The indicators. The rev hang. They are my two main gripes. Yes, the cup holders are a pain compared to my 09 Hilux. The clutch is different. I get what you say, regarding the closing of the boot. Got less than 7000kms on it.
Interesting list mate. Got a red manual BRZ S here too... my annoying list: 1.If not paying attention when filling the tank, it spurt petrol everywhere when near full. 2. Yes touching the boot panel when closing it 3. The opening aperture of the boot itself... the boot size is quite large. 4. The android auto cuts out/disconnects several times a day... but ive been told to upgrade the cable (tried 3 so far) 5. The powered side mirrors dont automatically close in when locking the car... Anything else is just part of the car class itself (getting in and out, petrol economy etc)
I had issues with multiple USB cables. Tried the OEM cable and it worked fine. Purchased a UGreen Cable (Right angle USB A to C) and that works without issues.
@00Lach I'm getting a white one at the end of January and I'm looking up so much to see if there's any issues to look out for and there are a few videos much like yours. Which is a huge relief! lol small things like this are gonna be the least of my worries I've wanted one since they came out 10 years ago, but something would always come up. Now's my chance and I don't wanna miss out a 3rd time. Cheers!
A lot of the annoyances I fixed on mine, straight away I changed out the clutch spring and adjusted the travel on the clutch as that was a major annoyance factor for me. The cup holders I simply don’t use for holding cups. I use it for my phone and house keys. Sit my phone on the side and plug into my system. I’m definitely thinking to buy a wireless compact usb plug in to give me wireless Apple CarPlay. As for the exhaust, I have fitted a Tomei Titanium which sounds great and disabled the fake engine noise. I’ve also put on some coilovers and now I just need wheels and tyres to complete the look. I also want a fat sti wing - but that will come later.
Love my brz to bits, but my biggest gripe is the entertainment system. Tinny enough to hurt your ears when you turn it up. I use it with apple car play, and the worst thing about the car is apple car play dropping out and coming back again a minute later, or not until you turn the car off and on again. Very annoying when you're trying to use maps to navigate.
What is it with the cupholders in the USA? Do you guys all drive for hours and would dehydrate uf you wouldn’t drink and drive? I don’t get it honestly. There are spaces for bottles in the doors as well…
I recently acquired my 2023 BRZ limited in gray and completely content! I finished your vid and everything you suggested are more personal issues lol, however certainly entertaining! I was expecting more legitimate cons rather than ongoing rants. Great review though! Enjoy your awesome ride!
Agree getting in and out is a pain. I have even had to resort to lowering the window once when someone parked really close to me. The clutch is irritating. Mine was out of spec from the factory (too high). Subaru fixed it and it is better, but I hate the over assisted clutch spring. When I am tired it shits me trying to baby it.
Test drove a 2022 GR86, and at almost 6ft, and me liking a seating position that has me closer to the wheel for more steering control, getting with the seat that close was a pain. I've had a Juke Nismo RS with the bucket seats and had no problem getting in and out... but this... oh man. Was slower than I expected as well, given it's 228hp.
Yeah I feel like its only "slow" because I was so used to having a WRX with a turbo and having that feeling of being pushed back into your seat. Definitely a huge improvement on the original 2L though.
@@00Lach with you on that one, as I drive an STI lol. There just doesn't seem to be an urgency in the engine though. It just doesn't "feel" fast. The new WRX doesn't feel fast either, so perhaps that is partly down to refinement. (I'm still looking at them though. The older ts interests me. The newer upcoming ts models i'mnot sure are special enough).
it seems at least in 2nd gen boot is closing easily. In 1st gen you had to slam boot with power of Thanos. When my friends or family wanted to put something in trunk they ALWAYS failed to close it at first try
I‘m 186 cm tall and I felt like a giant trying to get into the car. Once in it, I felt the most claustrophobic of any cars ever and my head was almost hitting the roofline. This and the cheap feeling, thin doors put me off right away. I am actually glad that I drive a „normal“ station wagon with air and room to spare. I really don’t understand the Toyota hype. All the models are made cheap and thin: the plastics, the metal parts… everything feels fragile and flimsy.
This is something I want to do in the future yes but no right now as I'm not tracking the car yet. Not worried about RTV issue unless I'm flogging the car around a track.
the AT centre console has an extra cupholder, right? apparently it'll swap in without an issue, so i'm planning to do that eventually. ive also seen a interior trunk handle on the aftermarket (from perrin?)
was thinking the same. Is it possible? I like the center console design for the automatic much better but I've only ever heard people say it's possible but haven't seen one.
Your complaints are so minuscule. You would probably be better off getting rid of it and getting something else how much you complain. I definitely will be getting one next year.
The exhaust note is the most disappointing thing about the car. Surely it wouldn’t of hurt to put a sports muffler on the rear. I’ve loosened the join to the muffler and it sounds far better so might look at getting an axle back system rather than a full cat back one. The mid resonator is actually quite sporty so not worth replacing and would do the job nicely. You also forgot to mention the full size spare wheel. It kills any load capacity for the boot (or trunk). I scored a free space saver from my Subbie dealer as it was sitting on their scrap pile which has sorted the issue nicely.
Yeah interested to see if there are any nice axel backs but we shall see! I haven't had a problem with the full size spare as I can use it as a storage space for my things and they don't slide around in the boot haha. But yes I can see how it could annoy people
Yeah I've looked into a new clutch spring and it's going to be difficult as it's a right hand drive car so there's a whole assembly to remove to replace it. Heard its quite easy to do in a left hand drive though
Drive it 2000miles and the clutch settles down and isnt finicky....people are too impulsive in changing stuff and learning to drive it as is. It doesn't need a clutch spring
@00Lach bro, quick question for you? When you're cruising in gear (typically 2000-4500 rpm, 2nd, 3rd, 4th) and you fully release the throttle, do you feel kind of a secondary lurch in the driveline before the car settles? It happens literally every time for me. I'm applying power (doesn't matter how much) and if I take my foot off the pedal, the car jerks a little and then settles. Hard to describe but it's like the remaining power from the flywheel upsets the driveline which the remaining torque before it all relaxes
No fear. I probably should've mentioned it. You nailed them. Clutch, throttle map, ingress/egress, trunk lid, and the CUPHOLDERS in that order... Disgusting. But then you take a corner in 2nd and nothing else matters
To me the most annoying thing is the seat belt over the collarbone no matter how you use it (loop or no loop). For the drinks, just use the other arm 😉
@@00Lachthe way the seatbelt moves from when you started driving at 2:30ish to close to your neck is what drives me nuts. It moves the t-shirt with it and I want to rip the seatbelt off the car lol the loop fixes that but then it feels like it is pressuring down all the time. If only a way to adjust the seatbelt at the column would have been invented by now... Also, we park two cars in our garage. One backs in and the other goes nose first leaving both driver doors to the middle. This way we can park close to the walls and have more room to enter the cars on the drives side. Maybe it's something that would make your life easier.

I reach up and press down on the subaru emblem when closing the trunk/boot works for me and feels a lot more natural than what you do looks.
The hood rod wasn't really to save money, it was to save weight. It's also one less wear item.
