- Few vehicles can elicit immediate and impassioned responses like the Tesla Cybertruck. I mean, it may as well be the picture that pops up when you Google the word “polarizing.” But regardless of what you think of it, the CyberTruck is a contender in America’s competitive pickup truck market and we recently got our hands on one for a First Drive.

This thing looks like a beginners 3D modeling project on Blender.
Or a truck designed for robots by Futurama's Bender!
It looks good from a distance. I just can’t get far enough away
Try Mars, worked for me 😂
Nice. Classic boomer joke. Don't get me wrong. I hate it too.
I want to say “I’m sorry for you” to CyberTruck owners, but I wont.
Green eyed monster lurks in everyone.
🤣😭
The Pontiac Aztec is so thankful for the Cyber Truck.
😂
You're Goddamn right
Poor comparison, a totally ugly piece of junk and a futuristic high tech rocket.
Aztecs have come back around. They are now pretty damn affordable and you get a LOT for that money in features and space. Extremely practical car unlike this.
Breaking bad
Based on the crash test, this is more like a weapon than a truck.
😅
This was my comment exactly with a little more color.
Without the ammunition.
What crash test? Which institute?
The official truck for people who are screaming for attention
I'd rather buy another '85 Toyota Hilux X-tra cab like I used to drive, restore it to better than new, drive happy and pocket the leftover money.
Too bad they aren’t all like you!
@@claiborneh nope, but everyone who buys one can be grouped into the same category, which is: stupid!!!
Never has there been an uglier vehicle than the cybertruck. Reports are it's junk!
So bad it’s outselling all the other ev trucks, combined.
It looks like a 12 year old boy designed it.
He probably did 😭
Homer Simpson designed it actually lol.
Elon is still emotionally a 12-year-old boy.
Elon did design it for his boy, don't ya know.
I get more of the feeling that the original design was rendered on a PlayStation 1
This truck is giving me Terminator vibes
I'm shocked by the cabin/dash. It's surprisingly empty.
Like my life
Where have you been? It’s been like that since the Tesla Model 3 came out in 2017
nothing surprising about it. normal tesla junk, its like sitting in a hospital waiting room
Telsa interiors are very plain and quite cheap looking.
Empty yet full or rattles lol
Is that your windshield wiper or are you just happy to see me?
I love your comment and make some "or are you just happy to see me" myself. Unfortunately, I often think of them when I'm alone and don't have anyone to share them with.
The funny thing with all of the comments the Cybertruck will never need advertising which is a big saving. 😂
Looks like a pile of shite!
Oof! It would be painful to take turds shaped like that to the pool.
So cringe. Let’s buy this truck so we can never leave dry pavement and flex as we reverse park it on our driveway. Even that wrap is heinous, good lord…
It's better off road than anything in its class.
Motorweek doing what they do best...candy coating a pile of poo poo.😅😊😅😊
Polarizing designs don't usually age very well. Not sure if that matters with this truck. Definitely some up side here, as long as you don't have to use it as a truck.
Straight from Minecraft
iv made better looking trucks in minecraft
You would think Tesla would pick a better looking design for this truck. It looks like a third grader school play prop. When my wife saw it on the road for the first time. She said, "She would be embarrassed driving this ugly thing around". lol
yeah - I'm Elon's age give or take, grew up watching the same sci fi movies. I don't think he understands how nostalgia works. I get that warm feeling re-watching something like Aliens (which has a main vehicle with a similar aesthetic). I enjoy a modern take on those movies like Turbo Kid. I might buy an old movie poster of one. Or a little model to put on a shelf somewhere. I have zero interest in spending a small fortune to drive around in a silly 80s-sci-fi-looking monstrosity as my daily driver.
Where’s John Davis???
He's too good for these vacuum cleaners!
@@BernonCars Oh come on Bern. Even you don’t think EVs are valid??
@@M67v no!
@@BernonCars Okay but you drove an RZ 450e☠️☠️☠️☠️ we put you in a Tesla or a Lucid and you’ll be converted in no time
@@M67v I drove that because I had no choice 🤣 I've driven them all and I still feel the same way 😂
I've seen enough of these on the road that it no longer looks odd. I've seen several in wrap and they actually look awesome.
@justme307 like a bologna sandwich - yep awesome
@@kelviskelvis7140 I do like a good balogna sandwich. I buy beef balogna only when it's on sale, regular price is over $6.50 for 8 slices. I'm not paying that much for balogna.
I have a breaking message from the Pontiac Aztec, and I quote "Whew! I'm not the ugliest anymore."
Thanks for watching the video, spread the word about the truck. 🤗
Looks aside, I couldn't live with the massive blind spots created by the A pillars
If only the frame doesn't snap.
An american designed and american built EV truck is outselling its competition while selling for a lot more $. It wont matter what these guys all say. They were saying tesla would be bankrupt 5 years ago. Love or hate it, theres a ton of appeal for it. Give it 5 years, i bet it will grow on people.
@jeremyventurino9481 That may be too optimistic for a 5 year outlook. I found the CT not for me, I took delivery last month of a Chevrolet Silverado EV RST and I love my truck.
@@kelviskelvis7140 the RST is awesome. Congrats.
@@kelviskelvis7140Silverado ev is a great truck too!
As far as the front end, HOW did Tesla get past pedestrian impact restrictions?
Good question.
I'm looking forward to seeing when the crash tests come out. Lots of people are assuming it going to be bad, but I'm not gonna speak of it until it comes out.
It's safer. Most trucks hit head height while this hits midsection.
No crumple zones. Dangerous
Current title holder of “most embarrassing car you can currently buy.”
💯
Yep. It’s a joke.
I love it
Sour grapes
Says only the people who have never driven one nor can afford one because they think too small.
The amount of comments. It's doing well, great designed, capable truck. Need an SUV version.
I can't believe this thing pass any safety test
No matter how you want to reword it, garbage will always be garbage!
This is an abomination and dangerous in the average drivers hands. A 3 second 6k pound stainless steel tank is gonna devastate another vehicle in a crash. I cant even imagine what all those sharp edges will due to a human being. And to think they mostly removed pop up headlights due to safety regulations but let this monstrosity on the road with no problems is wild.
The Hummer EV is 9500lbs with a similar speed. Were you whining about that as well?
Karen
Would you like some cheese with that whine?
Pearl clutcher
@@smrtguy77777 the hummer is every bit as scary, no doubt about that! But that doesn't make the Cybertruck any safer for it's surroundings.
The failing of touch screen interfaces is very apparent in this video. The driver has to take his eyes off the road for at least a second or two in order to change anything with that vehicle. Styling comes and goes, but bad ergonomics are there for life.
I think it’s awesome. This is so ugly it’s cool just like the H1 Hummers. Once they grew on us, they became iconic.
Maybe?! Problem is, none of these cyber trucks will be still driving after 10+ years. The metal may hold up. Electronics definitely not!
I think the H1 is probably the fairest comparison.
@@Nellie-HI can't tell if you're joking.. 🤔
There will never be a classic car meet of 20 to 60 year old cyber trucks! LOL!
@@Nellie-H oh son you aren't joking.. wow.
Let me guess.. you think the world is going back to internal combustion too, right? 🤣
Styling would make more sense as a small sporty car.
It's an amazing innovation and technology and most importantly a major part of automotive history!!!
@cesarjom - Just like the Tucker 48 - it is automotive history. I am glad you bought one - I did not.
What is it with these $ 100 monitors in overpriced new cars controlling everything? When the bits and bytes go crazy, the car is ready for recycle! Which is rather sooner than later!
I live in LA and see 3-4 of these a day, usually wrapped. Two things, I can appreciate Tesla doing something different, but I cannot separate Tesla or the Cyber Truck from the validation seeking toxicity of the CEO!
Yes! Agree
I've wondered how I might have felt about this thing if Elon hadn't done his 2020 Heel Turn. i'll never know. But if I'm trying to be objective, the number one thing I hate about this thing is the same thing I hate about all Tesla's: replacing all the vehicle controls with a giant touchscreen. It is so hard to build muscle memory without tactile buttons, switches, knobs - especially when you're trying to operate a 2-3 ton vehicle going highway speeds in moderate traffic.
Yeah, so you're one of those 'I don't like Elon having opinions' types.
Oooh poor thing, do you also don't buy other brands based on what the CEO does or doesn't?
You sound like another NPC with the latest media update: Elon =BAD! Scary 😂😂
It goes far beyond a difference of opinion, far more damaging. It's great that some people are standing up for what's right.
It’s the perfect vehicle for the person who hates driving
Car and driver made ad about the return of Pontiac and new models should ended up in motorweek.😊
Trunk made of junk
lol still outselling all other ev trucks, combined.
A lot of hate in the comments. I think it looks cool, especially for something that’s all electric.
First off the bed is 6’ long by 4’ wide. It is 6’ long for about 4” high. That’s it folks. It angles to 5’6”. A length just like the others. Hope you load isn’t higher than 4” with a 6’ length. It also has the smallest frunk for a full size electric truck.
As long as it’s an American car company
I’ll gladly monster truck this thing in my Silverado HD.
It’s a 2024 version of the Pontiac Aztec.
It’s an awesome truck with incredible technology. I love mine and love driving it.
Sorry i LOVE this thing, especially in black. Bring on the haters I don't care.
Naw - no hate - people got their preferences (especially around aesthetics) and that's a-ok.
So sorry, anything could be lovable
Looks like some guy named Billy Ray ( nick name Bubba ) built this in his garage with scraps after drinking way too many Natty Lights
A deeply flawed product (which this is) can still be really interesting. I’ve seen a few Cybertrucks in the wild. I think they’re neat. I particularly like the steer-by-wire technology.
First year on the road, production is still ramping up, yet it already has 48% of the EV truck market sales.
@rhettoracle9679 - New trucks to compete with are coming out everyday, don't see any more buyers for Tesla to grow its market share. GM, Ford and Rivain have access to the SCN and more CPO's building out more capacity every day, so no more advantage with DC charging.
@@kelviskelvis7140and yet the cyber truck is outselling all other ev trucks, combined.
What happens off road?
Or in bad weather?
Or doing any of the things pickups do?
...
Yeah, I thought so.
If you buy a vehicle to be looked at and many, many people do in this category then this takes the cake. I see Rivian drivers make a quick turn as to not let a Cybertruck pass it…..oh the shame lol.
Access to the supercharger network used to be a market differentiator but the F-150 Lightning and Rivian owners all have the same experience there now. It just costs a bit more for them.
Don't forget GM has access to SCN as well so not a market differentiator anymore.
Yet its selling more than them all combined at very high prices. Interesting phenomenon. Lots of good products in the space.
Food for thought. At least with newer generations of people especially those that played Death Stranding video game, they have learned energy management with the in game electric vehicles.
Well, the guys who designed the Aztek can now say something is uglier!
I see you had your thumb reattached after the cyber truck cut it off. The tattoo artist did a good job hiding the scar with a hook.
😂😂😂
Kind of suprised it has the lug caps. I feel like thats a detail most owners miss
lol.. on loan by a good friend of Motorweek
The CyberFail!!
6000 miles and it’s needing new tires 😂
It looks like a cool tank on the freeway. Not a fan of the triangle shape too much. I hope they make a revision in the future. Needs 500-800 miles of range tbh
I really dig the looks. I get the polarizing styling is not for everyone. To me the big drawbacks are the price and towing range.
Same! I like how it looks to be honest. The very sharp, distinct look. Very masculine.
There is also a new fault with these things. Plug it in and take a volt meter to it and you will see the body and lug nuts are carrying 120 volts of electricity.
There is a couple of videos circulating where you see the voltage going from 0 to 120 as soon as the cyberfail is plugged in.
Shocking!!
$100K grocery-getting attention-seeking triangle on 4 wheels
She ain't no SAAB!
Don’t touch stainless steel in Arizona heat. You’ll get scorched.
You can b!tch and b!itch and b!itch about how much you hate the design. You can't evade the fact that there are things to like about this truck. I think it's a solid vehicle.
I find very little things to like about this
@@CaptainCJ97 I've actually driven one and had one for a bit. There are LOTS to like about this.
IMO the design would look really good if it were *small* . Like, old Dodge Rampage size or smaller even than that.
I've already have towed 2 majorly broken ones!
"This Cybertruck was generously lended to us by a friend of the show."
So, some pro-Cybertruck warrior was so desperate to get his shit truck choice that he knows most people hate on an official auto show, he had to take advantage of his connections to Motorweek. That says it all.
We wouldn't have such a problem with EVs and Tesla if the people who support them didn't act like crazy cultists about it. As a messenger, don't want to be shot? Don't bring this message with any type of attitude.
Looks like a 1984 Nissan pulsar and a dumpster had a baby.
What's the rear view mirror for 🤔
ffs Take a stance! I'm sick of every reviewer trying to appeal to all audiences.
I think they $ay what they are told to $ay.
You're looking in the wrong places if you're coming to Motorweek for a critical review.
The cyber truck is a Hurst waiting to be burryed😂
What's the music in the end credits? I like it!
Were you in Cortland getting on 81 North? I saw a Cyber Truck but I thought it was maybe more grey.
100000 for a pickup 😂 remember when he said it was 39, 49, 69k for it depending on how many motors.
Yeah and when he said that a house was half as expensive as it is now. What's your point?
Wait, it actually didn’t break down while testing it?
The biggest question is where will it go from here?
I think Elon did what he wanted to do and go outside the box. That would normally mean many more options but the stainless steel limits the design possibilities, for now. I would love to see Tesla build a real truck that can be used for work and hauling without the frame breaking in half. But maybe there is enough people that just need a 4 door with a oversize trunk to keep the sales on par... Could this be the El Camino of it's time?
It looks worse in person
it really does. I will say I saw one with a nice wrap, and at least the finish was nice (like a satin black with hints of purple). but seeing it bare, it never has the "just polished an hour ago" look of the youtube videos. Any amount of just ordinary dust plus all the smudginess around the doors. It just looks kind of grimy compared the properly finished vehicles next to it. It looks like a commercial kitchen.
I think it looks cool in person, and everybody I've talked to said it looks better in person.
@@mezzb What do you mean "commercial kitchen" 💀It looks nothing like that.
If you want to diss it, at least make it make sense 💀
Some haters be saying shit like "it looks like my frying pan 🤓☝" like tf.
And this is why Jeremy Clarkson is just done with it...
It looks like it didn't even load in yet😭
New Electric Hummer is way better...and has 11,500 ft. Lbs of torque
People complain all vehicles look the same, then this comes out, and they hate it. I’m a CITY GUY, in L.A., Las Vegas, San Diego, San Francisco, and even Seattle, there are A LOT of Cybertrucks, and the city people I know LOVE IT. I know a lot people in Flyover States (Montana, Idaho, Wisconsin), they DO NOT like change, or things that are DIFFERENT (makes them nervous, and uncomfortable). Even my CITY clothes I wear when I visit these places gets picked apart!!! Everyone I know in these Flyover states HATES the Cybertruck………are you connecting the dots?! 🤷🏼♂️🤔😎🥂👌
I agree, I’ve driven it and it’s a blast
I'm in flyover country and I love it. I don't get the hate for the cybertruck or tesla in general. Get a life people. I'm sick of seeing the same thing year after year from the other manufacturers.
@@GrumpyXer …….There are ALWAYS exceptions, congratulations on having a different opinion from the norm! 😀👌
If you have to explain why it’s cool, doesn’t that also make you cool?
Cyber Truck is the highest selling vehicle over $100,000. Well done Tesla again. Brilliant. ❤️🔥
They sell these in the Himalayas?
Looks good, the most interesting thing to ever happen to pick up trucks. Impressive, but not my thing in so many ways.
Haters seem to be claiming it's too rugged and dangerous and yet fragile at the same time.
Good review, drove a friend’s, it was a blast
It looks the way it does because The Boss Said So, which means it's a styling-first project and its function is compromised for looks. To be fair, conventional pickups are too, a pickup truck designed for function first and foremost would be a European-style dropside body on a van chassis, something found in neither the Ram Promaster nor US Ford Transit lines since neither company is interested in those stealing sales from their cash cows.
As an introvert, I would never own one of these. I want quiet and unassuming, not "look at how much of an a--hole I am!" But I appreciate it existing.
Never have to worry about dents or scratches to the body or paint. Wish I could have one for a work truck.
No you don't
Oh my God! What the hell is that?!
I have the chevy with 150 more miles of range. F. Elon.
Elon must’ve paid off some serious $$ to DOT and NHTSA
Love the fastener through the accelerator
My old F150 does not track me and it runs on corn.
Still no hubcaps no roof lightbar no self driving. Exterior ugly and the interior is just cheap looking in 7 years it will be a $15k truck and in 10 it will be in a junkyard.
Lots of guessing here 😂
@@mcsike7264 these are not wild guesses. depreciation on EVs is massive. you can grab a 7 year old Model S ($92K new) for about $20K. Two reasons - battery degradation and service cost. Granted that's an EV thing not unique to Tesla. but yeah, this vehicle raises a lot of red flags saying you will not want one out of warranty, even as a prop.
@@mezzb hmm ppl do be buying lot of used teslas/evs so the cyber truck will be no different I talk to many ppl and most have the same answer "am waiting for it to be cheaper" or "am waiting for the non foundation series" so it will be fine
I like my Cyberbeast better than my S Class Mercedes, and yet all these scorners who have never driven one nor can afford are online commenting about it! Just got my aero covers and light bar. Full self driving will come soon. There’s also going to be motor fails which are being replaced and windshield wiper motors. Who cares! Tesla is making it right. Most fun and best driving vehicle I’ve ever owned.
Design by Fridgidaire
Remember Mad Magazine's Spy vs Spy; we have your vehicle.
Like any Tesla, the interior looks cold and barren. Interiors made by LADA ??
Looking forward to owning one in a few years.
After driving our new Model Y for a bit I have to say the driving dynamics impressed me. The instant throttle and heavy steering are awesome it makes my 2024 truck feel ancient.
