My 2 brothers and I grew up on a farm. We had this huge wraparound porch with 3 porch swings and several chairs. My dad would let us sleep out on the porch during a rainstorm, as long as there wasn't a lot of lightning. we would all get our sleeping bags and head for a swing. The wind would keep the swing moving and the rain lulled us to sleep. We never knew until we were grown how mom and dad both would sleep in the living room so they could see out the windows to watch us. Growing up in a town of less than 400 people, there was no crime and those were literally, the best days of my life. This sound definitely takes me back. Thank you!

It's so strange to hear ancient melodies in modern times. You can feel how silent the space around them was, for melodies so intricate and intimate to emerge from their souls.
Creativo, elegante, divertido y edificante. Un gran talento, entregado con sensibilidad.
I listen to this concert very often, and every time I'm touched! Such intimate, poetic and colorful playing, every single note has meaning. Thank you so much, you are a huge inspiration to me
His style is so subtle and genuine. There is a quiet, almost nostaglic beauty to this. It's like listening to someone playing on a rooftop under the moonlight.
Simply Magnificent. The 1892 Torres is the perfect instrument for this sensitive and enthralling recital. Bravo (and a great program of, oftentimes, neglected repertoire). ❤🙏🏼
Gracias x tu gran trabajo.
I love that he carried the guitar as a precious vessel, like a child or a loved one. At that point you knew it was going to be special. And it was. Thank you.
Wow, I never know that people can play guitar like this, the timbre almost sound like piano for me. And the each single note that he play is clean and clear and perfect. This is amazing.
The subtle beauty of a spring day. From the moment the sunrises to the setting of the sun. The beauty of nature and the subtle shifts of life and death as the day proceeds into evening. This is what I heard when I listened to the first piece.
Carles' expressions, body language and even breathing convey the intimate relationship he has with his instrument and passion for his music. Truly inspiring.
I totally agree and I love the way he holds the guitar when he first appears on stage. He is holding it as to say that it is thanks to the guitar that he can express his true emotions and music. Thank you!
I was swept off my feet when i first heard this performance almost 5 years ago, and ever since I keep coming back to this masterful performance every now and then.
Dear Carles, I'll never stop listening to your concert, you're a caress on my heart. Gracias, thanks, grazie infinite.
The guitar that ........talks! And very eloquently , for that mater , with the range equal (and more ) of the human voice. This instrument can murmur , and even whisper , can display emotions of different colors and intensity. All it needs is a guitarist and his fingers. A bit of his soul , too. Thankfully Maestro Carles Trepat is the one that can give it all. Thus the duo makes the third party : the delight called music.
It's great playing that he does. The music he is playing is so rich with harmony, melody and counterpoint it is a learning experience for me as a fellow guitar player. Very soothing tone he has on his guitar.
I read such beautiful words praising this marvelous artist , I’m not sure what I can add . However , I was completely captivated and enthralled by his magnificent artistry . George Lewis, Sr.
My favourite classical guitar video. A great guitar player, with a superb guitar and strings, beautifully captured on film. This shows us what we've lost in our race to be louder, brighter, faster. Classical guitar perfection.
+Rob MacKillop Rob, Jose Romanillos (in 'Antonio Torres: Guitar Maker - his life & work') doubts that the great luthier "was wholly responsible for this instrument" which has undergone modifications - not to be wondered at for a antique. No 'recording chain' can provide perfect reproduction of sound (variable according to venue acoustic properties anyway) but it can be heard to better effect via Trepat's CD 'Musica espanyola per a guitarra: Del romanticisme al nacionalisme' - comprising music by Llobet, Tarrega, Arcas, Aguado, Antonio Jose (la ma de guido LMG 2012G).
+Michael Clayton Hi Michael. I'm aware of Romanillos's comments - I have the book. I agree about the CD recordings being better reproductions of the sound. But it's great to see him play, and to view the mojo of the instrument :-) Are you aware that he has a SoundCloud account? He has uploaded an entire album of the Catalan folksongs, plus music by Granados. It's wonderful, and free.
Felicidades.
If ever there were a way of expressing love and joy through the arts, Carles does it with his expressive, complete control of the beauty and spirit of his soul through his incredible technique and the perfectly wonderful sound of his instrument. Te amo maestro. Muchas gracias🎼❤🎼
My last guitar teacher would have smacked his left hand. She was a perfectionist as regards technique. Trepat is a little unorthodox with his left hand. But he plays so beautifully. He touches the heart in a way that the more pyrotechnic guitarists seldom do. I literally find myself breathless, mesmerized by what he brings out of the guitar. He plays this most intimate of instruments in a way that it is meant to be played, with heart and soul. Love him!
@Dan Ghofrani I can only comment as regards the technique I was taught. I don't pretend it's the 'right' way to play classical guitar because I personally believe that different styles, as long as they allow you to progress and play more difficult work as you build your repertoire. happen naturally, and are absolutely acceptable. My last teacher, Gabrielle Kish, was not of the same mind. She. insisted, for example, that the left hand must be elevated more than Trepat does, in order that the left hand fingers are coming straight down on the strings, not at an angle. She insisted that this was the best technique, allowing you to play more difficult pieces as your technique 'solidified'. It felt awkward at first, but, once it became second nature, it did actually mean very precise and clean connection with the strings, with just the very tips of the fingers making contact wherever you played on the neck. The result was as she said - I could play my existing repertoire much more cleanly and progressed to much more difficult music, like Albeniz' Leyenda, which I could not manage well before. With bar chords, the first finger was rolled/placed so that the front of the finger made contact, right behind the fret. Trepat plays with the back or the flat of the first finger making connection at the fret. If I remember right, he sometimes uses two fingers at times to make the bar across the neck, for added strength. Kish would never have tolerated that. As I said, I can see that Trepat's technique works perfectly well.It makes for fine performances, obviously. I love the way he plays. Apologies for the length of this response. It is hard to be brief about the fine details of differing techniques.
@Dan Ghofrani I concur with everything you say about technique. Too rigid control of technique - by any master teacher, including Segovia - can potentially hold a student back. Done right, with patience, it can help the student through the most difficult of works. But yes, finally, there comes a time when, having made effective technique integral to the way one plays, a student can transcend technique and find their own artistry and manner of playing. Then comes the magic you describe - of playing, relaxed and fluid, discovering new ways to meet difficulties and bring more out of the instrument. I think it's also beautifully visceral, when you are in those moments, your brain and body working so well together that you're not even conscious of it. When you find yourself doing wonderful things, spontaneously, with a new kind of grace you never so much as imagined before. And lastly, I will have to listen to/watch Tavi Jinariu. That's a new name to me. Thank you.
The more I listen, the more I'm mesmerized by this artist and his exceptional skill. I'll have to listen to this many times more. There is a delicacy and tenderness that are both enchanting. Beautiful!
You can have your super technical , flashy , lightning fast Romeros . I'll take this gentle hearted, yet passionate, nuanced classical guitar player / gentleman Carles Trepat anyday .

This beautiful and famous guitar the Antonio Torres (1892), is most deserving of a magnificent player like Mr. Trepat and vice versa
Thank you so much for this great music collection with Guirrara, beautiful execution
He plays calmly in a way that gives the impression that the scores he is playing are very simple, but they are not. It is his way to deal his instrument that is beautiful. He has uploaded an entire album of the Catalan folksongs, plus music by Granados. It's wonderful, and free.

Magnífic! no em canso d'escoltar-lo 🙌
Performed live, there are no redo's.
Very clean. Amazing work.
I think a person must really love their music to play like he does.
Very relaxing and soft music ♥ Thank you for making my day better
I have nothing else to say except this is the way to play classical guitar- sweet, romantic and deeply felt.
Mastery of beauty with art. Thank you for spending the time to do this.
If ever there were a way of expressing love and joy through the arts, Carles does it with his expressive, complete control of the beauty and spirit of his soul through his incredible technique and the perfectly wonderful sound of his instrument. Te amo maestro. Muchas gracias🎼❤🎼
🖤🦋🖤
One of the best guitarists I have ever heard
You must have a beautiful soul to play this well, or a painful life for the guitar to sing so beautifully with you! Thankyou!
So delicate the way the music reaches the heart! Thank you, Maestro!
Very unusual and warm tones. Beautiful playing on 125 year old guitar, with gut strings.
Aha. Thank you for this information. 😊
Ah it’s gut! I thought they were just old strings
Eres el millor Carles!! Pura emoció en la guitarra!!
Thank you.
Magnifico ! A rich full and so very warmth of timing ,refreshing , super guitar tres belle

Curtís , beautiful expression of your appreciation of this exquisite artistic performance. Your thoughts mirror mine .
It's heavenly.
So beautiful to listen to at the end of a long day.. so calming and meditative!
You can have your super technical , flashy , lightning fast Romeros . I'll take this gentle hearted, yet passionate, nuanced classical guitar player / gentleman Carles Trepat anyday .
This is art. To me. When it gets into my soul. That is the level needed. So wonderful.
I don't know this gentleman, but the sound quality and finesse of his playing is undoubtedly quite beautiful. Thank you.
