Edoardo Catemario ( guitar) - Видеоклипы
What is not to like ? This is Scarlatti ! If its on the Harpsichord, Piano, Harp or Guitar it's amazing.... Scarlatti is one of my favorite composers,...... Time is the test of quality and this transcription is the proof of quality music in a gifted musician hands!
+Tom Lorig Exactly-that says it all
Así es amigo
Scarlatti would have been amazed that his sonatas can be played so beautufully on a guitar. Certainely Im amazed by these recordings.
As a pianist of 28 years - I’m familiar with several of these but thanks to this recording on guitar I discovered a renewed interest in k380. After hearing this version it just took on a newly found character. I then experimented with it on organ and that’s cool too- but this particular recording captures its true essence even in a way the piano can’t. Thanks again for the post ✌️
I keep returning to this clip. It's a wonderful performance, not just as a very fine transcription of keyboard sonatas, but on any level. The nuances of tone and touch available on the guitar add a great deal, and Catemario's phrasing is perfect throughout. My favourite in the set is K77, an unusual two-movement sonata full of sour and bitter flavours, in which the first part might have been written by one of the late 19th century Spanish guitar composers, and is succeeded by a minuet in which a basically jolly dance is subverted to a display of bad temper in a way reminiscent of a Bach suite.
I've not heard of Edoardo Catemario previously. But what a sensational guitarist he is.
I have been smitten with Scarlatti ever since I heard the mesmerizing K27 played by Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli. These guitar transcriptions are beautiful, magical and delicious in every possible way. A vulgar thumbs up seems disgracefully inadequate. Sr. Catemario, all honor to you; I count myself fortunate to have been graced by your masterful playing, and will search out other examples off your artistry starting now.
BEST K380 (14:50) on the guitar!! ... in F? ... who cares, fantastic and the best Scarlatti thrill all around! ;)
Scarlatti= magic
I think so,you are .
The guitar pays homage to the delicate crystalline quality of Scarlatti's sonatas. And it perhaps add the warmth of this instrument, which differs so sensitively from the harpsichord.
Each reveals one of the deep and diverse souls of this music. A real and intimate pleasure, thank you.
I became familiar with Domenico Scarlatti and much of Baroque music listening to my daughter play piano through her lessons over a dozen years. Scarlatti, whose virtuosic repertoire doesn't even come into the picture until Level 10 or 11, was quite a revelation for me! As a guitarist, the compositions seemed immediately transferable to my instrument. This collection serves listeners like me (and my daughter) well.
Un grosso total el maestro Catemario, admirable su trabajo sobre Scarlatti. de lo mejor. bravo!!!! querido amigo además.
Scarlatti Is from Naples, why in the video i see the Venice picture?
He was living in Spain? Influence off the flamenco in many tracks
The sunny-vibrant color, energy and rhythm etc of Scarlatti is wonderfully served by a guitar’s various “percussive” enunciations. Olde music that’s still tirelessly refreshing! Magic rhythm, elegant dancing phrasing and “effortless”-joyous delivery with savory trill etc sauce! Yupp, I’ll definitively be having seconds and thirds with a coupletoomenny wine refills!
What a soothing music for humal soul!
Charming Scarlatti pieces, ♫♪ღ♥
One of the best CD I ever bought, more than twenty years ago!!!

Bellissimmo
I like this sound.A treat for the ears.Thank you.
Great playing! Great transcriptions!
fantastico!
Maestro Catemario is a true Maestro. But what does have Venice to do with Scarlatti?
He did live there for a short period, but ironically, it's the part of his life we know least about! But I agree, Naples, Lisbon, Seville, Madrid etc would all be more appropriate than Venice.
I'm Dennis Ley, and i truly believe he is my ancestor
Thank you!
Marvelous transcriptions....
So beautiful
maravilloso
(a pic of Naples would have been a better fit. still, thanks for sharing)
That's exactly what I thought. And of course, in music by Domenico Scarlatti you can feel that north-african and Arabic rhytms which make his music so specific and you can't found them in Vivaldi and other Venetian composers.
gute Idee, dase zu transcribieren. Vielen Dank.
amazing!!!
... Scarlatti, guitarra, ...
my this guy sound great.just great. I notice all thumbs up and why not.
I'm going to go to Venice to die while listening to Scarlatti on an pad and eating ravioli on the Canale Grande.
Sorry to disappoint you but you would not have much luck asking for ravioli in Venice as ravioli are a Southern Italian dish and Northern Italians are not especially fond of Southern Italian foods.
I like the sentiment. Note that Domenico Scarlatti spend most of his professional life in the service of the Portuguese and Spanish royal families. How did this happen? He was born in Naples, Kingdom of Naples, belonging to the Spanish Crown. He was born the same year as J.S. Bach, G.F. Handel and Sylvius Leopold Weiss (lutenist).
after a 'second listen' to these sonatas on the guitar..I do not think anyone has played them better on the guitar that this guy....sorry to Barrueco...Fisk..Segovia and of course Williams and Bream..who have I left out?...oh yes....Barbosa Lima.
check out Roberto Aussel...and don' t insult Bream.
I still believe the best to be Antonio de Innocentis.
p.s. I refer you to videos of him playing spine-tingling Scarlatti in my basement, as he was in Iowa City for raucous and VERY well-received concert in 2003. If you look up his name plus my name, you'll find these and others of this great guitarist.
p.p.s. Sorry for my forgetfulness, but I just wanted to add my joy in listening to Maestro Catemario. His performances are brilliant -- technically and musically!!
I agree, with the exception that at times Edoardo Catemario is a bit heavyhanded (too loud here and there). But what a talent. Absolutely amazing.
Los felicito
Yyaaasssszzzz !!!!
Onirique. Eternel.
WONDERFUL.........YESSSSSSSS......!...I DON'T KNOW WHY NINE THUMBS ARE DOWN......NINE IDIOTS....!
Who wrote the transcriptions?
omggggggg
ギター編曲のスカルラッテイは、トリルの処理が難しいな、あとは、アパガード、できるだけオリジナルをよく聞く。できる限り若い時にやる、スタイルを完成させるには良い。
K 380 is E dur, not F dur.
I agree the playing is wonderful, but I don't seem to be able to find out who is actually playing? So some details of the soloist and the cd would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Una cosa que no me gusta de este guitarrista es que presiona excesivamente las cuerdas. Hay que entender que la guitarra es un instrumento de emisión débil del sonido, y por más fuerte que se presionen las cuerdas, no va a sonar más.
