You prefer the digital gauges on a sports car, you rev the engine while it is still cold on a brand new car, you start driving without having your seat adjusted properly, and you complain about someone turning as if a dozen cars on the road is “traffic”. I won’t give my conclusion of your review, just like you didn’t give a conclusion as to which car you were shocked you liked more.

I paid MSRP for my 2022 BRZ (at the height of covid no less) and i've loved it every day since. its not perfect, i could nit pic but overall its a tremendous car at a great price. I also live in NE and have been doing just fine thanks to a set of Blizzaks. Driving through the snow in my Bright red BRZ has been a lot of fun.

I cross shopped both of these along with Miata. Really wanted to have awd sporty car to round out my driving experience but I’m a sucker for lightweight rwd sports car. The Miata was a little more fun but BRZ has actual storage. No issues getting large grocery order.
The BRZ provides all the feels I look for and enough power to b enjoyable. Would buy another if anything happens to current car

    • @tcc5750

I ended up going Miata, but the lack of space is becoming more and more problematic. Would you say the BRZ or WRX is more bumpy than the Miata? I could not find any dealerships nearby to allow to test drive BRZ or WRX. That's why I ended up with Miata since I could test drive really any Mazda I wanted at the local dealership.

@@tcc5750 the BRZ has surprisingly soft suspension. It’s ride is smoother than my wife’s SUV and great on long road trips. The 86 is noticeably more jarring than either BRZ or MX5.

@@tcc5750 I own a Gen 2 BRZ and the suspension is pretty soft for the car it is. I didn't even test drive a Miata as I am 6'2" and didn't want to somehow fall in love with it and then later hate it cause I would be cramped and couldn't take more than 1 person with me (I many times take 2 of my kids with me and they fit just fine on the passenger side).

    • @MKu64
      @MKu64 6 месяцев назад

I personally couldn't even fit in the Miata - but in the BRZ (Gen 2) it was more than enough room.
The Miata is more refined for sure, but the BRZ / GR86 is way more of a performance car in terms of the interior and feel.

The WRX Premium with the Sunroof/Harman Kardon package is still the best value. The Limited’s ultra-suede interior/power driver seat are nice, along with a few other novelties, but not worth the up-charges IMO

Yes, this. Mines a premium with the HK and moon roof upgrade. Saved me a lot of money getting that vs a limited which allowed to choose a lot of other options from the factory without the car being over $40k. Abrupt ending with no conclusion?
    Here is a tip.
Slow you speech down, can't understand half of what you said.
I know some young men speak.......um......quite fast but
slow down and man it up a bit.
Also, manual seats are piss easy to adjust, for most of us,
just do it before you start drive off, you know, slow down a bit.
Also, the BRZ will have the shorter gearing, check em out on the highway.
That is why , for modest power output it accelerates briskly and revs to 7000
unlike the WRX, higher gearing ,more torque.
    Just saying.😉
    I went with the BRZ

The comparison between the BRZ and WRX makes perfect sense to me. I'm actually trying to decide between the two myself. The reason is, there just aren't a lot of fun, high quality cars on the market right now in this price range, and Subaru just happens to have two. For some reason the only vehicles every manufacturer seems interested in selling are SUVs, crossovers, and cars that look like an SUV or crossover. And Subaru has a lot of fans that specifically want a subaru, and the only decision is which model to get.

The base (premium 🙄) WRX starts lower (under 30k USD - maybe he meant CAD) than the limited BRZ. Only when you option it does it get that high. Shit the base ecoboost is the price of a BRZ. But once you go Premium the price rockets up 5k (and the premium is Much better than the base - least they finally added a touch display -_-). If you want it convertible (add over 6k since it doesn't come in base models), auto tranny (add 1.6k), the high performance package which also adds magnaride and dual exhaust (add 6.1k), the digital cluster (add 2.8k), speaker upgrade (add 1k), you end up over 50k before a spoiler and blackout options, wheels or paints. Nevermind if you want the V8...you might as well just try for a GT-350, or at least a Mach1 if you're going fully loaded.

And shame on Subaru for putting HVAC controls on the touch screen. Someone on the WRX design team has lost touch with what Subaru customers value. Just because we have the technology to put HVAC controls on a touch screen, doesn't make it a good idea. I have a '17 BRZ Limited with Performance Pack, and a Forester XT. Love the simple controls. One thing he failed to mention is driver height. A family member who is tall with long legs opted for the WRX over my gen BRZ because he just didn't fit well.

@@clintonrodriguez9771 That's exactly where I was. I have a Forester too, so this didn't have to be very practical. That said, I test drove a Miata too, and just couldn't see how that would work with NO room in the cockpit for anything. Jackets, wife's purse, etc, all has to pretty much go in the footwells. The back seats on the BRZ are mostly uninhabitable (squeezed a single passenger in there once), but they are great for jackets, and anything you want to be able to grab without getting out of the car. Also in choosing the BRZ over the WRX, I wanted, for once, to choose a light RWD car built on a dedicated platform, vs something designed to be 10 different flavors depending on mods. I'd already had a Civic Si, and the WRX is an Impreza on steroids. Nothing wrong with those cars, but I'd never had a great time/circumstance to just go for the dedicated design until I pulled the trigger on this. Got a great deal - it was still on the lot in January of '18. Sadly, it is difficult to even find the new gen BRZ/GT86 on a dealer lot.

The BRZ dash display looks like a cheap video game, especially when in a mode where the tachometer is on. I like the overall styling of the car, but *everything* about the WRX seems to be several steps above the BRZ. $6K is a chunk of change, but the car is more premium, more practical, AWD, etc. I doubt if anyone would experience any buyer's remorse for stepping up to it.

I was actually torn between these 2 cars myself. The WRX is the more practical choice for sure. I just wasnt sold on the looks so I ordered a BRZ a year ago. I have since taken a WRX for a test drive to see what I might be missing out on. I was VERY unimpressed with the WRX. Even though on paper it makes more power, it is also much heavier, revs lower, and the AWD creates more drivetrain power loss. The result is the BRZ is 1000 times more fun to drive. I am sooo glad I didnt buy the WRX. To solve the practicality problem, I also just ordered the Impreza RS. Why compromise with 1 car, when 2 is better. !!
