Fluent or otherwise, it is the awareness of the importance of those IPC cards matters, and many passengers featured in these shows aren't aware of that.

      Why should the narrator know how how to pronounce "Nguyen"? It's not like Australia has one of the largest Vietnamese populations in the world outside Vietnam, or that "Nguyen" is the most common Vietnamese surname, or anything. /s.

      @@michaelreid322 A professional narrator ought to check on how to pronounce foreign words, especially names.
      The number of Vietnamese in Australia is huge - over 1.3% of the total population. You can't miss them in any city. Every company I've worked for in the last 30 years had at least one Vietnamese I knew personally.
      Most of them are Catholic due Vietnam being a former French colony, and came here because the Vietnam government is communist, which means they don't like Catholics. The pronunciation of Nguyen is somewhere between "ne-en" and "nu-when".

      No mater Australia or the USA Asia market sale plenty of foods. But elderly people they still love to bring their own food 😢. I remember one time, my mother-in-law asked me to bring rice for her… no way for me to deny it. She mad. lucky that time my luggage was full, passed it to her daughter. her daughter got a warning fine of $500 plus red flags in the system for 5 kg of rice. Due 1st time, they waive the penalty

    Is there a shortage of food in Australia that every passenger visiting the country feels the need to bring all kinds of groceries with them? It might seem like Australia is a country where people are starving, lol.

      I think it's more of they still want to eat what the staple food is from their country. For example, a South Korean may bring with them canned Kimchi when they go abroad.

    I’m living in Vietnam but after watching dozens of episodes….i ain’t going to Oz. ( just incredible how many times VN visitors and returning ones are apprehended 😂)

      But you've seen many episodes, so you know the kind of things to avoid bringing into Australia. Attempted drug importation into Australia is likely to be from SE Asia, and it's mostly people coming from China or Vietnam who try to bring in a small supermarket of inadmissible food with them. You know what _not_ to bring here, so there's no need for you to fear visiting Australia. Just make sure you don't enter on a visitors' visa if you intend to work while here.
