After just making an eyeglass case using batting and wrestling to turn it with all that bulk, I am so happy to know I can use flannel to make it easier to turn next time!!! I learn someth8ng new everytime I watch. Thank you for your videos!
Lovely video, lots of people will be making the bag Im sure. Just a thought, if you turn you stud press to the side when you use it, you will then have the full pressure from both you arms and you will still be able to see what you are doing. x
Becky, I just finished the project. I added a three letter monogram that I just did in the Luminaire. I saved the monogram, and then brought it back after I loaded the design. It worked out perfectly. And boy were you right about how hard it was to turn but I got it done. I couldn’t have done it without your video, so thank you for a great video.
Great tutorial! I feel confident enough now to purchase this design. But --- my laptop will be by my side with this video qued-up next to me! Thank you, Becky!
Thank you so much for this step by step tutorial. I would never have been able to complete this project without it!!! I don't know what I did wrong but mine came out thicker than yours. I had trouble completing the last 2 steps. Mine was really bulky...and I used flannel!!! If I make another one I will probably use just regular fabric for the batting section. Also my small straps for my D rings were very narrow and bulky.
I love this phone case and instructions were easy ro follow. I am going to make this but how long should I make the cross over strap and how do I attach it to the the ring without using cam snaps and still be able to remove the strap? I love all your projects and have downloaded several and can't wait to get started on this one. I haven't used my embroidery machine much but i will now. Thanks sooooo much.
Hi Becky! I know I have that design somewhere. I guess I need to not only organize my sewing room, I need to organize my hard drive downloads too. As soon as I gather my supplies and find the design, I'll be back!
I wanted to add a monogram, but I didn't know how to save it and bring it into the design. I have an Epic 2 and the bag was loaded from my computer to a thumb drive. Embrilliance seems so user-friendly compared to Sewnet.
Great tutorial! I just upgraded to a Brother Innova 1700 with a 6x10 hoop and I may be crazy but I love ITH projects. Why do you use the poly mesh stabilizer instead of a midweight cutaway or tearaway for this?
Wow! I loved this...thanks for taking the time to walk us through. Definitely on my to do list. I would like to add that I truly learn something new, sewing wise, when I watch your videos. Thanks again!
I don’t have an embroidery machine BUT loved watching this tutorial! That was so cool to watch, Becky you gave an excellent tutorial‼️. It encourages me to make one with maybe an appliqués monogrammed letter. Thank you for this awesome, detailed walk through. You are so right, yours did turn out awesome ❣️👍
Becky, I found your channel last night and quickly became a subscriber. I have watched several videos and I have learned so much already. I love DBJJ designs and I am so glad to find you and be able to watch and sew along with you. You are the best teacher I have found. You are making me want to buy Embrilliance Essentials and the Thumbnailer module. I use a software suite that came with my Brother VM-5100. I have been using this for 5 years, but I can see that Embrillence does things that my software does not. Girl, you have enlightened me. LOL
Thank you and welcome! Glad you're here! I'm sure your existing software is good, but I just find Embrilliance Essentials to be so much more user-friendly than other software on the market. I know once you get used to what you have, it's hard to change, but for the cost? It's definitely worth a try. Thumbnailer for sure even if you don't get the Essentials package. Here's a quick video to help choose. Thank you again! ruclips.net/video/mplU0N2NeH4/видео.html
So sad to hear. But that's why I gave the warning up front. I know in several years (hopefully), I'll have a tough time with turning things as well so I wanted to let others know. Take care!
Love watching your tutorials Becky even though I don't have an embroidery machine. The whole process is interesting to me and you're such a great teacher. That zipper got stitched on easy peasy. Amazing!
You made this look easy! I know it’s not easy so am very impressed that you explained it so well I would like to know the size hoop you used in this project. My embroidery machine is not as big so am not sure I can make this to fit my phone. Thanks for this, and all your tutorials.
I collected them over the years using the Daily Deal from Missouri Star Quilt Company and the daily flash sale from Fat Quarter Shop. Seemed there was a package arriving daily! Slowly but surely I built my stash of fabric and tools, all the while, learning along the way.
Becky this sure looks an awfulot like an Embroidry Garden ITH pattern I've had for many years! You are totally right about not using batting. Its neatly imposdible to turn the darn thing through the little hole Can you just use the embroudary design file to just add the monogram to the flap? I still don't get Embrilliance - my screens don't look like yours. Lol
Hey Ellen, if your machine can do it, you might be able to add a monogram to the flap using the machine's software. I checked EG and didn't see a bag that has a flap and zipper in the back. But Reen has a bunch of great little bags!
I can't do that on mine. You have to have opted out of mid-roll ads by 7/27 and I seemed to have missed that boat. :( I looked for the setting to change it and it's grayed out. Dang.
Great! I was watching Joy Bernhardt’s latest video this morning and she had been complaining about the ads/political ads, then on this latest video she said she figured out how to stop the interruptions during her videos. I immediately thought about you! 😉☺️
Mine were a 1". For my final project, I ended up making them a bit wider than the directions called for. And if I had to do over, I'd move them a tiny bit more to center.
Really like the case and u did a beautiful job, but I believe it needs the snap. That device u used is over 60 dollars. Is there a cheaper way to put in a snap?
That's a paper tape made by 3M. You can get one roll of a famous brand company embroidery tape for $4, or 12 rolls of this for $10. I think this is sticker than painter's tape, but not so sticky as to gunk up a needle. It's my favorite. I linked it in the description box.
I bought this file but had no clue where to start! Thank you! I am new to sewing and only have 9” zippers. Can a zipper be cut to the size needed for this project? Thanks in advance. Still need that birth announcement video tutorial!!❤️
Yes, you can use a longer zipper. Just lay it on the same way, and trim off what you don’t need later. Becky cut off part of the zipper at the end - you will just cut off more.
Becky, I love ITH's and you're the best teacher!! I want to get started on these.. do you know if you can use a USB memory stick on the Baby Lock Esante BLN? I need a machine!!!
Hi Becky, I have messed this phone case 2x I hope you helped me figure it out. I think I put fabric before placement stitch and it closed my entire bag shut. Live and learn. I was wondering if the flap fit your 1H because mine is much smaller than the bag. @powertoolswiththread. Thank you for your service!
Yes, my flap fit. Perhaps you grabbed the wrong flap pattern piece? If both of your flap attempts failed, I'd reload the pattern before stitching again. Also, put the body piece into Embrilliance and then add the flap and look to see that the widths match. Good luck!
Hi, Becky love watching your tutorials, i have a question about your pq 1500, what thread do you used? have you order bobbins/ needles off of amazon before,I'm not sure about ordering from them.
The 1500 is hard on thread because it's "this close" to being an industrial machine. I just love it and it's a real workhorse. Because it's hard on thread, a famous and well-loved popular thread breaks constantly in the 1500 (at least it does on mine). So I use Connecting Threads Essential cotton thread. It seems to be a bit stronger than the other brand and not too linty. And I purchase the bobbins and needles on Amazon for it all the time. They work just fine. I've added links to my stuff in the description box. Thanks for asking and thanks for using my links!
I highly discourage you from doing this. You run the risk of not only not having any type of warranty, but your odds of down right theft is very high. I wouldn't do it.
You are best teacher is their ever a time u can email you if having a problem so u can walk me Thur it I have Essential and Brother software up to 8 and brother older machine about 8 years old Thanks jean
Gurl...you need to look at Brother embroidery machines. More bang for your buck. They are made in the same manufacturing plant as the BabyLock machines. Same, same, same. Like a GMC and a Chevy; Lincoln and a Ford. Same parts, same sounds, same functions. Except the Brother will give you more functions for less money. Why? I have no clue. But my piecing machine, the Brother PQ1500SL is less than $500 and the BL Jane is $1400. I nearly fell over when I saw that price tag in a quilt store a couple of years ago. I literally stood there staring at the price tag with my mouth hanging open. Those machines are IDENTICAL even down to the pin stripe colors on the casing. The BL Solaris and the Brother Luminaire are IDENTICAL in every single way - except the color of the casing and the price - and the Brother gives you access to Disney designs the BL does not. I'm not trashing Baby Lock - they make a great machine. But I personally think you can get more used machine for your money if you consider Brother machines. They are not more cheaply made (as some will tell you) than Baby Lock. Brother will make less expensive models that sell in WalMart that Baby Lock doesn't, but under the hood, the guts and technology of the machines are the same.
I like 'Gurl'....lol I wish I could find a Brother machine on sale! I look everyday on eBay, Craigslist. I either want a Brother 4500d or one like yours-(would you believe there's a 6000d and they're asking $6000)? If you hear anyone selling theirs, let me know. I'm not too keen on the new machines and I like the big screens on those machines.
THIS HASN'T NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS VIDEO. HAVE YOU SEEN THE GNOME STUFFIE - IN - THE- HOOP BY PARKER ON THE PORCH? I THOUGHT OF YOUR T-SHIRT WHEN I SAW THE VIDEO, THAT IS WHY I ASKED YOU THIS QUESTION.

You are such an incredible teacher!!!!!!!!! I wish I lived close to your shop so that I could take your classes! Thank you so much!
Thanks Becky, I think I’m finally going to try this.
Do you make all your t shirts? They are beautiful!
Would you please make a video, how you do it?
Sadly no, I usually buy my t-shirts. I'm not much of a vinyl or sublimination ink crafter. I wouldn't have the room! lol
Thank you so much. I am a visual learner and your videos help me so much!!!

Looks very complicated but you make things look so easy to make. Great teacher
Thanks so much 😊 I'm happy to show it's not as hard as it looks if you just follow step-by-step. It has great printed instructions too.
I love this phone case and instructions were easy ro follow. That's so cute. I love it .
Fantastic tutorial!!! Yes, how did those chips get there?! LOL. Funny, that happens to me sometimes. You made me laugh right out loud.
Great tutorial! I just upgraded to a Brother Innova 1700 with a 6x10 hoop and I may be crazy but I love ITH projects. Why do you use the poly mesh stabilizer instead of a midweight cutaway or tearaway for this?
Very easy to follow, as usual! Thanks, Becky.

Thanks for another excellent tutorial. When changing the thread colors, do you knot the new thread to the old color and run it through the needle?
Yes and no. I knot them together and run them through all the thread guides and tension discs, but do not run the knot through the needle.
Love it x❤
That was wonderful. I have an old machine (Ellegante by Babylock) Can in DDH projects be done. And what iron do you have ?
Great job! Did you increase the size of you tabs to fit the straight side of your D-ring?

Thanks for the tutorial! So helpful to see it done! ❤️
Love your bag! Great job on the tutorial.
Becky, Joy found a setting in her Youture that allowed her to stop the ads that run during your tutorials/chats!
I can't do that on mine. You have to have opted out of mid-roll ads by 7/27 and I seemed to have missed that boat. :( I looked for the setting to change it and it's grayed out. Dang.
I figured it out! I have to wait for the video to upload though so it can't be done right away.

I have a 5 x 7 hoop for Brother Innovis. Can I use a multi hoop to make a longer phone bag.
I love all your videos but you're costing me money, lol. Bought an assortment of ith from JuJu since you make it look do-able. Happy New Year!!
way go friend hugs from pam i love it keep the video coming
If the zipper in the pattern isn’t the size that I like to use, how easy is it to manipulate any pattern to reflect the new zipper size?
You'd need some serious digitizing skills to modify an existing embroidery pattern. It's easier to buy a new zipper. :)
Wow thank you I learned a lot from watching this
Becky, what kind of tape is that that you used? I love your fabric choices for both of the phone carriers.
That's a paper tape made by 3M. You can get one roll of a famous brand company embroidery tape for $4, or 12 rolls of this for $10. I think this is sticker than painter's tape, but not so sticky as to gunk up a needle. It's my favorite. I linked it in the description box.
Its the best for embroidery. I bought a box on Amazon last week (10-100 yard rolls). Not gummy at all & holds tight.
Thank you Becky and Ellen. I ordered some from Amazon.
I bought this file but had no clue where to start! Thank you! I am new to sewing and only have 9” zippers. Can a zipper be cut to the size needed for this project? Thanks in advance. Still need that birth announcement video tutorial!!❤️

Becky, thank you for your information on alphabets. Have cut it all out but yet to sew. love your videos, how do I find your BLOG Please
Hi Ellen, it's powertoolswiththread.com Thank you!
I saw a neat way to use your alphabitties a lady glued each one to a clover clip and now it’s not loose on the fly!
Instead of flannel could you use some sort of interfacing?
Yes you certainly could! I'd use a medium weight interfacing.
Lovely!!
Could you make the strap adjustable????
Hi Becky, I have messed this phone case 2x I hope you helped me figure it out. I think I put fabric before placement stitch and it closed my entire bag shut. Live and learn.
I was wondering if the flap fit your 1H because mine is much smaller than the bag. @powertoolswiththread.

@@PowerToolsWithThread on the print out for size the back, front and batting are all day 7x10 and under that is the flap size is 6x6. I’m doing 1H
I didn’t see info in my pattern for making crossbody straps and loops. Did I miss something? I need to know how long to make the loops.
how do you get the fonts from DBJJ into embrilliance? I have never been able to figure that out.
I made a video for that. :) ruclips.net/video/-erbV3lDTR4/видео.html

Can the quilting part be changed to another quilting pattern?

Yes, certainly if you have one large enough.
Thanks will try fast frame . I made my first in the hoop . Broke a needle on putting on the straps lol
Hi, I bought this pattern, but I can't find the size of the materials anywhere. I would be very grateful if you could help. Regards, Katarina
Is there a place that we can buy the Stiletto?
Is the 1H step 2 the wrong size in the pes file. It came out very small.
What type of medical tape do you use?
3M - amzn.to/3tJmojT
@@PowerToolsWithThread Thank you.
Hey, what are your thoughts about buying a sewing machine overseas such as Singapore?
I highly discourage you from doing this. You run the risk of not only not having any type of warranty, but your odds of down right theft is very high. I wouldn't do it.
@@PowerToolsWithThread Yes, it doesn't feel right and have to go with gut instinct, right? Thanks for your advice!!

How much flannel do I need to purchase
There should be an amount listed in the pattern.
I searched the DBJJ site for this file and I'm not sure if I have the correct one. Would anyone have a link to this file??
The one I used is in the description box.
What type of 3M tape is this and where did you get it
I linked to it below the video and I got it on Amazon. It's the perfect tape for embroidery.
What size hoop did you use? My largest is 5x7
It says 6x10 but I used a 9x14. I don't think you can use a 5x7. :-(
