Some info for anyone wanting to move here: Also main thing the amount of police for this town is low so they won’t be making it a priority of ur stuff is stolen over a murder. Like there needs to be more police as the population here is rising fast 1.) south side and east side of Tucson are a bit sketchy. East side is more conservative from what I’ve noticed. South side is run down a bit with people stealing from stores and what not. Getting more North is more rich from what I’ve seen. West is a variety of everything. 2.) downtown Tucson with the tallest buildings, is very progressive and are friendly. They have lgbt bars and local restaurants. In downtown there are one way roads which I have not seen anywhere else in Tucson. Downtown gets very lively at around 9pm on Friday and Saturday nights while students are attending The U of A. 3,) going from downtown there’s 4th ave the main attraction of Tucson I’d say. They have pretty old buildings but are also modern. Lots of small stores and great restaurants of different cultures. And on second Saturday’s of the month they host artists, food trucks, live music, etc. they also have fun events which close down 4th ave road (love to go to those). 4.) for those who are vegan many of the restaurants have vegan alternatives. I also know of a few full vegan/vegetarian restaurants and they are awesome. 5.) stores mainly are frys, Safeway, Costco, sprouts, Whole Foods, Walmart, target, and some others that I’m forgetting 6.) there is a main biking path that’s pretty long. I’ve never rode the full length of it but it follows the Santa Cruz River. There’s a nice biking community here that you can connect with and practice for the el tour de Tucson that happens each year. 7.) the drivers here aren’t that great so do beware as I’ve seen people run lights and get into crashes due to inappropriate driving. Also our street lights are not censored so you may end up sitting at a light with no cars going the other direction just waiting for it to turn. 8.) when looking for a house there are pockets within Tucson like one block will be very poor while another is much richer. Communities that don’t have HOAs are nice as they have a variety of different houses. Closer you get to downtown the more expensive. Armory park which is next to downtown houses can range from $300-800k+. Many neighbor hoods can be pretty sketchy or the polar opposite of a very nice community like Sam Hughes. It seems nicer communities have more expensive homes though. HOAs here suck don’t recommend living in an HOA place if possible. 9.) there are a lot of j walkers so be careful when driving. 10.) the LGBT community is pretty nice once you get connected. 11.) Tucson is more progressive than Phoenix but still has it’s conservatives 12.) only parallel parking there is will be in downtown Tucson. Other than that there’s not parallel parking. If you plan on taking ur drivers test here you’ll need to learn to do a three point turn. 13.) Theres a lot of nice parks. Reid Park is the biggest and has a dog park for small and large dogs. It also has a zoo. 14.) going up the foothills they have pretty expensive and cheap homes but it’s away from a lot of stores. 15.) Mt Lemmon is great to go up and has a ski lift. Lot of hiking trails and places to camp. 16.) theres a lot of historical homes here so when buying I’d pay someone to check the house out as some may have copper wiring which is dangerous. 17.) theres pretty good schools for kids. The biggest highschool here is Tucson high with over 3k students with a sort of college campus feel. I’d also def do not recommend sending ur kids to also Pueblo as there have been stabbing’s.... mainly heard from the middle school one. South point highschool is catholic highschool where rich parents send their kids thinking it’s a good religious school when in reality they are ur typical party highschool with kids going out to get drunk. So maybe don’t send ur kids there. Vaping is also popular so beware of how ur kids will be influenced by others. I have seen kids use weed and one kid use LSD. Many get those stuff from their relatives then sell it around. From what I’ve also noticed is the bigger high schools each have a cop assigned there. They also have their own security/moderators to keep kids from fighting or get into trouble. Mostly it’s pretty good though if you stay away from those type of people. Tucson high is also known for their fine arts and stem program. I think they have the best stem program in Tucson. Rincon/university highschool has a regular system but also an honor system. If you test into it you can take their harder classes. They have a lot of clubs and Ap classes to take. American football is the main sport along with soccer/football, volleyball, tennis, basketball, swim etc. from what I’ve noticed, Tucson high has a good special needs program with teachers specialized for their needs and have translators for students who are hard of hearing. I could keep going but that’s the things I can think of on the top of my head :) msg if u want some more info

@Indigo Sky it’s relatively easy as long as you don’t have a poor credit score and werent evicted recently. it’s pretty cheap and nice all you really need to do is look into the location and reviews. If it’s good and near where you want to be then all you need to do is the paper work.
@Donald Oglesbee okay..? It’s based on my experience from living here for 14 years. It also depends on the connections you have. If you would like to leave your experience it would probably help others see Tucson from a different view point
We stay away from the high priced downtown area as much as possible but it's fun to go there once in a while. Some great eateries but we love the Oro Valley area but in the county. It's growing there too! Great weather is all I can say! Great city overall.
@@CALI-ll7iv not really compared to the mid west. I have a house with a pool on nearly an acre that I rent to a relative at the family rate. If not, it would be $2,000 a month. Rates vary depending on where you want to live and what type of place. Apartments are just about everywhere so there are lots of choices. There seems to be a housing shortage as they are building more every day. I've been here on and off for 3 years now and the heat doesn't bother me until it gets above 105, and that doesn't happen often. I hope that is helpful.
Nice video. Just a correction, Tucson and southern Arizona were part of Mexico until 1852. It was part of the Gadsden Purchase. Mexico was calle New Spain until the locals defeated the Spanish army and became Mexico.
I will be coming Sept 2020. I hope this year ALL the statues and monuments will be left intact. If Tucson as I have known from previous visits is as pleasant as Boise Idaho, some southern cities of Brasil, Argentina and Chile with some Spanish and Hispanic notes, I would feel comfortable and happy to move here in retirement in the next few years.
Nice and clean, not like Los Angeles where downtown is filled with tents and rats 🐀. There’s homeless anywhere you go but California might just be the Homeless capital.

Hey Jeff I have watched every video you have mad about the Arizona. And I love Tucson I lived there for about 6 months than moved back to Oklahoma City. Idk if I should move to Glendale or Tucson it's a hard choice
You do great videos, not snappy lists. Good details, and footage. You're really shown me a lot about AZ. I'm really drawn to Arizona, and always have been, although I'll probably get outvoted on that for retirement or second home purchase and we'll go with Florida. But I'm gonna visit AZ as soon as I can. Love the size of Tucson. Realtor here in Toronto which is even bigger than the Phoenix Metro Area. We're just huge now. Been here 33 years, the majority of my life. It's a great city, but I'd love to live somewhere smaller. And warmer. But, the ties that bind....:)
Thanks for video. I recently visited from Phoenix hoping to move there. I got a little frustrated because now it's hard to feel the ambiance and vibe of the place. Is the light rail still there?
After living here in Tucson for 20 yrs, I have found that Tucson doesn't really have a "Downtown" scene. I imagine that years ago it did, but since 2003 when we moved here, it hasn't had a downtown scene. Some of the best eats in Tucson are at the Frog and Firkin.
Thanks for your video of Tucson. What a gorgeous weather. Look at sky , no cloud, blue all the way horizon. I bet night time can see God's heaven's decorations with so many stars. How many cities or State or Province you can see such gorgeous weather? Not too many for sure.
Thank you for sharing Jeff. Good one. Tucson is much larger than I imagined it to be. What a clean little city but not many people out. Definitely will check it out. What was the floral sculpture you passed? Well hope you had a great Halloween 🎃!
Larry Frady Larry chill out. When I think of a sociably partying city Phoenix is not what comes to mind. Your response was somewhat sarcastic and I do hope you have a better day tomorrow. Jeez!

I lived in that damned Ugly,Backward,Barbian,Sh#thole,Loser City because mNy employers left there and the 1870’s Party drove away all of Spring training baseball which 3 teams brought 30 million dollars each for one month. Tucson is the Pothole Capital of all of North America. Pothole Dodgingalong with tailgating is a sport & sports event in Tucson.
Was surprised to see how beautiful and rural the area is. Catalina My. Are beautiful and u usual. You never mentioned the prices of homes and you never show hospitals. With the fast traffic one could find them selves needing a good hospital. What is the difference between the heat and cold between Phoenix and Tucson, Curious why Phoenix area has grown so much bigger and sprawled. Nice video.
@Di Escombreria Wrong! Tucson's VA Hospital is ranked much higher than its complaint ridden Phx counterpart. Obviously you are allergic to facts and have an anti Democrat ax to grind. Along with this page monitor you need to supply data to prove your absurd assertions - and need to stick to the facts. University Medical Center spawned the new downtown Phoenix Medical School. Scandal caused The Catholic Diocese to remove their certification of St. Joseph's Hospital.
Love the Channel ! My wife and I watch frequently. We love coming to Arizona from Alaska for sunshine and hiking. We have spent a decent amount of time hiking in Sedona with our kiddos ( 5 and 2 yrs old) But at end February we are hoping to go south for warmer weather and different adventure:) Any suggestions for some “ must do must see” trails in Tucson area that would be quasi kid/ family friendly. Thank you - Ansen

In the 30 years since your friend last visited Tucson, we built all those mountains and decided to put in a few plants. That's why he doesn't remember them. How ridiculous. You did not enter South Tucson, which is a one mile square, independent, municipality located a mile south of San Augustin Cathedral. It's the University of Arizona, not the University of Tucson. The UofA is the older of the two state universities. Other than those slight gaffs, you were respectful, and reasonably accurate. It would have been nice if you showed more parts of the metro area, and included areas that are less affluent than the ones you chose.
I just moved here at the beginning of the year; and I can't wait to get out. Outside of great hiking and running trails, there isn't a ton to do. For younger persons, it may not be a good fit (unless you are at the U). If you have a family and are ready to settle down, it's a great place. But don't actually live in Tucson, because it's a horrible city. It's surprising that you didn't walk by one of the 100's of homeless people that walk the downtown area (especially city hall).
@@CALI-ll7iv if you mean city, any of the cities in Phoenix metro (but not Phoenix proper). Phoenix by itself is not the best city. I would say Scottsdale or Tempe, but as long as you are on the east side , there are plenty of things to do.

11.) Tucson is more progressive than Phoenix but still has it’s conservatives
12.) only parallel parking there is will be in downtown Tucson.
My girlfriend will be going to the university there she has no car at the moment. Would she have issues?
josephpa05 There is public transportation that runs through the university and of course uber/lyft.
@@josephpa05 sorry for the late reply no there shouldn’t be as the university has a bus system that she can take place to place within the U of A area. There’s also sun tran the local bus system which goes all over Tucson and is easy to use. Also there’s a trolly downtown
Is Arizona rent cheap? California is ridiculous
You barely highlighted the coolest part! The mountains and the saguaros! Great video.
Nice video. Just a correction, Tucson and southern Arizona were part of Mexico until 1852. It was part of the Gadsden Purchase. Mexico was calle New Spain until the locals defeated the Spanish army and became Mexico.
Love what you do Jeff !!!
So interesting !!
Good at what you do 💙
Love love Tucson!!!
During this entire video I was like “I know where that is”
Same here gabrielle
Nice and clean, not like Los Angeles where downtown is filled with tents and rats 🐀. There’s homeless anywhere you go but California might just be the Homeless capital.
It's nice and clean in the area he showed. He didn't even go to the transit centers or anywhere where the homeless actually do sleep.
You right about California I saw so many homeless people on every corner and a lot downtown areas.
I live in tucson thanks for sharing this
Thank you for this video, I’ve been in Tucson many times but never in downtown Tucson 😁 after seeing your video we’re going to visit Downtown for sure 💙💙
After spending decades in Tucson it was wonderful to finally leave that cesspool. I now live in a much better part of the country
The main out of his fourth Avenue did you not cover that. That’s where the Downtown happenings are everybody goes there on the weekends
@Di Escombreria I tend to agree. 4th Avenue is proof positive that America doesn't have enough landfill space! Lol
4th ave is full of transients, stray dogs and shaking burnt out druggies (hippies). The pride of Tucson.
Di Escombreria “marijuana paeaphernalia” LOL ok boomer
I live in LA and might come back to Tucson I hate how expensive it is here plus traffic NONSTOP I’m so sick of it I miss Tucson
I've been considering relocating to either LA or Tucson, what are the pros/cons ? I really like LA though
@@x777aria move to la if you want liberal policies to suck you dry and kick you to the curb. LA is dumpster fire trash. Bring some steel toe boots for the needles and human feces along the sidewalks on your way to work.
Hey Jeff I have watched every video you have mad about the Arizona. And I love Tucson I lived there for about 6 months than moved back to Oklahoma City. Idk if I should move to Glendale or Tucson it's a hard choice
Thank you for the tour. We love it here now we made our move to Anthem!
I LOVE TUCSON
Great job Jeff. I can't believe how quiet it seems for a major city.
Not much goes on during the day on a weekday
After living here in Tucson for 20 yrs, I have found that Tucson doesn't really have a "Downtown" scene. I imagine that years ago it did, but since 2003 when we moved here, it hasn't had a downtown scene. Some of the best eats in Tucson are at the Frog and Firkin.
Thanks for your video of Tucson. What a gorgeous weather. Look at sky , no cloud, blue all the way horizon. I bet night time can see God's heaven's decorations with so many stars. How many cities or State or Province you can see such gorgeous weather? Not too many for sure.
oh how I miss Tucson
Thank you for inadvertently showing what a charming place Tucson is.
No Grant/Alvernon?
Droid Jane he was too scared to go there.
Thank you for sharing Jeff. Good one. Tucson is much larger than I imagined it to be. What a clean little city but not many people out. Definitely will check it out. What was the floral sculpture you passed? Well hope you had a great Halloween 🎃!
Darlene O’Hara it’s a Thursday afternoon. People are working. Inside buildings. Not in the street partying.
Larry Frady Larry chill out. When I think of a sociably partying city Phoenix is not what comes to mind. Your response was somewhat sarcastic and I do hope you have a better day tomorrow. Jeez!
Darlene O’Hara calm down, boomer
Larry Frady I was calm boomer! Like I said you must be having a bad day. God bless your little heart!
Lindo lindo maravilhoso está Cidade.
Wow nice shots of the city pretty big but not as big as Phoenix.
Phoenix is the largest city in the state
@Di Escombreria is Arizona rent cheap?
Thank you
nice video, i love Tucson architecture style.
@Di Escombreria Tucson is run by the 1870’s Party where their mentality & attitude is 1880 & beyond are only street addresses, not years & decades.
Is there interest in providing/increasing serious bicycle routes throughout downtown Tucson?
Was surprised to see how beautiful and rural the area is. Catalina My. Are beautiful and u usual. You never mentioned the prices of homes and you never show hospitals. With the fast traffic one could find them selves needing a good hospital. What is the difference between the heat and cold between Phoenix and Tucson, Curious why Phoenix area has grown so much bigger and sprawled. Nice video.
As to the growth between the two cities. The simple answer.... Politics. Phoenix has always taken a more pro business stance than Tucson.
Tucson is the city without sidewalks or left turns. You missed the Pancho Via statue near the pink court house.
chuck miller what about the Pancho Villa statue?
@@TurboMech Pancho Via raided American towns and killed Americans, so now we glorify him. ( I kinda like the dude though)
@@TurboMech There is also a statue of Wyatt Earp and Doc Holiday near the train tracks in downtown Tucson.
Thank You Jeff

Tucson is the best
Was Oro Valley like Palm Springs or all of Tuscon? What was he referring to?
I think he is just referring to oro valley. It's the more "affluent" area of the Tucson Valley

Welcome to Tucson I grew up in here we are famous sonara hot dogs just few blocks form my old house
Tucson is pretty hot, but its a very nice place
i’m thinking about moving to tucson. i hear a lot of people say it’s ghetto and there’s nothing to do. if your reading this and your from their i would love to hear your opinion. is it a good place to raise a family?
1.) south side and east side of Tucson are a bit sketchy.
5.) stores mainly are frys, Safeway, Costco, sprouts, Whole Foods, Walmart, target, and some others that I’m forgetting
6.) there is a main biking path that’s pretty long. I’ve never rode the full length of it but it follows the Santa Cruz River. There’s a nice biking community here that you can connect with and practice for the el tour de Tucson that happens each year.

I’m not very informed on elm and middle schools but there’s research you can do. The elm school I really loved was Sam Hughes but it’s quite expensive mainly because you have to live in that neighborhood.
18.) another thing to keep in mind is the heat it’s a killer so wear sun screen.
I could keep going but that’s the things I can think of on the top of my head :) msg if u want some more info
Guess you could say it’s a good place to start and raise a family but actually living here for the rest of ur life may not be a great idea. There’s honestly not a lot to do here and as I grew up here I started to get very bored of this place and I plan on moving away.
Wow I live there
In the 30 years since your friend last visited Tucson, we built all those mountains and decided to put in a few plants.
It would have been nice if you showed more parts of the metro area, and included areas that are less affluent than the ones you chose.
is Tucson AZ a good place to move?
I would say Scottsdale or Tempe, but as long as you are on the east side , there are plenty of things to do.
pretty much every large city in the US has a lot of homeless people

What is the significance of the blue line going down the sidewalk?
Good eye. Been out of Tucson since mid July and those blue lines weren't there before. A good guess would be construction. The video didn't show too much but there are alot of new hotels and apartments going up in downtown Tucson. Those lines have to be related to new constructions projects.
It's called the Turquoise Trail. If you follow it, you'll find some historical areas of interest.
We just dropped our daughter off at University of Arizona... not a bed place, not sure about the whole family moving down there but yeah
