all the mod clothes, haircuts, etc.
Immediately thought of paperback writer. It even sounds good for the most part. Listen to "undecided man" from this group. It's also reminiscent of a Beatles masterpiece ... and it's sounds great.
Too much Talk By Mark Lindsay Read the news in the Times today...said the world is goin' round (world is goin' round) I don't care what somebody said, somebody always puts 'em down (always puts 'em down) Red or yellow, black or white Are you left-handed or are you right When you open your eyes can you see the light Do you wake up screamin' in the middle of the ni-i-i-ight Too much talk, and not enough action Do you know anybody gettin' satisfaction Everbody wonders 'bout the crowd's reaction. And the world gets better by a very small fraction. Turn around til you see a face and it won't be very long (Won't be very long) Someone soon will be in your place and it won't be very wrong (won't be very wrong) Red or yellow, black or white... Now's our chance to change the world, Change the world with love, with love... Now's our chance to change the world, Change the world with love, with love...
I really dug the Beatles from 1964 through 1966, watching them on the Ed Sullivan Show in 1964, but Paul Revere & the Raiders took their place as a fan. I was crazy about them!
@@usmc-veteran73-77 In ‘68, I was 11 and I wanted those go-go girls so bad!!! I thought Mark Lindsay was so cool and I would try to sing like him. One of the best pop/rock vocalists ever!
@@henryrogers5500 I agree Henry.. Mark had a great voice and the group a great sound. 1968, I was finally a teenager. I really miss the late 60s sound. Semper Fi from an old Marine Sergeant
Mark is a brilliant songwriter, singer and composer/vocalist! Although, I have never taken pop lyrics seriously by any pop/rock band, there was certainly some creativity there in Mark’s lyrics!
In 1968 they had changed their appearance a bit to conform more to the psychedelia that was current in pop trends. I watched them from Where the Action Is (Colonial 1776 minuteman costumes) back in 1965 through Happening ‘68 and Happening ‘69, losing complete interest by 1970. Tons of excellent material from 1965 through 1968 (when Too Much Talk was released) and some later, through 1969. 1965 through 1967 were their best years IMO.
@@60s70sVintageRock Yes, with very few exceptions, this song in 1968, but by the end of 1969 that was it for me. PR&R’s heyday was really 1965 through 1967. But Too Much Talk in 1968 was really outta sight!

This was one of their best songs, but it's almost completely forgotten today
I only relate to 71 year old teeny-boppers. Thank you.
Mark was such a doll. Every teenage girl in America dreamed about him!
When they came to my home town, we went, because I knew the place would be packed with cute girls. Thank you Mark!

They spent a lot of money on outfits

The BASS is incredible.
Yes, but I believe that monster fuzz tone we hear is on the electric guitar. Although, bands in 1968 were using fuzz on their bass guitars also!
I wish I knew who played bass on this session. Incredible.
This sounds like The Beatles Paperback Writer.
A clever rip, yes.
