11:05 to skip the Endings
This game has one of the most unique artstyles I've seen in a touhou fangame. It has a really nice, cryptic atmosphere around the whole thing and I wish there were other fangames that dabbled in this psychological horror-esque genre. Surprsingly, there seems to be a lack of horror fangames for touhou in general, which is a shame because a lot of the youkai in gensokyo have stories that fit right into this type of genre. Great video as always and looking forward to more!

If I had to describe Koto Inari's art style and tone it would be 'Burton-esque' Big heads, thin limbs and darkly comedic atmosphere.
I said it live and I'll say it here too. This game is like Fran Bow if it didn't ditch the cool mechanic 10 minutes in to go to nonsense town.

Funny thing I never realized, but I found the game to be quite less enjoyable after the Twins, which is the last you get out of the pills lel

Great video as usual, a very good mental revisit of the game
I am so glad to see a review of this rather unknown Touhou fangame. A very flawed, but outstanding little adventure. I think the resolution of Act 2 alone makes it worthwhile. Never seen a game deliver a scene that is tragic, disturbing, and oddly enough, funny and heartwarming at the same time.
This one is an interesting experience.

Ok, I didn't even know this game exists. I was pretty confused at first as I clicked on the video. Turned out to be an interessting experience because it was unexpected. I can agree with you, I am also a fan of athmosphere instead of cheap jumpscares ( You can especially creep me out with good placed music xd ).
The game itself really gives of some spooky and sometimes even disturbing vibes, but in a good way. Didn't know that any Touhou fangame would choose this direction but it is kinda fitting for Koishi. I could really imaging Koishi going through this horror before deciding to close her third eye.
The artstyle is really unique..not really my style but I can live with that^^ You did a good job with that video. It really kept me interessted until the end. I like how they portray all the characters,
especially the 3rd Eye version of Minamitsu since she is a sprit of a young drowning victim. The nitpicks could be annoying sometimes but you can work with them so it wouldn't bother me that much^^
Overall I really enjoyed this lil' Halloween video :D Didn't expect to see a video so soon but it makes me happy. I'm looking forward to see what the next incident has to offer :D

13:03 I think you did a pretty good job with the explanation.
If your goal with a piece of media is to make the audience feel a specific feeling, then any thing that can break that feeling will severely lessen the impact. Things like poor lighting, music choice, dialogue, etc. If something takes you out of the experience for even a moment, then it's hard to reel them back in. Especially if, as you mentioned, the evoking elements were effective and the audience is trying desperately, if subconsciously, to cope with it.
It's especially difficult to maintain in the medium of a game, where giving the audience a degree of control can drastically increase the chances that they'll unintentionally ruin their own experience. Though, it also has the potential to make the experience significantly more immersive and memorable than any other medium if done well, so I guess it's a fair trade off.
All the nitpicks you mentioned definitely sound like a big potential problem in that way, but when the biggest complaints you can find about a game are nitpicks, then it's definitely doing a lot more right than wrong.
...Hope all that was at least somewhat comprehendible, but if it wasn't, then this should be: Great video. Somehow, despite not having time to gather feedback in between this and the last one, I can already see the improvement. That's a good sign. Looking forward to the future.

@@flip.flap. well there is the "expand your brain, OMORI" MARI in one part of the game but the OMORI fandom makes a whole lot of memes to cope with their sadness.
Wow, you’re on a roll with these videos! I checked out a bit of Touhouvania after your last vid and I’ve been enjoying it so far. I’ll likely try this fangame tonight since it seems to fit the mood for halloween and stuff. Still being relatively new to touhou, I hope I can get some of the references. Keep up the good work!
