And he spent most of the time after that sleeping. So, he wasn't much younger than he is in this scene. Although it could be said that he was young during both events, since he's apparently only 19.

In the defense of Sypha and Trevor, they both thought that maybe Alucard needed some alone time to come to terms with what’s happened. Sometimes those who suffer losses need time to themselves.

Dracula implied that was just superstition. Maybe it works, maybe it doesn't. It's not clear. It only annoyed Drac, and Alucard is only half vamp, and a powerhouse to boot, so whether garlic works is.... unclear. It's like how the running water debate wasn't actually answered since it was also blessed.

I can appreciate the fact that Alucard's sarcasm has both humor and the pain of loneliness in it. It shows that despite how antisocial Trevor is and how Sypha is full of love yet not targeted at Alucard - he lashes out in an immature rant with a core of truth that only a juvenile can pull off right. Basically he just wants to be loved and you can't blame him for it. By the way, the voice actors have clearly enjoyed making this scene. Oh the injokes.
The wait I seen it when I watched it was that he is miss them a lot. He play them as flawed but he wish that they be here annoying them with their flaw instead of them being away, leaving him alone.

Alucard and Trevor found camaraderie with one another. But eventually the people around them told them to attack either side. Of course Alucard was smart enough not to follow his vampiric instinct but they are still his people and the Belmonts kill indiscriminately. Meanwhile, Trevor's clan was killed by the very people they sought to protect. Both characters are forced to take the mantle of their families while being left with trauma to cope with and they are both distrusting to anyone.
Which fits his impressions of them. Trevor is "that scruffy bastard who tried to kick me in the nuts when we met" and Sypha is "the smart and well mannered one"
Considering that he’s probably a teenager, lost both his parents in the space of two years, probably grew up with no friends, and the only friends he have now left after helping him kill his father... I think leaving alucard in isolation may not have been the healthiest thing for him
Still not entirely sure on why they left. I mean you could argue that its partially their responsibility to help clean up the mess Dracula's army made ,not to mention the looming threat of Carmilla and Isaac. But , still, Alucard's descent this season was really painfull to watch, especially after what he's alredy been through. We can only hope that Maria comes along next season to be to him what Lisa was to his father

I think the saddest thing about this is not just him being depressed and quickly losing his mind. It's the fact that he's completely self-aware and conscious about it, and can't really do anything but sit there and keep rotting until life does its thing and something happens

He has to guard the castle and Belmont estate because of their magical and advanced scientific secrets. Trevor and Sypha are much weaker than him but are needed to fight against Carmilla while he has to be the last defense against intruders.
@@PhoenixFires True…But given Sypha witnessed Adrian wasn’t okay by literally holding his shaking hands and that Trevor is well acquainted with how painful losing family is -and perhaps even more painful for Adrian since he lost his mother to her own kind, she taught him to accept and respect, plus saw the descent of his father, having to kill him- they could have *at least* stayed for a week to make sure he would manage, or to give him an indication they care for him. I just cannot fathom that Sypha and Trevor literally left immediately after their supposed new friend, because who abandons friends like this, killed his father in what would be blatantly obvious to anyone that was his childhood bedroom. But who cares because “wohoo let’s go have an adventure.” Sypha and Trevor’s (though mostly Sypha in this case) adventure and open door to a relationship was at the cost of Adrian’s suffering and loneliness. It was at least partly selfish of them to leave.
Because all of the characters were young and flawed from the beginning and weren't exactly the nicest or best of people. Trevor and Sypha had a thing going and Alucard was mostly just a more distanced third wheel who couldn't seem to get close to either of them like he wanted. It's meant to emphasize much of the loneliness being a half vampire born to Dracula the monster himself would carry. Both the human world and the vampire one wouldn't easily accept him. Only his parents did, and they were dead. In the end neither of them were able to fully empathize with Alucard having to kill his own father. Trevor presents The Belmont hold to him like an honorable gift, but ultimately was just shoving the responsibility of having to preserve his families legacy onto him as he didn't really want to do it in the first place. We see the stark contrast between both realities with Trevor and Sypha getting ready for the next adventure with their task completed, and Alucard left in the decrepit ruins of his dead family's home. It is supposed to show us the difference between a hero's idealistic vision of saving the world versus the realistic situation that shit needs actually to be rebuilt and simply destroying "the big bad" doesn't necessarily save the world, nor does it remove any of the problems that come after. Lindenfeld and a bunch of fucked up shit shattering this illusion is what really ties their reunion with Alucard together really well. They eventually come to terms with a fix their original mistake of leaving all of the burden of reconstruction on him.

I, like many in the comments, couldn’t understand why Trevor and Sypha would just leave Alucard there, but I think I get it a little. It isn’t just the storytelling thing. They aren’t actual friends with Alucard. There aren’t that many tender moments where they bare open their hearts to one another or times when they have fun to have fun and not to cope with the weight of the task on their shoulders. They don’t know him truly, so they assumed he’d be okay. I think part of it is their assumptions about vampires (which I could liken to a white person saying they’re not racist but not realizing that they have implicit biases against certain races), one of which could be that because they drink blood and hunt humans, vampires feel no great loss or heartache, and if they do, it’s because they were taught to do so by a human, which was the case of Dracula himself. So, they thought “Alucard’s half vampire, he’ll be fine. He’ll be thousands of years old, why would he have a hard time after everything he’s already lived through?” That’s not to excuse their behavior, but it is an explanation for it.
Alucard likely isn't even 20 yet, and within a year he's lost both of his parents in extremely traumatic deaths, one of which he directly caused. He's honestly holding it together fairly well.

Things I absolutely adored about this scene: 1) the impressions he did of Trevor and Sypha and being the absolute child that he is 2) God, not the music SLOWLY fading out while he impersonated Trevor 3) the fact that the dish had garlic in it (then again, he's a Dhampir, technically, and got both the best traits of his parents. So, he could most probably be *alright* when eating garlic......?) 4) Alucard best boi. Just... very broken. Pls give him hugs.

Ik a lot of people don't like the direction they took Alucard this season, (nobody likes seeing a character they liked break) but I feel this scene actually was really well done, and is probably my favourite scene this season.
I liked this take on Alucard, tbh. Most of those people who hated it probably forgot that Alucard is still half-human. All the event that happened to him (losing his mother, killing his own father, and being left alone) is still recent, he's probably having mental breakdown, also the loneliness made it worse.
The fact that this is how he gets introduced in season is just really hard hitting, like the show doesn’t try to hide the fact that alucard is depressed and misses his friends and to make it worse the show then gives alucard the worst 3 way ever
This scene was played for comedy with the impersonations, but it also makes me so deeply sad for Alucard. He now has TWO HOMES, but that means nothing when he has no one left to share them with.
Loneliness to an immortal is some truly depressing stuff, I could see them falling into ruts like this where they make friends and part ways and just wallow in the memories hoping never to make more friends because it would happen all over again, preferring solitude to remembering they could be happier.

Why Alucard called his fathers wrathful vengeance “The worlds longest suicide note”. I imagine the first couple centuries would be alright and living to see the advancement of civilization but at some point you’ll go stir crazy, lose meaning, and at some point just trying to antagonize someone enough to make them drive a stake into your heart.
And this is why Alucard choose to sleep after he helped Trevor in the game, idling away alone, doing nothing and having no purpose can do a number on one's mind it's better to sleep for eternity than go mad with boredom......that or buy a cellphone.
Immortality sound so boring to me you can live forever do anything you want good or bad after that what's next, even the brilliant mind at some point will lose interest. How many years Dracula live and when his wife find him it was the moment he start to move again after lose her he falls in a depressed state because he already did so much theres nothing left to do.
There's a reason so much fiction paints immortality as sucking terribly, because it kind of does. When you can't die of old age time starts to lose meaning, so you don't really feel the difference between months and years the same way a normal person does, and you have to live with the knowledge that you're ultimately going to outlive all your friends and loved ones.
What a depressing start to an even more depressing season. Can someone please just give Alucard a blanket, cookies and his friends back. He needs the biggest hug.

I wonder how many times Alucard's VA had to redo this scene because giggled halfway? This is perhaps both one of the funniest and saddest scenes in the show, showing how Alucard was (not) coping with isolation, murdering his dad, so on and so forth.

This scene is both genuinely funny and tragic simultaneously. Alucard watched his mother burn to death and killed his own father because he had basically gone insane. When he finally meets people that he can call friends, they ditch him and go on their own adventures, leaving him behind in Dracula's old, derelict castle, completely isolated from any human/vampire contact. Yet he still has the wit to say something as hilarious as this.

God it's killing me seeing Alucard in this state but I have to credit the writers for taking the opportunity to explore him dealing with his grief and mental state instead of sweeping it under the rug. Have to say that his impersonations for Trevor and Sypha were spot on and cracked me up, though I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. 😟
It will be interesting to see what kind of person Alucard has become in the 300 years since he fought alongside Trevor and Sypha. If they plan on more Castlevania adaptations hopefully they keep him recurring and we see him in the modern-day.

I will never understand why Sypha and Trevor agreed to just leave him there instead of staying with him for a little while or taking him with them.
He has to guard the castle and Belmont estate because of their magical and advanced scientific secrets. Trevor and Sypha are much weaker than him but are needed to fight against Carmilla while he has to be the last defense against intruders.

I just cannot fathom that Sypha and Trevor literally left immediately after their supposed new friend, because who abandons friends like this, killed his father in what would be blatantly obvious to anyone that was his childhood bedroom. But who cares because “wohoo let’s go have an adventure.” Sypha and Trevor’s (though mostly Sypha in this case) adventure and open door to a relationship was at the cost of Adrian’s suffering and loneliness. It was at least partly selfish of them to leave.

Because all of the characters were young and flawed from the beginning and weren't exactly the nicest or best of people. Trevor and Sypha had a thing going and Alucard was mostly just a more distanced third wheel who couldn't seem to get close to either of them like he wanted. It's meant to emphasize much of the loneliness being a half vampire born to Dracula the monster himself would carry. Both the human world and the vampire one wouldn't easily accept him. Only his parents did, and they were dead.
In the end neither of them were able to fully empathize with Alucard having to kill his own father. Trevor presents The Belmont hold to him like an honorable gift, but ultimately was just shoving the responsibility of having to preserve his families legacy onto him as he didn't really want to do it in the first place. We see the stark contrast between both realities with Trevor and Sypha getting ready for the next adventure with their task completed, and Alucard left in the decrepit ruins of his dead family's home. It is supposed to show us the difference between a hero's idealistic vision of saving the world versus the realistic situation that shit needs actually to be rebuilt and simply destroying "the big bad" doesn't necessarily save the world, nor does it remove any of the problems that come after.
Lindenfeld and a bunch of fucked up shit shattering this illusion is what really ties their reunion with Alucard together really well. They eventually come to terms with a fix their original mistake of leaving all of the burden of reconstruction on him.
@@conor1534 this was so well-explained, and I actually agree with so many of the points you made here. I, like many in the comments, couldn’t understand why Trevor and Sypha would just leave Alucard there, but I think I get it a little.
It isn’t just the storytelling thing. They aren’t actual friends with Alucard. There aren’t that many tender moments where they bare open their hearts to one another or times when they have fun to have fun and not to cope with the weight of the task on their shoulders. They don’t know him truly, so they assumed he’d be okay.
I think part of it is their assumptions about vampires (which I could liken to a white person saying they’re not racist but not realizing that they have implicit biases against certain races), one of which could be that because they drink blood and hunt humans, vampires feel no great loss or heartache, and if they do, it’s because they were taught to do so by a human, which was the case of Dracula himself. So, they thought “Alucard’s half vampire, he’ll be fine. He’ll be thousands of years old, why would he have a hard time after everything he’s already lived through?”
That’s not to excuse their behavior, but it is an explanation for it.

Ik a lot of people don't like the direction they took Alucard this season, (nobody likes seeing a character they liked break) but I feel this scene actually was really well done, and is probably my favourite scene this season.
I liked this take on Alucard, tbh. Most of those people who hated it probably forgot that Alucard is still half-human. All the event that happened to him (losing his mother, killing his own father, and being left alone) is still recent, he's probably having mental breakdown, also the loneliness made it worse.

Loneliness to an immortal is some truly depressing stuff, I could see them falling into ruts like this where they make friends and part ways and just wallow in the memories hoping never to make more friends because it would happen all over again, preferring solitude to remembering they could be happier.

Immortality sound so boring to me you can live forever do anything you want good or bad after that what's next, even the brilliant mind at some point will lose interest. How many years Dracula live and when his wife find him it was the moment he start to move again after lose her he falls in a depressed state because he already did so much theres nothing left to do.
There's a reason so much fiction paints immortality as sucking terribly, because it kind of does. When you can't die of old age time starts to lose meaning, so you don't really feel the difference between months and years the same way a normal person does, and you have to live with the knowledge that you're ultimately going to outlive all your friends and loved ones.
Immortality IS depressing. A countless string of funerals and well wishes as your psyche pulls itself apart.

This is perhaps both one of the funniest and saddest scenes in the show, showing how Alucard was (not) coping with isolation, murdering his dad, so on and so forth.
A sign of a breaking psyche, yes, but it really is sweet to see how much Alucard loves his only real friends.

This scene is both genuinely funny and tragic simultaneously. Alucard watched his mother burn to death and killed his own father because he had basically gone insane. When he finally meets people that he can call friends, they ditch him and go on their own adventures, leaving him behind in Dracula's old, derelict castle, completely isolated from any human/vampire contact.
Yet he still has the wit to say something as hilarious as this.
