This was so good because Paul Dini helped write it. Ive said it before and I'll say it a million more times, He is thee best Superman writer of all. Paul Dini's Superman run and Batman run of the '90s to early '00s were the best in the history of both respective characters by far. And like Superman the animated series and Batman the animated series, It all shaped the modern dcu as we know it... Paul Dini's the best Superman writer there is. I loved how he helped Tomasi and Jurgens -- the best Superman writers of today -- write this awesome story that showed us what I always assumed, that there was always just one Superman. He just got all his memories back and remembered his younger days (New52 storyline days) and remembers his true self. This isn't about him "merging" with a New52 iteration of him. There WAS NO New52 Superman. He just didn't remember all of that. Which is what Reborn is all about like I said, he just remembers his true self. That's explained even further in the next action Comics story after this. Action Comics vol.4 , it explains and runs down his whole story from the beginning to now when he's talkin to kelex in the fortress of solitude. It explains better than they did here in Reborn that there never was 2 different guys, Like I said he just got all of his memories back here. He didn't just "merge" with another Superman..... there IS NO "New52 universe" , It's the same DC universe there has always been. It just has 10 years missing from it which Superman and everybody involved with him is no longer affected by.

For those of you who are still confused, Superman was split into two separate beings in order to keep him/them weak. These two halves manifested as the Pre and Post-Flashpoint versions of the Man of Steel. The whole concept is basically a reimagining of the infamous 1998 storyline, "Superman Red/Superman Blue." Though, I don't why Lois was split in two. Probably to keep both Supermen complacent.

I was chushed last year when he died but I've really rekindled a love for the pre52 Superman again since I've been reading Rebirth. Jon is so awesome too!!!! anyways I was so happy to finally see thenew52 Superman come back but it was even better when the new and old Superman's came together to become SUPERMAN! Nothing but pure Superman! now we don't have to refer to this Superman or a different Superman, he's just the one and only Superman!😄 I am so curious and excited to find out what is canon now! Rob, extremely disappointed that you failed to touch on the colors used here. It's almost like Tomasi put another spin on Superman Red/Blue, where all the energy behind New 52 Superman was Red and Pre-new 52 Superman Blue. When rebirth first rolled around, Superman had a weird looking belt and blue boots. After the merging happened in this story, we finally got back Superman with red belt and red boots. It was really neato there.
