I can't say that it was easy or that I understood all of the things. But reading made me able to write a little bit as you see. I had already read Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and it was a little bit hard for me, as a non-native English speaker. Then I started reading Lord of the Rings, and I've realized that it is harder lol (so many archaic words), so I came back to the HP series. Currently, I'm reading HP and the Order of the Phoenix. I know that I'II have to read the books 10 times or so, to be able to understand everything, however, it's okay it is part of learning a language ;)

Some of these words you just came across are already familiar to me but having them in a real context help me memorize them better. Beyond enhancing ones vocabulary, this video is also helpful to understand some of the English structures without the feeling that you are studying boring grammar lesson. Thanks Alex, this kind of lesson was very productive. Reading a book with a more advanced level is very difficult, because we have to look for many words in the dictionary or Google. And even with the help of these resources, we can not correctly interpret the meaning of certain expressions. I would like to see more lessons like this one.

It's a strange one, but you could replace "hold" with "put up with," which means "tolerate." Basically, "They simply did not tolerate such nonsense."

The first book that I read was animal farm by George Orwell , but Harry Potter books were the second to read and reread for many times.

Thanks Alex, this kind of lesson was very productive. Reading a book with a more advanced level is very difficult, because we have to look for many words in the dictionary or Google. And even with the help of these resources, we can not correctly interpret the meaning of certain expressions. I would like to see more lessons like this one.
