"... heard about these back in 'Nam."
Thank you for your service.
Thanks for watching.
thought the same
😂
Love these, nice clean sound, great build quality and feel
Thanks for watching
Nice to see they've gone further than just fixing the iffy build quality of their phones! This might bring me back in. I used to have Spirit Pros (which broke irreparably, as you might have guessed!). The way they handled bass was odd but useful. When electronic bass was right, it would feel quite overblown, but the threshold of 'rightness' to get that extreme bass response had a definite borderline to it. So, if I wasn't hearing the bass and thinking, "Too much!", then I knew I hadn't gone far enough with EQ/compression/harmonics etc. It was an odd thing to get used to, and not the most pleasant monitoring experience, but I have to admit there were far fewer problems with a night-time headphone mix translating to the monitor speakers in the daytime.
I hear ya, that's them the Spirit Pros lol, I couldn't think of the name. I tried them at a few trade shows but they weren't comfortable on my head lol. Yeah, as with any monitor, it takes some getting used to. They are cool, can't be pushed too hard (which I don't normally do anyway), but nice and comfortable and feel well built.
Do you know how they compare to Akg 712s...I’m really interested in focal headphones....how do u feel about the more expensive focals in the range? Ie the elgias etc👑
@@rossharris9936 No idea, sorry! I discovered the combination of Sonarworks Reference with DT880 Pros after that, which kind of makes all headphone choices irrelevant until I'm willing to drop a large sum of money on a distinctly better set from a much higher price bracket, and I find that hard to justify given that what I have now works so well functionally. I have friends who use Audeze and of course those are remarkably good and do reveal a little more, but I think the lion's share of improvement there is mostly in the pleasure of the sound. Of course, that's an important factor in terms of enjoying your time when working, but in terms of just getting the work done I have what I need right now. Also I think there's something to be said for getting a type that's easily replaceable and affordable so that if they do break I can definitely get the same model and get back to it, never having to adjust to a new type.
Thanks for the info. I've never heard of these headphones before. Good job on the video. 👍🏾👍🏾
Thanks for watching!
What would you recommend for headphones? Used in studio with loud music in the background
Headphones are super personal, but I'd say something that is closed back in your case, so you can get some isolation from external noise.
Focal Listen. I think they are super good and the sound is good and they are doing very well on my head: D
Nice, definitely a nice pair of headphones.
Thanks your video is helpful and to the point. I'm looking into getting these. I play drums and they look comfy, durable, and not too big, I have a smaller head so I don't want massive loose phones. And these seem good for mixing later too.
Thanks for watching
Is it good enough by comparison with M40x, M50x, MDR-7506, and CD900ST ? I'm looking for the monitoring headphone. your clip is very good tho :)
I haven't used those others so I can't compare, but I like them a lot.
I've currently got krk but the bins have perished and that's disappointing. So I have been looking at these, as the bins look comfy and soft and long lasting. I've got tiny ears so I might see about getting ones like these for video editing. Thank you for the review
Thanks for watching!
Durability is a nice feature!
Yeah, I think that's super dope!
Damn... my weakness is anything with the color red. I'm going to buy it lol.
Ahahahaha lol I hear ya, you like what you like! :)
hahaa!! did you buy them?
@@polescalante nah I've been working on other things
Ave Mcree good for you. Cheers
Hey, cool review bro...is it true that the headband padding is too thin? And may have a hot spot on your head? I always choose comfort over sound. Thanks for your time!
I haven't ran into that issue, I also have a lot of hair though LOL.
SoundsAndGear lol, no worries, appreciate the feedback. Is there another hp in the same price range?
Hahaha, yeah there are a few out there, I haven't tried them all though. I've been using the Yamaha MT8 for a while so I'm just looking to try out a few different ones so I can share my thoughts with the community.
SoundsAndGear Awesome man, appreciate it. Keep them coming! 👍
Will do, thanks for the support!
Would you say they’re ‘night-n-day’ compared to 7506s?! Were the highs you mentioned still as harsh since reviewing them?! I know they have a major break-in requirement.
Thanx for the honest review
I'm not familiar with the 7506's but this have definitely been one of my favorite headphones, between these and the Neuman ndh 20.
SoundsAndGear Awesome! ... I was making an assumption everyone knows SONY’s standard with the 7506’s, but the Focal’s should be a much better alternative for long periods of usage. ThNx for the feedback
Nice review.
4 years on I can get these for $170. Might just go for it.
Thanks.
Thanks for watching
Do they bleed alot?
for track recording
Nah, they are closed back so not too much
Great review I'm interested in getting these how would you compare these to the Yamaha MT-8 or other headphones in terms of sound quality and comfort?
A bit more comfortable then the yamaha imo, I think the Yamaha may be a bit more "flat" these are flat but there is a bit of warmth to them.
How could the stereo field be off? It’s a speaker for each ear.
I didn't say it was off, I said the stereo imaging could be a tad more open/wide.
what about ear fatigue ?
I listened these headphones which sound really good but are closed-back.
Do you are tired after a very long session (like 5 hour)
I've been using them off and on since I had them. ( I switch out with my Yamahas) but fatigue wasn't an issue for me, of course, everyone has different tastes when it comes to headphones and what they like to hear.
Thank you
No problem.
Looks nice! Never heard of Focal before so great to learn.
Thanks for watching!
I first heard of Focal about a year ago, when I was on a search for better nearfield monitors. I ended up purchasing some Focal Alpha 50 monitors, that I like. But I want to see if using these headphones will help me to 'tune' my monitors so the low end references properly.
Focal Studio Monitors, they have been around for some time Awesome Monitors forget the headphone
Hmmm, not sure if they will help "tune"
@@SoundsAndGear I was asking because I reached out to Focal Support, to ask them the best settings for my monitors, since they are like inches away from a wall. And their response was to use monitor headphones to 'tune' my monitor speakers. Which is a process I'm not familiar with.
I am between Focal Listen Pro and Meze 99 Classics - any thoughts?
I haven’t used the Meze
What's going on Saint Joe! Those headphones look amazing, I like the flexibility of them
Thanks for watching fam!
Focal Listen Pro OR Audio Technica ATH-M70X ?
I don't know, haven't used the Audio Technica
Focal!
Focal Listen Pro or Sennheiser HD 650
I don't know, haven't tried the HD 650.
HD 650 are open back. Those are two different things so you can't compare them. Open backs are designed for mixing so it will bleed sound a lot.
Compared to the Senn HD25's? Anyone :-)
Haven't used those myself.
*Bending headphones* "I definitely think they're a step up in terms of build quality..."
*Snaps headphones*
LOL!!!
So bendy!
Hahahaha, indeed! LOL
I need help, these or the beats studio 3 wireless??
Never used the Beats so I can't compare.
thanks, how about the bass? are good?
Depends on what your taste is, I gave my thoughts on various aspects of the sound in the video. Of course, that's just my personal opinion.
Beats are ridiculously overrated.
