  • @TechnikMeister2

The fines were recently increased and the types of food allowed in are restricted to commercially processed, sealed and packaged food. All meat and most seafood are now out.
What happens is that people in their local ethnic community can't obtain these weird fresh foodstuffs so they ask visiting relatives or students to bring them in. They say there is no good food in Australia, which is preposterous.
In December 2023, the problem became so big with visitors from Vietnam and China, that new sniffer dogs are being used to detect undeclared illegal food. If they persist in denying any wrongdoing or plead ignorance, they are now refused immigration clearance and sent home. The three year exclusion period can now be extended to five years and can also apply to their immediate family as its usually a family member who supplied and packed the illegal food.
This means that an overseas student who has been caught, will not be able to complete their studies and their fees that often family pay back home, will also be lost. When they realise that, the reality hits home very hard.
The Australian community is already very resentful of overseas students taking places in our universities and denying locals a place so there is no sympathy for them.

I’ve been watching these videos regarding tourist entering foreign countries and the problem was the declaration of foods. The signage and the declarations was the problem because tourist were intentionally not declaring what they have. The only practical solution is to say for a country to declare and say that any foods are not allowed period. If foods are found the offender will automatically denied entry.

Ketamine is primarily used as an anesthetic agent in humans, as part of general anesthesia. It is also used alone when setting broken bones, and also widely used by dentists. Additionally, it is now used in mental health for depression and anxiety. Any veterinarian I've asked would not use ketamine on horses hardly at all. Don't mean to be pedantic, but misinformation like this is harmful. In my experience, this stigma has kept patients with mental health disorders from accessing this treatment due to fear which is horrible. I've seen ketamine treatment save so many lives, and lift people out of their depression almost instantly.
