Edsel needs to write a book. From Dope to helping bring back static x to his secret electric music group to his tech company I mean the guy has had a fascinating career.
@@DrinksWithJohnny met Edsel back in 2003 after he just got done playing a sold-out show and he took the time to hang out and chat with people and was engaging and friendly as ever. Made me a fan for life.
So killer how Edsel is tearing it up in static X! We did shows together way back early 2000’s. I definitely love you had him on your show. I learned a lot. Where things are going for us earlier recording artists
Glad everyone gets to hear Edsel’s story. Super underrated, talented guy that always helped me and gave me great advice. Had some epic times back in those Chicago days….Dave
Edsel is new to me , I never really paid attention other than a few Static songs before hand with Wayne, but the Xero persona is just I absolutely am a Dope fan now, so good to discover new music, cool dude and it's funny to hear him say almost the same thing as Wayne getting out of the cold.
I used to see them at Harpo's in Detroit in the early 2000's. They'd hang out in the back after every gig and just were cool as hell. Just saw them for the first time in over 20 years and they still freakin' rock man. Gotta tip my cap to that.
Really cool interview Johnny Edsel Dope is one of kind very hard working business savvy smart the guy really knows what he wants to do and gets it done the best way he knows how👍👍🆒🆒🤘🤘
Such an underrated band dope an Sevendust have to be the two bands that never got the credit they deserve over the years ,amazing live performance bands an they put out consistently great music album after album
Super late to this but im really happy to hear more about drama club. I saw them with black veil brides and falliing in reverse in 2014 and at warped 2015 and ive missed them ever since
Admittedly I’m not a big Dope music guy but this guy is really nice, humble, and all around good person. Much respect to him and his future endeavors. ☺️🙏🏻🤘🏻
I will never forget the first time I tried dope and I've been addicted since Life! Edsel has been DIY always! Thank you so much for all of the music and all of the fan service! I remember the 1,000 signed DVDs of every Group Therapy song music video(which was badass) as well as So much extra stuff I loved the AA Hoodie I got instead of the shirt and I got into trouble in high school because Edsel had the gun pointing forward! Lmao at the "Peter Pans", that finally got a term that covers some PPs I know! But I have been through hell the past 10 months and Dope has been my motivation music for pushing through tough times, and just everything you've done inspires me as I know so many others have as well! But Thank You, DOPE+ARMY 4 LIFE!
looking forward to this sit down. I remember discovering Dope in 2001 as a freshman in high school. They had a track called Take Your Best Shot(I think) on a demo CD that came with Rob Zombies "Sinister Urge" album.
What a freaking EPIC interview🔥 Edsel’s brilliant, really appreciated all the insight and anecdotes shared! Now I’m reeeeally looking forward to that follow up interview, and of course, kudos to Johnny for this, just subscribed to the channel
I bought a Dope album from one of those old music magazines back in high school. Didn’t know who they were and never heard their music. I just liked the description and album cover. Well that was a random blessing because I’ve been jamming them ever since
Holy fuck, would of never thought 1 of my artists have so many side hustles. Can't wait for the new album Blood Money pt. Zer0 (I hope Dope exists 25 years from now)
I remember i was 16 (now 36) on my bmx bike at the not x games but what ever the other one was and i was riding through and im like.. are you guys dope? And got their autographs.. before cell phones. Their show was at a small club in cleveland that went crazy and got destroyed
Can't wait to see Static-X and Fear Factory on the Rise Of The Machine tour. Wonder how he will handle double vocal duty 🤔 hope his voice can hang the whole tour 🤘
Oi, *DOPE* will always be one of my favorite *industrial/nu-metal* bands off all time - sadly and unfortunately, they're *QUITE* underrated. 😔 I *definitely* want to meet Edsel and the other members of the band some day if I can - *especially Edsel.* Also, I miss Simon - he honestly did *SO MUCH* for Dope as well; especially when it comes to their "industrial elements," DIY-work-ethic, the band's sound, etc. I saw Dope live back in April of *this year* as part of my 20th birthday celebration along with *Fear Factory* and *Static-X!* It was *ONE OF THE BEST* concerts/shows I've *EVER* been to, man! I definitely want to go see Dope live-in-concert again in the future (*hopefully* with Static-X as well, mate - because they're another one of my *favorite* bands ever, same with *Fear Factory*), and - if I can get the money/means to do so, buy the *VIP meet-and-greet* package with Dope on their tour bus, *ESPECIALLY* as a multi-instrumentalist, "occasional vocalist," and *HUGE* metalhead going on for some 7-odd years now (I picked up my first guitar when I was *13* and I'm *20* years old now) myself ! Edsel just seems like such a chill, down-to-earth, friendly bloke, tbh! 🤘🤘🤘
Interview rayna foss. Sooo many new hardcore bands are doing nu metal and have female members. I’d love to hear her perspective from those days being around all guys.
watching this got me feeling old🤣 thinking "most of my favorite bands debuted when I was in Jr high and high school. wait, fuck, I graduated in '04!" 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I think once the metaverse comes the next step is downloading your brain to it that's called "the singularity" this is mankind final creation a.i will do the rest after
I've played shows with DOPE a few times. Last time was in a tiny bar. One way in. One way out. I was fresh out of rehab and sober. I waited outside the door hoping I'd see him. He walked out with a bag and I slowly followed him a few steps away from the people smoking so I wouldn't draw too much attention. I asked him for an autograph and he was super nice about it. He took a picture with me and a badass Ferrari looking type car with a very attractive woman was waiting for him. This was when he was still staying in Chicago and the show was in Rockford. Love ya Edsel.
Edsel needs to write a book. From Dope to helping bring back static x to his secret electric music group to his tech company I mean the guy has had a fascinating career.
Why is (DOPE) so goddamn underrated?! Not too many people know who they are. I loved their music in high school!! 😈😈😈
Same. First time I saw them was at Irving Plaza I think in 2001. Amazing band - should have been much bigger.
Great interview. Edsel: one of the nicest, well-spoken, welcoming, and professional guys in the business.
Thank you. And agreed 🤙
@@DrinksWithJohnny met Edsel back in 2003 after he just got done playing a sold-out show and he took the time to hang out and chat with people and was engaging and friendly as ever. Made me a fan for life.
So much great introspection by Edsel....and shout out to him for pulling double duty fronting both Dope and Static X on these tours.

This has seriously been the best Edsel interview, what an experience this was, thank you so much Johnny!! Would love a A7X/Dope tour.
Thank you for the words
A7X sounding the seventh trumpet tour would be epic, after tht nope.

@@adamc3360 YES!!!! That was it. I have been racking my brain for about a week thinking I might be wrong but I must have had a false memory.
Stand up guy. Amazing interview.

Edsel Dope is a huge inspiration to me
Holy fuck, would of never thought 1 of my artists have so many side hustles. Can't wait for the new album Blood Money pt. Zer0 (I hope Dope exists 25 years from now)

Why Felons and Revolutionaries isn’t on vinyl by now?!?
Interview rayna foss. Sooo many new hardcore bands are doing nu metal and have female members. I’d love to hear her perspective from those days being around all guys.
We’ll look into that. Thanx
What a nice guy, all the other uptight artists can really take something from Edsel.
The problem with all digital is you run the risk of censorship or the content just getting removed entirely. Despite having already paid for it.
Even amongst metal heads, DOPE aint too well known, but at the same time everyone knows their music.... its weird.
Dope rulez baby
I remember “I wish I was the president” lampooning GW Bush. Would love to hear what he thinks of Trump.
ผมชอบวงพี่ว่ะ \M/ Dope
Rapper: I'm Dope.
Edsel: Really?
Rapper: Yeah I am!
Edsel: Ok?...🤔 Then pass the weed, bailey's and the chocolate milk. 😄
watching this got me feeling old🤣 thinking "most of my favorite bands debuted when I was in Jr high and high school. wait, fuck, I graduated in '04!" 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I think once the metaverse comes the next step is downloading your brain to it that's called "the singularity" this is mankind final creation a.i will do the rest after
We’ll see
Lol 😂
Is Ed missing his top teeth?
He’s not.
No
I’d argue his band has nothing to do with music. Dope is hot crap.
Bro that's not Edsel Dope
Yes it is lol wth are you talking about.
