After revisiting my King C with a feather 🪶 I decided to revisit my Heritage with a feather 🪶 as well. Yes the feather 🪶 in those two razors work awesome 😎. That Proraso aftershave balm is nice. The scent reminds me of being at my grandmothers in Bay City TX every summer as a kid. The smell of the Magnolia Flowers she had in her yard. That's what I smell, Magnolias. Wonderful memories. You're always taking me back to my childhood just like Kensurfs does. Until the next shave, stay blessed my friend.

My first time using a three piece safety razor was about five years ago when I had first bought my Rockwell 6C. Tried to tighten the ends with wet slippery hands. You can already imagine where this story is going. I cut my middle finger on my right hand so bad I thought was gonna have to go to the hospital to get stitches. Ever since that experience, you best believe I always use a towel to tighten and loosen my three piece razors! 😂

Im 37 and have only ever used cartridge razors (mach 3,4 etc, Wilkinson Quattro)...all do the job but not as smooth as i would have liked. Since stumbling across you videos i now shave so much better just by doing 3 passes, only ever used to shave downwards once!....bought myself a safety razor and some more products....really looked forward to trying it......nicked myself to bits under the chin and on my neck......very bloody.....very sore.....haven't been brave enough to give ot another go since. My skin is very sensitive and only get the sort of growth where i only need to shave every 4 days. Psyching myself up for another go...esp if i get a shout out haha! Keep up the great vids. Hello, I saw ur message and thought I’d give you a tip that helped me. If you tend to drag the razor when you do the bottom it will cut you up way more so what I do, and you can try, is to put the flat part of the razor against the skin and tilt slowly while pulling just until it bites and removes the shaving cream. This way instead of dragging , pulling hairs, or causing irritation from excess friction it just glides clean through! Hopefully that helps and also re apply warm water to your face before each time you apply shaving cream, and when you are fully done shaving rinse with warm water first then the cold water it helps clean out any shaving cream from the pores before closing them up with the cold water. Those things helped me not get razor burn and also on my cheeks where skin is sensitive I can now go against the grain and get them baby smooth without irritation. Have a great day and hopefully you give the safety razor another shot!

This heat wave seems to be everywhere. In Colorado, we’ve been in the high 90s/low 100s for the past 2 weeks.
I’ll have to give the Heritage a shot. My first DE razor was the DE89, so I’m not expecting much of a difference. My daily driver is my 1948 Aristocrat. Love that razor. Like you though, I do love the case that Gillette included with it.

I just remembered leaving to go back home to Minnesota and it was like 95 or 96 in Denver, and when I got off the plane in Minneapolis it was like 77, but it felt worse because of all of the humidity.

I was curious about these razors when I first started wet shaving. But I instead bought one of those cheap butter fly razors from my local grocery store. After that I settled on the Parker 56r (a few others as well) and haven't really needed another razor since. Just smooth shaves everyday. I haven't purchased any Gillette products since. Who knows how many hundreds of dollars I've saved in two years........but I've spent allot on different shaving products haha. However it's money well spend because I really enjoy the whole wet shaving process. Really gives me something to look forward to in the morning.

Hey SL! Came across your channel a few months ago looking for a review of the King C Gillette razor because I wanted to find a better option than cartridge razors. Had no idea about how much was out there, razors, soaps, brushes, and all that jazz. Been back through your channel and watched damn near all your videos, got myself a fine education on wet shaving, and have begun my own little shave den, including a rockwell, a twig, a synthetic brush and some Stirling Soaps.
I'm in the UK but am actually taking a work trip to Fort Worth, Texas in a few months time, and will be thinking of how you'll be just down the road instead of across the pond!
A soap recommendation if you can find it, Edwin & Jagger Lime and Pomegrantes soap, give it a try see what you think!
Would love a shout out at some point if it's not too much trouble. Keep up the great work!

Gillette was still making safety razors when I started shaving, but stopped not long after. Back when they introduced the mach3 I grabbed it as they were advertising it everywhere you looked trying to recover from the expensive r&d that went into the production of it. I used it for a long time and tried others every now and then, but went right back to the 3...until I tried a safety razor again after decades of not using one...I threw out the mach 3's and never looked back. I have the king c and the heritage in my modern collection of razors and the only blades that work for me in those are the feather, but in the king c it just doesn't get close enough. It's simply too mild a razor and even in the heritage it takes a bit of elbow grease to get a close enough shave. I prefer my old open comb Gillette's or my Gillette adjustable's as well as several new razors like the Rockwell which does ok with the 5 or 6 plate and a feather, but I don't stick to that one blade as I love the dorco prime platinum blade in certain razors as well as several others. I've been lucky as I've never cut myself with a safety razor and I've never used a towel etc. to assemble or disassemble one. I don't like razors that cover up the entire blade either as it makes it difficult to get 100% reveal alignment Although I do own a few that cover the edges.
