Saw this performance on TV as a teenager. Lovely. Most underrated band of the NWoBHM.
I saw them live on this tour in Southern California. Armored Saint opened for them and it was awesome! You're right that they are underrated!

I think this version of solid ball of rock is mellow I love the way Saxon have put more of a harder edge too this song in their recent shows long live that Metal that Saxon are known for and have continued all this time since first seeing them in 1982.

The same to me, i came from Rock'n'Roll and Hard Rock and an Earthquake came.......that was Saxon.....i could not believe what i have heard....someone played that stuff loud in the neighbourhood and i was a 14 years old german boy......and today i am still rockin and bangin

Paul Quinn is a seriously underrated guitarist. I've been watching a lot of Saxon lately and he's even gotten better over time. One thing that bugged me was their 1983 Live VHS in that Graham Oliver was barely shown, most of it was on Paul and Biff, always struck me as odd.

I remember seeing the Saxonians in this tour at sala Las Vegas in Melgar de Fernamental (Burgos,Spain) with my brother Luis and some of my friends from Valladolid,Palencia,Madrid,Burgos,Vitoria,Santander,Ponferrada,etc..Was the first time that I met the band personally and since this day I have a cool friendship with Nibbs Carter,Biff.Nigel..That stood the test of time through several concerts in several tours.See you in another Saxonians !!! Cheers and Life On !!!

Why they are better than maiden and priest ever were and yes I have seen both live maiden 35 times priest 15times but non compare to Saxon live

Hi misunderstood what you were saying yes I agree with you Saxon should be mentioned along with the top UK rock bands as they do not get the recognition they deserve which was my point I my opinion they are the best live band still going
My point is Saxon are a better live band than iron maiden maiden might have all the stage props they want but for raw talent and in your face rock Saxon are better and yes I have seen maiden 35 times first time was supporting Judas priest in the British steel tour with Dennis Stratton on guitar and not Adrian Smith

Still never understood why they didn't have more success in America.....
Apart from a bunch of tunes they are a garage band. Nothing against them but far from Iron Maiden, Judas priest, def leppard.. etc etc. A pretty lame band. 🤣. Considering how average they are its amazing they have so many fans. They were successful.
All of their late 70"s and 80's albs were great. They had sold out arenas in europe. I think they didn't have huge success in us because they were not so commertcial as us market requared. Accept had this problem too. Saxon is NBWOHM peoneers, they become famouse earlier than Iron Maiden did.

Nigel Glocker has a funk and groove to his drumming that I dont think many other metal drummers have. It's more like Phil Rudd In AC/DC. Hats off to the drum tech too and sound man too. Nigel's drums always sound perfect!
