I'll second the natural stones. Out of the older events, I would actually love to see a Caber toss again. It's a pretty recognizable event since it's so well known from Highland games.
Some of the early events and even up to the late nineties were crazy 😂 you should do the same for Pure Strength! Someone was definitely smoking something when they thought up the log chop 🤣
What I take away from this is that the events need to be relatable in a way that people can clearly see just how heavy they are, but not so relatable that everyone has done it.
Would definately like to see the natural stones come back as the platforms also seemed lower so there wasnt as much of an advantage for taller athletes. Atlas stones gets boring
This. Both opinions. At the Strongman Classic, Rob Kearney walked up to the platforms and showed that the tallest one is about as tall as he is, possibly taller.
Totally agree. And the height thing needs to be addressed-- maybe an adjustable platform set at a certain percentage of each athlete's height? Lord knows I've grabbed things off tall shelves for guys twice my strength but short, same messed up principle.
Who'd want to stand across from Kaz in a wrestling match?! It's what nightmares are made of! I've always been a fan of the bar bend, too. Oh yeah, if I remember correctly there was a guy from my home state who did a 500lb floor press. Just amazing considering there's nothing to really grab, you'd have to balance on an open hand! Amazing feats of strength!
Would be really cool to see a commentary video on current strongman and strongwoman world records. Including max lifts, for reps, timed etc. could turn into a cool mini series!
While I don't think the pole push, tug of war, VS style events work in the group satges or the finals They could definitely do for a dramatic finish as a tie breaker, I think that would be awesome
Wouldn’t it be something if WSM could recreate the 1977 for a one off competition! Who do you think would win out of our current crop of athletes? My immediate thoughts are Oleksii Novikov.
Awesome! The floor press is a really cool idea. I'd like to see the back lift and natural stones make a comeback too. My favourite events include any kind of carry for distance event, any medley event and a plane/train/bus pull event.
think the rom for that would be too advantageous for certain athletes with shorter femurs and it's harder to standardize. bench press just shouldn't be in strongman.
I also would like to see a back squat. Them barrels falling in was epic. I'd also like to see Uncle Loz replace Bill Kazmier as announcer. He's been great, but I'd rather see Loz screaming at everybody.
I think natural stones would be way more interesting than atlas stones. I think the car flip could be made safe with some kind of inertia locking mechanism. Sort of like a giant seatbelt holding it up if it falls. Car flip would be really cool to see at an event
The local-produce-hold certainly was a genre for a while. I'm not a fan of it but I did actually enjoy the touristy elements of WSM in the past. The problem today is that, with so few events in the finals, there is very little space for anything out of the ordinary.
seeing a wrist roll type event today would be super interesting. Would be an interesting change of pace in a competition, but could see it absolutely frying some peoples forearms lol
They should do that instead of a stone off the get into finals. Line up all 10 2-3 place competitors, regardless of group. Then take the top 5 to the finals.
Amazing factual content from our favourite strong couple ☺️. Obviously all belted safety comes first but I’d like to see a “crazy” event now and then just to spice up the competition, thank you both again.
Awesome video, thank you for taking all the time and effort to put it together, you guy's are #1. I like non-static events going from one end to the other, fingal fingers are fun (for us the audience), and plane pull is awesome. I like to see more natural organic strength tests. In the end seeing all that humans can do amazing and entertaining. Cheers.
I would find the following wierdly entertaining, something like the norse hammers, but when they land they hit one of those old school fairground strength testers where you hit the taget with a sledge hammer and the thing goes up and dings a bell, all painted up really colourfully of course. But I also really enjoyed watching the powerstairs when it was lots of stairs and lots of guys head to head with a single object, and the thing with the barrels rolling into the cage for either squats or deadlift was always cool also.
The log floor press is interesting to see back. Also the caimber toss (log toss) As for gravel and shovel (digging event) I think someone on that property needed holes digged 🤣
1:00 I know there was a tire toss in a competition, probably late 90s where two Americans placed 1st and 2nd. I don't know if it was WSM heat stage or something else, my best guess is that it was the 1997 WSM heat "group USA" featuring Chief Iron Bear Collins. I do remember the interview after winning he said something very close to: "You know what they say about us throwers, we start slow, don't build momentum and finish last." They were both way down in the overall points despite getting 1st and 2nd in tire toss. He also said he thought he could throw it further, out past 60ft or something and wanted to try some more throws for fun.
I'd be interested in looking at events that have happened at world and other large events (Arnolds, etc) since I know some of the events that haven't happened at WSM in ages have happened other places (like the Husafell stones). That might be a pain to do, though....
So many of these have been out for to long in world's! Not even the super weird ones. Didn't realize how many of these Shaw been bringing back in his comp too. Or really close at least.
Unrelated but used tacky for the first time today and oh boi went from just being able to load a 110kg stone to a relatively easy one motion. Did not realise how much of a difference it makes.
1990 Anvil lift, or load or which ever of carbon's many oxides. My personal favourite WSM, Joensuu Finland. Pulling 15 tonne stack of wet log across the lake Pyhaselka whilst seated in a boat. The controversy, as mentioned with big O D Wilson getting robbed, superman won his forth WSM title by half a point from 6 points behind in the very last event. The intense rivalry that development between the 2 forementioned. The loading shovel race, boat lift and overhead rock lift are all pretty rare events also. It was a real one off, which had just about everything. Even the mayor of Joensuu came to watch penultimate event at the Joensuu stadium. 6 anvils to be loaded onto 6 platforms. " I told you, I bloody told you"!
I have an idea for a 'Whacky Weights' competition. Can be a light-hearted competition (maybe hold it in a circus Big Top tent?) And all the events are just the wackiest things that are spectacular to watch, but not particularly heavy (for strongmen)
Let us know your favourite events 👇🏼
Not duck walk 😂 and I have that in a novice comp on Sunday
Some of the events in earlier years seed to be a little scary...
I really like farmers walk, specifically when they had torpedo looking ones with handles in the early 2000s, and the log lift.
Flintstone deadlift 💪
Natural Stones, would be fun to see some of the better stonelifters struggle for once
The Murder Ball should be an annual event.
I think WSM should be held in different climates again. It would make things interesting.
I'll second the natural stones. Out of the older events, I would actually love to see a Caber toss again. It's a pretty recognizable event since it's so well known from Highland games.
Some serious research has gone into this video!!
And the stone off is still being used and yet some classic events are yet to return
This might be the best editing you've done yet. Quite enjoyed this narrated style for an extensive list.
I’m starting an official petition to get murder ball in the wsm 2023 final 😂
This is so fun. Some of the older shows had such crazy and dangerous events.
It was more fun then.
Some of the early events and even up to the late nineties were crazy 😂 you should do the same for Pure Strength! Someone was definitely smoking something when they thought up the log chop 🤣
Haha. The log chop and that wild event where they were racing around a castle with something on their back and Kaz almost killed OD Wilson
PURE STRENGTH, PURE STRENGTH, GIVE ME PURE STRENGTH!!!
Log chop was great. Didn't someone have one land on their chest?
Cannot get enough of this channel!! So lucky to have such an awesome Aunti and Uncle!! 😁💪🏼💪🏼
What I take away from this is that the events need to be relatable in a way that people can clearly see just how heavy they are, but not so relatable that everyone has done it.

Tru natty stones won’t be a free Tom first
Totally agree. And the height thing needs to be addressed-- maybe an adjustable platform set at a certain percentage of each athlete's height? Lord knows I've grabbed things off tall shelves for guys twice my strength but short, same messed up principle.
Floor press would be a cool spectacle to see again
I liked the cinder block over the wall for height and the athlete sprint when it didn't go over 😂😂 and the car flip
Nice editing!
Thanks for this. Back lift, Bavarian lift, block press, stone to shoulder are all awesome events. Really, they all are.
Great idea guys .. was this a liz or loz idea?
Quality edit and awesome vid
OMG Loz this video is love
Would be really cool to see a commentary video on current strongman and strongwoman world records. Including max lifts, for reps, timed etc. could turn into a cool mini series!
Great round up, had forgotten a lot of these. Glad to see footage from 1989, was in San Sebastián recently and found most of the event locations.
Some bonkers events back in the day. 🤣 Great video, research and editing on point.
Some truly amazing stuff went down in the 80's 🤣
While I don't think the pole push, tug of war, VS style events work in the group satges or the finals
They could definitely do for a dramatic finish as a tie breaker, I think that would be awesome
They should bring back the Bavarian lift that looks so cool!
Great video Liz! 👏🏼
I love you guys 💖💖💖
Wouldn’t it be something if WSM could recreate the 1977 for a one off competition! Who do you think would win out of our current crop of athletes? My immediate thoughts are Oleksii Novikov.
Probably, it was all about speed pretty much. Though I’d say Kevin Faires has a shot just bc of that
I think Rock Press is the most beautiful. Thank you for the video as always!
Mega effort on that edit Lizzy, cheers!
Thanks! 😊
This was brilliant!
Great idea for a video Loz & Liz! Loved watching this
Natural stones, Flintstone lift, Back lift, and plane pull.
The World's Strongest Man started in the year that I was born, 1977! I've been a fan since the early 90's.
The video I didn't know I needed but am now so happy I got 😂
Flipping the cars over on the beach was my absolute favorite.
There was lots of other wonderful events that made for great spectacle though.
nice edit on the Norse Hammer. cool to see all the events, we need more new funky stuff
"The most beautiful of all lifts" - uncle loz 🤣🤣
I love a good Carry & Drag. Great video!!!!!!!!
I wanna see Iron Biby take on the block press record
The work put in this video is amazing, thanks guys for posting it !
Fav. Event : any overhead medley
Thanks for watching
Waiter at Italian restaurant: "would you like some cheese on your deadlift Senore?"
Anything involving natural stones honestly. That's my favorite thing to watch.
Great effort and research went into the video but man the tempo is faaar too quick haha feeling stressed trying to keep up
I also would like to see a back squat. Them barrels falling in was epic. I'd also like to see Uncle Loz replace Bill Kazmier as announcer. He's been great, but I'd rather see Loz screaming at everybody.
Train pull, max circus dumbell, block press and the log are my all time favourite event's
I don't know how I missed this vid. Loz, you did a great job putting this together and narrating it. Excellent as always!
Thank you buddy. RUclips has been strange recently. A lot of people have said they haven't seen our stuff showing up. Glad you enjoyed the video
The gravel shovel event giving labourers everywhere PTSD , awful event 😂. Great video! Thanks guys
Kaz always said that the events were designed so that they were more suited to Geoff Capes. 🙏
I think natural stones would be way more interesting than atlas stones. I think the car flip could be made safe with some kind of inertia locking mechanism. Sort of like a giant seatbelt holding it up if it falls. Car flip would be really cool to see at an event
awesome compilation of WSM events!!!
It never ceases to amaze me how they did the bar bend 7 times before realizing it was a stupid idea.
Of course Auntie Liz loves the sausage hold! Loved this type of historical/informational video. Watched it twice
Glad you enjoyed it
The local-produce-hold certainly was a genre for a while. I'm not a fan of it but I did actually enjoy the touristy elements of WSM in the past. The problem today is that, with so few events in the finals, there is very little space for anything out of the ordinary.

Amazing factual content from our favourite strong couple ☺️. Obviously all belted safety comes first but I’d like to see a “crazy” event now and then just to spice up the competition, thank you both again.
Favourite is definitely log for reps.
Worst is block press, that is even worse than duck walk. You hear that Loz!
It's nice to see that the competition has improved greatly since the early 2000's. Some of the early events were just absured.
Great video!
The editing skills for this video 😲👍
Do every event at ASC!
Cheers.
Nothing like the old school events. I've said it before, they should copy the old shows events for event. Just up the weights.
This was such a great episode.
Wrestling needs to be brought back
I’d love to see the events of the giants live shows.
We need a world's strongest man museum with most of these on display!
I like the car fip
I would find the following wierdly entertaining, something like the norse hammers, but when they land they hit one of those old school fairground strength testers where you hit the taget with a sledge hammer and the thing goes up and dings a bell, all painted up really colourfully of course.
But I also really enjoyed watching the powerstairs when it was lots of stairs and lots of guys head to head with a single object, and the thing with the barrels rolling into the cage for either squats or deadlift was always cool also.
Car flip looks like it would have been a great event shame its not exactly safe
Great video Loz and Liz. You guys have the best strongman content! Keep up the great work!
Thanks so much!
This video could be way longer with explanations and I will still watch it.
Oh lord, this must have been soo much work to put together!!
I want another throw for distance event.
Loved this video!!!!
Barrel load squat is my favorite to watch
The log floor press is interesting to see back. Also the caimber toss (log toss)
As for gravel and shovel (digging event) I think someone on that property needed holes digged 🤣
A strongman tractor pull ! Only it’s the sled they use for tractor pulls.
1:00 I know there was a tire toss in a competition, probably late 90s where two Americans placed 1st and 2nd. Did I dream it or didn't they do a telephone directory tear once 🤔
I used to love the Husefel stone carry.
Very cool!
I bet it took some time to count all the events 👍
I agree with the duck walk being the worst event ever. It’s not fun to do or to watch 😂
I'd be interested in looking at events that have happened at world and other large events (Arnolds, etc) since I know some of the events that haven't happened at WSM in ages have happened other places (like the Husafell stones). That might be a pain to do, though....

SAUSAGE HOLD!!! Followed by Cheese lift
It would be so much fun if they ditched the heats and just had top 20 compete in 10-12 different events
How do these cross over to other Strong Man Comps like the Arnold and Rouge. ?
Circus barbell was last seen in 2019, not 2016. Pic of Mateusz is from Bradenton
Floor press again 💪💪
I have an idea for a 'Whacky Weights' competition.
Can be a light-hearted competition (maybe hold it in a circus Big Top tent?)
And all the events are just the wackiest things that are spectacular to watch, but not particularly heavy (for strongmen)
I swear we have seen an overhead medley more recently than 2014
OD was robbed! Bring back all the weird overhead ones
I think WSM should throw an absolute curveball to all the athletes and fans and do the entire comp with only the odd events we don’t see anymore
