Two of the Raiders, Mark Lindsay and Freddy Weller, enjoyed their respective successful careers. Freddy Weller sang country music. There you have it.

The Rock and Roll HOF is a complete sham and fraud! Great bands like Paul Revere, Styx, Toto, and others were deemed by Jann Wenner and the HOF Board as not hip enough to be inducted (although the 'Go Go's' are in)??!! Paul Revere and Mark Lindsay used to host no less than THREE ABC-TV shows, “Happening ‘’67”, “Happening ‘68”, and “It’s Happening”, all made by Dick Clark Productions. The Raiders were there, of course. The shows had a number of segments about hip, hap’nin things. Sometimes they taped at ABC Studios in Hollywood, and the rest of the time at the former “Hollywood Palace” studio on North Vine Street, also in Hollywood. That building is now the home of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences… you know, the people who give out The Oscars once a year! Both “Uncle Paul” and Mark were great guys, and they’d hang out in the audience between shows. They did three or four shows on a taping day, and I used to go to them. They were a BLAST!

    1986.
    Carl Driggs, lead singer.
    Doug Heath, lead guitar.
    Ron Foos, bass,
    Danny Kraus, keyboards.
I met Danny briefly in Las Vegas, 1980's.
The Raiders were performing briefly, at a resort. Danny was quiet and courteous.

I have stories to ell from the years we knew eachother.

Ten years later and I always appreciated Paul "making fun" or parodying his famous decade. Somewhere in the '60s, Elvis - supposedly The King - was a cartoon character for impersonators, even spawning a full industry often making fun of him and his schtick. I can't imagine Elvis ever enjoying it or appreciating those skills some demonstrated. But here, Paul Revere said, "Fine - let's do it ourselves and get a band together" for his own act and revenue.

Everybody in that crowd was entertained 100%! The music was pretty damned good too. I loved Drake Levin but Baby Raider is at least on Drake's level. Admittedly Drake did it first and made up some of the most iconic riffs of all time.

@@rogersmith7396 True, as with all bands that change personnel, you kind of remember who the original members were when one first got into their music. I'm an old fart in my 70's and I remember that lineup.

    • @rogersmith7396

@@CC-Wulf They fell apart quickly. I used to run home from school to watch "Where the Action Is " at 4 pm. Black and white I think. Just saw 80 year old Volk on another channel with a cover band. Not very good. He was Fang because he had buck teeth. Had an unusual white guitar with Fang on the back. Smitty used to do like Moe Howard impersonations. I guessed they learned how to ham it up on that show. But their music was first rate and Melcher, Doris Days son, object of the Manson killings did well with them. I think the history was they started in the 50s and the band changed many times. I think Revere and Lindsey were the main members. I always heard they and the Monkeys outsold the Beatles. I never had any money but the records cost $4.00 and as soon as I could scrape it together I would run up to Pennys and buy another raiders album. Their production was heavy metal. I loved them and the DaveClark 5, another band who was banned for loudness. Depressing to see them hamming it up in small venues but I know they did it because they made good money. Its like you could hire them for the high school prom. I guess Lindsey was kinda like David Lee Roth. Hard to replace. I think Sammy Haagar did play my High school.

By the time I became interested in PR & tR and saw them in person, they apparently had given up on this comedy bit. And thank god..... so talented musically and soooo good-looking, they certainly didn't need this PR comedy schtick. When I saw them, PR himself was more in the background, letting his very talented front men do their thing. Still one of my all-time fave bands.
