That wasn't even something that even came to mind (shows how much Freddy is recognized around DbD, lol!) but that's honestly a great point. Although there *is* always the sort of general complications that come with licensed things. I wouldn't see why the company would say "no" to BHVR coming to them like "hey we can make your licensed character more interesting so more people buy it and more purchases = more money" but you never know with how stringent license holders can be sometimes. Like for example, Andrez Sjapkowski (sorry I'm probably butchering the spelling, but he's the author for the Witcher novels) apparently disliked Witcher 3 I think for the reason of it not being an identical story to the books (don't quote me on that) even despite it being a massive success of a game. So maybe the profit wouldn't be enough depending on the license holder you're asking.
coming back to this a few weeks later, Langquid Touch pairs well with spys from the shadows, The Crows tells you where the survivor is, and you chase them before their exhaustion ends.
Power wise, he seems like he was designed by survivor mains. Every spell has counter-play built into it, plus the magical items basically counter them for you. Survivors can get magical items before The Lich even casts his first spell. Totally balanced and fun. As a huge D&D nerd and Vecna fan since 2nd edition AD&D, the current version of Vecna is 100% not worth buying. At all. Not without a lot of buffs and tweaks to his spells and even the items. The items should assist you against him, not render him basically powerless. The only good thing about Vecna right now is that Matt Mercer is voicing him. I agree with you about the survivor/killer perks all being meme tier, but Bardic Performance is definitely going to be used in SWF just like Hyperfocus. As for Still Mind, the 4 seconds only exists because it's literally free aura reading on the killer. Combine it with Open Handed and you basically become a security camera for your team. SWF is going to love that one too.
6:12 Eesh, yeah that- That sucks. I'd expect a picked up pallet to be blocked for like, at least a couple seconds. So you could actually, potentially get value out of picking it up and possibly get a hit out of it- But nah. You'd legitimately get more value out of just kicking the downed pallet, because picking it back up just gave them a free stun on you, with absolutely no value for you in turn.
I mean you wouldn't pick up a pallet from the same side the survivor is. in the video he quite literally picked up the pallet for the survivor to stun him with then dc'd. you shouldn't take an obvious misplay and come to that conclusion.
@@namjeff1419 Wouldn't the effect be the same if the survivor was on the other side, though? Vecna pick it up to get to the survivor, then the survivor immediately being able to stun him as soon as the pallet is up.
@@namjeff1419 How I expected it to work is more along the lines of- It takes a second or two to actually lift the pallet- Faster than breaking it, but still enough time for a survivor on the other side to run away to the next tile. As well as preventing a survivor on the same side from vaulting during those couple seconds, essentially trapping them- Like how the doctor's shock does. Then after that couple of seconds, once it's finally lifted, the pallet would be blocked for a couple more seconds at least. Maybe a full four seconds like just blocking normally does. Preventing it being slammed back down on the Vecna as soon as it's lifted rendering the use of mage-hand completely useless, like in the clip. This would secure Vecna a chance to get past the pallet and catch up to the survivor faster than if they wasted time breaking it, possibly being able to trap a survivor in a dead-end with a currently-lifting pallet without giving them the chance to just slam it back down on him as soon as the animation is finished, while ultimately leaving the pallet still on the map for survivors to potentially take advantage of in the future, versus if the Vecna just broke it. Y'know, making lifting pallets actually somewhat worthwhile, because as it is, it seems you're just completely better off breaking any pallets instead. Which, at that point, why do you even have the power if it's literally just a complete detriment to use it?

As someone with less than 300h in the game right now, I do have almost only good games with him, but I already know, the more I play and get better survivors the more it is just gonna hurt playing him, even though he did get significant buffs on release. But looking at the perks there are somethings that do have value. Since Fly has a post-cast 2.5 slow, combining his Vault Speed Perk with another Vault Speed Perk like Bamboozle, makes it almost worth more to use Vault than Fly. So you can keep Fly as catch-up for previously scouted locations (like with dispelling sphere or his Aura Read Perk) The Aura Reveal of Survivors around Items is kinda cool, and I'd say there is value in that. Of course, the more experienced a survivor becomes, the more they will pay attention to pick up even their depleted items, but you could always pair it with Franklins Demise and get like nice little pockets of Aura reading from hitting basic attacks. The Crow Perk simply needs better uptime. You, as always, can pair it with other Crow Perks, like the one that gives you a notification when someone scares a crow in your terror radius. Also for you dnd nerds, dont at me about making a once a day a repeatable power vecna has basically unlimited spell slots.
I personally think Vecna's one of the coolest designed killers they've released in a hot minute. But yeah, hoping that he's responsibly buffed in time for live release, so that way he's not super weak to play but not super oppressive to play against.
9:50 Did you test Weave Attunement on Wesker? People usually drop his spray cans when done with them, and survivors can't drop Pinheads cube, so it might work on him
I am deadass willing to prestige Vecna to P100 just for the sheer fact of him being voiceovered by Matt Mercer, regardless of what BHVR do with his basekit and addons for the live release.
in every video abt Vecna I hear a statement that buffing himjust a little bit too much, he would become uncounterable. I feel like everone forgeting, that magical items exist EXACTLY TO COUNTER HIM. So I honestly advocate to buff Vecna massively, but also make magic items slightly better, to actually give a chanse against his power. SOme items already gives you haste while he uses mage hand. Make item that make you immune to orb revealing, or litteraly, showing auras of a sceletons is fine too. It would also create an interesting dynamik, where you need to choose from which powers do you want protection, cause right now, it is all the same. You counter Vecna by existing and magic items just show you his aura, for some reason, which makes him even weaker
Agree with all the takes, I’d love to see vecna be significantly stronger. Worst thing that could happen is they spend all this time and resources making a killer no one wants to play because you have to put in much more than you get out of him in terms of value

actually MOST good players agree with me: his powers aren't useless or weak at all, just the cooldown is too much especially for the sluggishness it gives you you don't have any idea what my history with dbd is.
thats ridiculous. thats the equivalent of giving a killer 999% vaulting speed for a 60 second cooldown. that invalidates superior anatomy instantly. a billy would just walk through any window then start his chainsaw, same with bubba. anyone waiting out a 10 second bt can just follow you through a fast vault.
I almost think that if mage hand picks up a pallet, it should drop it back down after like 5 seconds so you can come back and break it without giving Any Means Necessary value.
As a D&D guy, they seriously underpowered Vecna. I mean, I know they gotta make the game balanced and all but thise dude could level the playing field with a thought.... no I mean literally, completely level it... like nuke it into the ground.
I am excited about this chapter I love dnd so this chapter is exciting for me and I can’t wait to get my hands on this chapter. However I totally agree that vecna needs to have some things buffed and changed before it is fully released.
HARD disagree about Weave Attunement. It sounds like an amazing perk to pair with Franklin's. Franklin's alone has won me countless of games from people literally 4 man throwing themselves at me to save items. This perk will be the cherry on top.
Wasted potential. Could have use hand to grip and regress a generator for the duration of the match. Have his ghost (only 2) go after survivors like a heat seeking missle as a massive pressure tool. Have circle reduce surv perk effectiveness by 2%. Then reduce cooldown for each dead survivor. DnD collab down the trash, really they could not have made an entirely new map.
It's a very big letdown. To be honest, because the perks on both sides are trash and the killer is extremely underwhelming. He needs a red ad on to be relevant
Idk Survivor perks look fun at the very least. And for Vecna he’ll probably be buffed before going live, hopefully they don’t go too far where they have to nerf him in 6 months though.
He needs quite a few buffs, but I've never been happier with BHVR. This is the first licensed killer in 9 months whose power doesn't boil down to a cliche Demogorgon-esque midrange zoning tool. And for the love of all that is holy if this guy gets Freddied, I'm going to fly right over to BHVR HQ and cement Lego spikes into every square inch of the floor.
I feel like for the survivor illusion perk, an idea could be to make the illusion show up when the killer has aura reading perks, that way the illusion could potentialy waste the killers time by making them think they see a survivor with barbecue or other aura reveals.
Another devs trying to leech on BG3 success ( and Stranger Things season with Vecna ofc ) . Behaviour have no idea how to create something by themselves.
I completely disagree, his design is great and fits his Character perfectly. But they had to release him cautiously because if he was to powerful one way he would be uncounterable. So I imagine that this PTB was like a testing ground to really see how well Vecna is and are going to buff him for live release...
@@TheD3mogorgon If so why are there TWO counters to his skeletons? Why can you go in-between them (the one that should stay) AND crouch under them? (The "counter" that should be removed) I'll answer for you. They played it wayyy too safe for fear of making a killer that's "too strong" and instead made a weak one
Stop buying killers that suck just because of it's "potential". This is dbd's problem as a whole. People financially keep supporting this game because of its potential and what they want it to be, not for what it is right now. Because of all that, here we are, in another chapter full of bugs that hasn't been fixed. The dbd brain rot is real and BHVR, rightfully so, take you all for suckers
I concur except for the perk Still Sight. Making it so that it works after only 2 seconds would make it pretty bonkers in chase and would nullify many many mindgames in many situations. I feel like it is kind of a chase perk and meant to be used at longer loops for example. Imagine standing at a pallet at a longer loop and knowing exactly where the killer is while said killer is trying to mindgame it. Speaking of seeing the killers aura, why is there still no distortion equivalent for killer to nullify perks like this, Fogwise or Alert, and of course keys? Meanwhile distortion counters like 20 perks and some 50 and change addons.
It is a great perk but it is specifically set at 4 seconds to not be classified as a chase perk. It's to give you info while you are working on gens. It's a safety net of vision around you and frankly I am all for it. Anyone with some time in this game knows the jump scare a Pig can give you on Swamp. This will always be up while working on gens and I think that alone is pretty strong. The extra stuff like chest vision was just thrown on there so it could have some more value (most likely at least) but I think that part is pretty negligible.
It has always amazed me that survivors need to "git guud", or it's all a "skill issue" lmao whenever something is opposed in DBD, but killer mains need braindead add ons that lower the skill ceiling in order to "get value" from a killer. We all know DBD is going to buff the crap out of this killer to satisfy whiny killer mains and this killer will be miserable to go against.
There names are not hard at all to pronounce for example her name is pronounced like the word Astral but with an I at the end instead of an L i know there names are different but i don't think you should disrespect them because they have different names. like dont how if this is just a Persona/bit to be funny but you come off as really passive-aggressive when you say it

I honestly think that Vecna had to be designed by clueless r/dbd survivor mains.
What do you expect ? Their logic is oh pig high killrate nerf nerf nerf . They never touch killer in high mmr .
@@veladanjbakht140 cough, cough Insta down nurse
So Almo?
I completely disagree, his design is great and fits his Character perfectly. But they had to release him cautiously because if he was to powerful one way he would be uncounterable. So I imagine that this PTB was like a testing ground to really see how well Vecna is and are going to buff him for live release...
@@TheD3mogorgon If so why are there TWO counters to his skeletons? Why can you go in-between them (the one that should stay) AND crouch under them? (The "counter" that should be removed)
I'll answer for you. They played it wayyy too safe for fear of making a killer that's "too strong" and instead made a weak one
"Stop being cringe and have fun!"
Trapper that's free is like A tier in comparison to this shit
i just like dnd.

@@negentropyagent7337 I got no friends to play it with, and I like DBD too.
*Heh, just another example of why I quit playing over 2 months ago. 8 years and still a shit game with shit people.*
Another Killer that isn't worth buying... weak killer, weak perks, pending nerfs on iri red addons...
I was there during the stream! Great video, as always.
Maybe but I like my slow gen down perks!!!
I might get the survivors special the female one!!!
Hold on a sec. Is the new survivor an elf?
As someone who has played tons of elven characters in Dragon Age, I approve of this chapter :D
The whole thing seems super lame to me
Bad to the bone
🤔
It has always amazed me that survivors need to "git guud", or it's all a "skill issue" lmao whenever something is opposed in DBD, but killer mains need braindead add ons that lower the skill ceiling in order to "get value" from a killer. We all know DBD is going to buff the crap out of this killer to satisfy whiny killer mains and this killer will be miserable to go against.
Have you ever seen survivor perks? 😂
There names are not hard at all to pronounce for example her name is pronounced like the word Astral but with an I at the end instead of an L i know there names are different but i don't think you should disrespect them because they have different names. like dont how if this is just a Persona/bit to be funny but you come off as really passive-aggressive when you say it
And um actually it's a Lute and not a Guitar 🤓😆
you used the wrong form of "There".
