I love how Dick walked away with the mic and Mark was trying to get it back before the tape playback of the next song started! These guys were a lot of fun back in those days.
I got Joe, Jr's autograph when I was maybe 8 years old. My sister and her friend drove like hell to the local Holiday Inn after the show, chasing him down. He had gone back to the hotel alone, not feeling well, but he was kind enough to autograph a piece of scrap paper for this little kid. I'll never forget that.
Paul Revere and the raiders were the best band ever I have had a crush on mark since 1968 when I saw him happening 68 and that crush is still strong to day love you mark looking good to 😁 Chris from columbs Ohio

It ain't the Raiders without Drake Levin & Phil Volk (Fang). I'd seriously like to hear (and see?) them playing live in their scuffling days in the Pacific Northwest. I'll bet they burned.
I always liked these guys, but I saw them in a concert in Tennessee where they had Freddie on guitar and Keith Allison in bass.Different outfits,no jumping around or dancing. Was disappointed with that.Did befriend Fang later on in life Nice guy- was working in a music store.
Very cool looking outfits, looks like they are the rock group that started the trend in women wearing boots to their knees IE riding boots, every woman in the United States has a pair of knee-high boots nowadays. This is where it came from
I don't get it. Dick Clark acts like he has never met the band before. This was taped in 1967. He had to have known them since they were the house band for ABC's "Where the Action Is", which debuted June 27, 1965 and he was the host. Please explain.
@@aliceshaw8265 oh I know. I think he was making sure they were all introduced to the audience. I know he had already met Freddy because I saw a short interview where Freddy was introduced to Dick as a new member. I'm not sure about Joe or Charlie. You can see the tension between Revere and Lindsey when Revere rushed for the mike before Lindsey could introduce the band. Revere always wanted to be boss but Lindsey had the fan base.
Oh my....those sculpted Bietel hairdos........The music was great ,but they were such clowns....no wonder that not even till today when most bands from those days gained some respect over time, even The Monkees were taken more serious than these guys.....which is a shame , because people miss out on some of the best mid 60's USA pop rock....in the same class as for example The Byrds and Beach Boys.....who ofcourse were also brilliantly produced by Terry Melcher......
Yes but that's why they got to host where the action is, because they were funny, and cute. They were just different than most bands but still good. Mark crush!!
Sad, really, listen to their version of Louie Louie, far better than the Kingsmen. Listen to Steppen Out and Kicks they were and are great pieces of music. If you read Mark Lindsay's account of the band, the clowning came about when they were performing live in the very early days. The audience loved it, so they kept doing it.
They swerved toward the teeny bopper audience in the later 60s hence too much cuteness . That’s where they kinda lost me . But I still love the classic lineup and the kickass songs !

Freddy Weller went on to have a very successful career in country music
Great interview and thanks for the memories. Great group.
I always liked that band very much. "Him or Me( what's it gonna be?) Good Thing , Hungry, they had a bunch of great songs!

Oh I get it, at the beginning of the interview when Mark says, this is “Paul Revere Dick” isn’t that Paul’s complete real name?
According to Wikipedia, "Paul Revere Dick" really was his full birth name. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Revere_Dick
There was a competition called "Northwest Battle of the Bands." They were known as Paul Revere and the Night Riders in those days.

Kicks
Hungry

Him or Me (What's it gonna be)

Stepping Stone

thanks, i had only heard stepping stone by the monkeys till i got alexa to play it by the raiders just now.

Many of the AB clips I see from 1967 are in black and white. Here is an exception.
They started taping the series in color in the Fall of '67.
