I watched all you videos in 3 days. I love it! I feel more confident! Right tools are a must! Get yourself a van to do mobile service you can make a killing. Dont be afraid to charge more.
After looking for days, this is, by far, the best gasket change show found. Very good work !! BTW, what's really helpful, is your comments about diagnosing, guessing, checking and validating your suspicions; from customer complaint to bad work done before. You rock man !!
Wow , this was a proper tutorial on how to actually do this valve cover gasket with torque specs included and thanks for showing the valvetronic motor reset
Is it my imagination or are you much happier now that you're on the road. You seem to have a lot more pep in your step, a positive attitude and basically seem to be enjoying your work and life more as a mobile mechanic than you were when you had your shop. You even look healthier. Bad things happening to you in life can often lead to better things which you weren’t expecting.
You are an outstanding mechanic. I watched this video a couple of times during my valve cover and oil cooler gasket replacements. Awesome explanation and video. THANK YOU!
I wish every mechanic was as devout as you. No short cuts in your job. Your speech is so clear and understand able I am learning new words from your videos every time. Thanks for sharing 👍. Super video.
Just paid $500 to have mine replaced on my BMW 528i 2014. After watching this video, I’d say it was worth it. So much stuff to take off and watch out for. If I done this myself it would’ve taken a couple days easily and I’d probably screw something up along the way. Great video.
Bro you are still the best ...coming a 15 yr mechanic with his own shop I can tell a great mechanic with his own and his language (simple and clear),,,,: May be it was a blessing that you left the shop ...Coronavirus everything is closed many shops around are suffering through this mess..God bless and keep you head high ... AWW auto service Stoneycreek Ontario
I found your channel when you were closing your shop, I subbed then and you have a life long subscriber now, keep up the good work. Also I let all the commercials play out so you can get paid.
Your quality of work is outstanding. I know you’re not a shade tree mechanic but for those of us who are, you give us who too take pride in their work work a good name. I ALWAYS do work on someone else’s car as if it were my own. If I wouldn’t do it to my cars, I won’t do it to theirs. Great work brother!
Watched this probably 5 times before attempting the job. And another few times while doing it. All went great. Car started up and ran perfectly! Many thanks for a great video.
Hey, having something good to watch from a good content provider is awesome. Thank you! I just did valve cover gaskets on a 2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor 3.8L for a burning smell complaint, too. Same thing...Oil running down on the cat.
Thanks to your amazing video I did my 2008 528i Everything went so smoothly that after all work was done I couldn’t believe I did it. I even replace spark plugs . Thanks again.
Very good repair and if some hadn't noticed, you did use a vacuum to clean out the hole that needed taping. I have to say, how disgusting for the previous mechanic to have simply said to himself "No way I'm taking this apart again" to correct his mistake with the wiring loom. Secondly, all of the grey silicone isn't part of the OEM repair process. Also, good idea on the new bolts, hadn't thought of that before but when you said they are an aluminum alloy, it made much sense. Owner should be happy with the new cabin filters. Too bad the owner isn't that tidy with his vehicle interior. Thanks for showing us your talent...great job.
Thank you for letting us that car . Close ups are nice too. Specially the close ups. Where the image feels like. Three inches infront of you. Those images are awesome.
8:20, the correct way of removing the Valvetronic motor, is to gently turn the allen key in the end clockwise, until you feel resistance before you start removing the bolts. Then remove the bolts, but don't pull the motor out. Now to remove the Valvetronic motor, turn the allen key counterclockwise, that will "push" the motor out, using the internal movement.
Yes incognito This is the correct way according to me but impossible to know if this method need to have realearn with ista+ or just standard ignition mode May be if you remove the valvetronic immediately counterclockwise as seen on this video , ignition reset is just needed as eccentric shaft stay in last position Really dont know if you have more infos please let me know
3:38 Pobrecita! 24:28 Caterpillar! I love peeling back bolts and gaskets and watching a story unfold. I mean, I hate fixing crappy mistakes as much as the next guy, but I love the way you solve automotive mysteries with the speed of an investigative journalist and the thoroughness of an archaeologist. No need to be a botanist. You're a great tech!
Erick (not sure if your spelled this way or Eric or Erik) but I have to say your are very very precise in your disassembly and re-assembly I am very impressed and only hope your customer appreciate the professionalism that you exhibit on their auto repairs! Keep up the great work and videos and thanks for keeping on posting videos during these changing times...Life will never be the same because of this virus (COVID-19)
Outstanding work and step by step video. Thank you for posting! I have a oil leak currently on 525i xdrive but not sure where it’s coming from exactly 😢
Excellent Video! You are really good at explaining everything! I also appreciated your restraint for not turning the leaf blower on the little girl, I could not have excersized such restraint...:P
Wow! You cannot fix stupid! Makes all technician look bad! I am sure most of us take way more pride in our work! Great video! Thanks for all your hard work!
With my recently acquired 525i, I noticed burnt oil sitting in that tray, or whatever it is, below the cat converter. I just figured it was remnants of maintenance long past. However, with taking the car in for safety recall for the PCV valve, they told me about a leaking valve cover gasket, along with a $1.7k estimate for the work. Bwahahahaha! Nope. I'll be doing it myself. Thanks 💯 for this quick tutorial, since I wasn't sure about that valvetronic motor. 😊
Excellent video...mine was a little different... the magnet was a good tip. Getting the clips out without loosing one is an accomplishment and not hearing plastic snap is always an accomplisment ;-)
De tantos vídeos que e mirado para hacer este trabajo el tuyo es el mejor y bien explicado ya que todos los demas no mencionan lo principal que es la manera de husar el torquimetro 💯👍
“Torque-to-yield” is the term you are looking for to describe those valve cover bolts. They stretch and deform after being turned the 90 degrees that’s why they need to be replaced each time. Probably why the previous guy broke a bolt 🤦♂️
Im sure that you will get throu this moment of your professional live, you 've got every thing to success! Keep always that way of "well doing". If you worked here in France you would be floated of work!!. "Tens mãos de ouro"
I have yet to come across an older BMW with the inline 6 that doesn't need a valve cover gasket. Good thing they are relatively easy to change. Oil pan gasket are a whole other story.
I watched the whole video and I don't even own a BMW. great work
Ditto
same lol
yah same here i never gona buy 1 but i still watched the the whole video haha
It doesn't matter what this guy's fixes......it's his methodology that is so mesmerizing.
You have one of the best automotive channels even when some of your videos are not in the shop. Good job!!!
Thank you so much!
I watched all you videos in 3 days. I love it! I feel more confident! Right tools are a must!
Get yourself a van to do mobile service you can make a killing. Dont be afraid to charge more.
"Don't be afraid to charge more"... Spoken like a true fly by night mobile mechanic who can't figure out why his businesses never succeed.
I’m glad you’re back and recording your work thanks Erick perfect for this quarantine,
After looking for days, this is, by far, the best gasket change show found. Very good work !! BTW, what's really helpful, is your comments about diagnosing, guessing, checking and validating your suspicions; from customer complaint to bad work done before. You rock man !!
Awesome watching someone who knows what he's doing!
Wow , this was a proper tutorial on how to actually do this valve cover gasket with torque specs included and thanks for showing the valvetronic motor reset

This video is helpful on every level possible. Just bought my first BMW and I have zero concern about doing this job. Thank you so much!

I watched many video's of this repair because i have to do this on my car. This is the best DIY by far. Thanks!
Watched this probably 5 times before attempting the job. And another few times while doing it. All went great. Car started up and ran perfectly! Many thanks for a great video.
I really respect a guy that knows how to drive a torque wrench and cares enough to get it out of the tool box.
Hey, having something good to watch from a good content provider is awesome. Thank you! I just did valve cover gaskets on a 2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor 3.8L for a burning smell complaint, too. Same thing...Oil running down on the cat.
Glad you are still going, enjoy your videos. Mobile diagnostic is definitely an avenue to explore
Took me a couple days bc of the weather but thanks to your video I got it done!! Great explanation, simple to the point!

No, it wasn't a case study, but it was very instructional and precise... Thanks E!

Just had one done under extended warranty on a 2011 335xi. Dealership charges $625.
@@majorpuggington That's not bad if done properly, I imagine yours is easier than the one on the video but then I don't know much about BMWs.
You did a great job, good watching you perform your work.
Wow glad you love your job. . Got to find good mechanic
This clearly shows that he is a good mechanic
Outstanding work and step by step video. Thank you for posting! I have a oil leak currently on 525i xdrive but not sure where it’s coming from exactly 😢
