Yup, I’m with Philth-E, sold! Ordering mine now. Thank you for the review! Good job!
Thanks for the video, I have had mine for 8 months now and no problems. I love it.
Just bought mine. Your review was what finally sold me. Thanks!
Lol. Thank you. Its pretty good safe for what u pay ! Definitely great upgrade from just gun case
@@IvanRossS I wonder if they watched your review at the factory and took care of the issues you mentioned. Mine has no door wobble, handle wobble, or excessive door gap.
You killed me with the dolly bit! Awesome!
Lmao I just finished the video and now I understand what you meant by this comment 😭😆😆😆😆
Yeah they can dolly it away or carry it between 3 rats. Guess what? I got 2 apple airtags in there. Grab the popcorn and sit back on tv while the cops go pursuit them and you're on the phone with 911 dispatch giving them real time street updates 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I bought one of these a few months ago. I have to say for the money, it has been a good little safe so far. No way it holds 16 long guns unless none have optics but hey, every safe company exaggerates. For everyone that worries about locks getting picked, handles being busted off, etc., most low-lifes that break in are looking for easy stuff to grab and seldom stick around to break into a safe. I have a home security system so if they break in, they won't be in for long. I made an additional safe and now need to get some felt to cover it. All in all, this is a decent small safe for what it costs.
Great video. I bought the same safe. I'm going to tighten up the locking mechanism like you did. I really enjoyed the video you did a great job at describing everything and your install was great too. Thank you very much.👍🙂🇺🇲
This is an awesome and informative video i was struggling on making up my mind on buying my first Safe and i appreciate you for this 🙌🏽
Great video. I’m gonna buy it tomorrow from Sportsman Warehouse. Thanks 🙏🏾
Awesome video brother! Answered my question and some. Thank you
Yea thanks, picking one up . Appreciate it
Awesome video! Love the LEDs you added! Do you happen to know the safe's interior dimensions? Want to make sure my long rifle will fit. Thank you!
Love the ending
Thanks! This was the best gun safe review I have seen, and I have watched dozens. I am in the market for a sub-$500 safe, but I don't want or need a behemoth that is too difficult to move around. I really like the size and weight of this one, but unfortunately it has gone way up in price and is right at my limit now. I'll probably go with the bigger 20 gun Winchester for $150 less, which comes with a bunch of shelving too.
Great video 🤙🏽
Awesome job!!
Sold, they have on nearby me in stock and im in the market! Good video.
Awesome. Go get it. I still like mine. Just now I feel like it's small lol. My gun collection is growing :)
Bought mine two days ago and I love the thing. I might have lucked out but mine has zero door wiggle and the handle has no where near the amount of slop as seen in the video. I also ordered and installed the same light set up as shown and it looks/functions perfectly.
Great review
I just got this safe today. I left the bottom legs on as well for height. My door handle was not loose nor was the door itself that he was moving around so that's good on my end. I love it it's the first safe that I've gotten. I set up my own code and I'm all set. Actually probably would be nice to get another Shelf, I might do that in the future but I can fit everything I own in there just fine with the one Shelf.
How much did you pay (if you don't mind me asking)? Where at? Thank you.
@@StevenMelikean Sportsman Warebouse. 353.
@@glanemann Thank you.
@@StevenMelikean I just bought one for $250 with their credit card
@@tiennguyen-mf6zz I just bought mine too. Love it and got it on sale, coupled with a discount credit for about $213.
The end was great
Head a great fun
Awesome review. Bought one last week at Sportsman’s. I made a base out of 4x4’s and some scrap plywood I had. Rattle canned it black and it looks pretty good. Added about 5” of height as I’m also pretty tall and wanted it a bit higher off the ground.
QUESTION: Where did you find the material for your extra shelf?
Sorry, Just saw your comment below about the felt from Walmart or fabric store. Thanks,
You should do the lighting tutorial or just a quick run down step by step how you wired the lighting.
Here is the video for that. I did exactly the same thing and followed this guy tutorial:
ruclips.net/video/XTgzBeRYwsQ/видео.html
That was an amazing review thank you very much!! I just purchased one yesterday so now I know for sure it’s a good one. Picked it up for $299.99
You're welcome . I'm pretty impressed with this safe, the only thing you have to understand that safe like this will not keep away from professionals because they're going to quickly open safe for $3,000 anyway. but it's still great protection for low price. As low as gun metal case that basically have zero protection.
Really good video definitely will subscribe to you.
Also I just bought the safe they are back in stock on the sportsman’s website. Will be available for pickup on August 5th.
Good clean review! Do you know if the door handle has a shear pin? If you hit the handle with a sledgehammer or put a pipe on the handle for leverage will it break the lock pin you showed?
That's not going to work, you just going to brake handle. That pin will not go anywhere
Is anyone else having the problem where it opens very easily, but when you go to re-engage the lock, it gives you a lot of resistance. It still locks, but it takes some effort.
What motion LEDs did you mount in the safe? Are they battery powered or electric? Thanks, great video--I was debating about this compact safe and the Liberty 12 gun safe and with your review I feel the vital impact safe will be they better deal.
It's a battery operated. Motion sensor basically just closed or open circuit between LED and battery pack. All links in the description
Will you be able to do a video on how you installed your lights? I am going to try installing myself.
Watch this video this is exactly how I did it.
ruclips.net/video/XTgzBeRYwsQ/видео.html
The only thing I did differently. I bought a battery pack, it holds 8 AA batteries to provide Power. I replace my batteries about every 3 to 4 months
All link in the description !!!
Lmao that was awesome. Phenomenal review. Very thorough. Btw, where did you get the shelf and led lights from?
Please read description. LED came from Amazon. Shelf I made it myself. Cut up some plywood, Glued fabric (its call felt) Walmart and any fabric store sell this stuff, they come in a different colors, I had trouble to match color , so it's not perfect
@@IvanRossS So for the extra shelf did it come with some extra clips for the shelf rail? or did you have to order some from somewhere?
thank you for this review, it was by far the best product review i have ever seen. i hope they give you a free safe or something for it. i'm buying it tomorrow. Any chance did you do a video of you tightening the hard behind the door. i would like to know what you bought so i can do the same, and what you torqued everything to. i would like to order the same light set up as well if you don't mind. thanks again
Please read description
Did your safe have a very strong smell (almost like chemicals or maybe the carpeting) when you opened it for the first time? If so, were you able to get it out? Would love to hear what you did!
Mine had that order. I left the door open for a few days to air out. Smell gone
Just got mines and now it’s stuck open the two black bolt locks won’t go back in.
Did you have to drill the holes in the back in order to anchor it to the wall?
Yes. I forgot to add it to the video.. it drills right through very easy, just make sure you grab a big washer. I drilled two holes and mount to the stud inside of the wall, one the top and on the bottom. And that will be enough.
Does the safe come with any type of warranty?
Great review. Can you replace the keypad if it should break?
I'm sure u can retrofit something. It's typical key pad that every budget safe have.
Thanks that's what I was hoping to hear!
I've seen videos where they explain a pro won't even try to go through the door but will cut the sides and peel it open like a sardine can . Best thing to do is place it where they can't get to the sides or top and mount it solid to the floor and/or wall so they can't move it . I like that you spotted yours in a closet . Probably in a bedroom . Put a good lock on the bedroom door and on the closet if possible. Won't keep them out but will for sure slow them down and increase the noise they will have to make. Hopefully a neighbor heard or saw something and dropped a dime to 911. You did what I would have done and tinkered with it and made it better . Really nice set-up !
The typical smash & grab thieves won't have that kind of equipment or knowledge. Anyone who does, is going there specifically for your guns, because they know what you have. And those high end criminals will typically go for bigger prizes than your average gun owner.
Unless a "pro" knows you have high dollar guns, you will seldom have such a person break into your house.
I think all safes are a little lose on the inside, so everything moves smoothly
To be honest...this safe, mounted to the floor is probably the absolute best buy you can find for the build quality and security specs it has
I commend you for replying to all the comments lol I think I lost brain cells reading all of them
So this is kinda random but on the side theres are like 5 slots thats with some stretchy material which kinda looks like some molle pouches could fit but what specific item is it for?
@Jedi Master Thank you, I seen it before on other safes but is there an attachment to the elastic or you just put the magazines/shells through the elastic?
I am wondering if, due to the position of the electronic mechanism, this is vulnerable to a high powered magnet exploit.
You cannot pull the pin without unlocking it first. so magnet will not work
@@IvanRossS Good to know. I actually ordered one after watching your review. Thanks for posting it it's the only good one on youtube for this safe.
How did you remove the door panel to tighten the screws?
They are little black covers over each screw around the door, just pop them off with a flat screwdriver and you will get access to screws, very simple.
Did you put a board on the bottom of the safe? If so, what size and how thick? I will be putting mine 2nd floor where it has carpet
No board lol.... I even showed in the video that I'm cutting bottom peace to make it smaller. That was metal bar that came with a safe just for a transportation purpose. But I reuse it to make it higher for me. And safe seats on tiles. Mounted on the wall
Where did the LED motion sensor light sir?
Amazon
may i ask where did you buy the extra shelf? thank you....
Didn't i said in the video that I made it my self. Also read comments. Im talking all about it.
I see you fixed the handle wiggle play but do you have a solution for the door wiggle when unit is closed?
Any ideas how to fix this prob???
Hey sorry I just now seen you message. I didn't fix this problem, I don't really care about it but you can simply fix it with installing a little rubber door stopper, that u have on your kitchen doors. Just place then in each corner. Simple ruber seal for the windows that you can buy at any hardware store will fix the issue too. Ruber one or the one that have texture of memory foam will work. In case of fire the original seal will swell from heat right over new seal that u added, but finger cross 🤞
@@IvanRossS went with the rubber window seal and works great. very little play and no clunk sound!
I might get this if it stays in stock. My only real worry is how easily could you lock pick the skeleton key. Now maybe I've been watching too much Lockpickinglayer, but if there is one thing I have learned is that no lock is unpickable, at least to my knowledge. The best thing you can have is something that either takes a lot of time, or is too much of a hassle for someone to want to waste their time to get into something without alerting, or being caught by someone. I'm I know you likely won't know, but any idea how secure those locks are? I suppose since it is hidden behind the actual key pad it will be harder to get into, but at the same time a pro crook will likely check there. Just picking your brain a bit to see what you think.
I was told by locksmith a long time ago, any lock can be unlocked and no door can stop you from barking in. whoever will try get into your house/safe will not going to be smart enough to pick a locks. because he will be smart enough NOT to break into your house, make money their own, like having the jobs, education and stuff like that. Safe like this will not be lock picked, they just simply break into, by cutting the hole on the side or busting whole door out. I wouldn't worry about it !. Any skeleton keys will be hard to pick. I would recommended you to secure your house!!. Like getting better locks. Reinforcing door, with longer bolts and plates, getting cameras. Spotlights around your house. I have all that !!! Inverst money in that, not into $2000 safe that will have %20 better security features. make sure you leave your lights on when you leave your house keep your windows close. Look into getting security company like ADT
@@IvanRossS Good point. It will probably be a while till my own house, but I guess one good thing about renting an apartment is if someone tries cutting into a safe with an angle grinder your neighbors are probably going to notice.
@@killgora1 definitely but u still can reinforce your doors. Install ring camera etc. I did that with all my apt I used to rent. I even change locks !!!! Dont care about owner or maintenance! Fuck them. I'm renting it. So I'm temporary owning it. What they gonna do with me ? Kik me out ? NO ! I can NOT do whatever but security is your safety!. Change locks, safe old ones . Screw in longer screws into hinges and lock latch so they can penetrate into studs. It's going to be much harder to kick in the door. Install Ring type camera or one inside of your apt that motion activated and you good to go. All this not gonna break your bank. You move and you just take all that with you. Believe me I know. In pass 11 year leaving in USA, I moved 8 times !!! I'm finally homeowner and now I can do whatever hehe ;)
Almost all these safes have a skeleton key. These are made to stop the common tweeker burglar and stop kids from getting to your guns. They won't stop a pro
@@bigmacfullerton7870 Most safes won't stop pros. Not to mention cordless angle grinders exist. Better than leaving them in a wood and glass cabinet that's for sure.
Anyone know if it's possible to replace the electronic keypad with something more robust, like an S&G?
I'm pretty sure you can .Its very simple lock mechanism. . It's just sending signal to open and close shaft
Where is the backup keys hidden in the safe , I just unbox mine and can’t find the backup key and how can I install battery in it
My keys wasn't hidden
Would you happen to know if the 10 gun safe from vital is same as this one??
Not worth it... 16 gun safe only $30 more !! U have more space and pouch on the door. For extra $30!!. Looks like same lock system tho
@@IvanRossS Thanks. Saw your LED review on Amazon too. Nice work.
Mine did not come with the hole in the back. Did you drill it yourself?
Yes I did 😆
Sportsman is out of stock and I can't find this safe anywhere else. Can't even find a manufacturer. Any idea who makes it?
You should be able to order online and they will ship to the store for you to pick up later for free.
@mrblazito they back in stock !! $300
Vital-Impact is a Sportsmans brand.
where did you get the extra shelf?
Made it my self lol
how did you remove the covering over the bolts and lock?
Over the bolts you just have black little plastic cover, you pop that plastic cover and remove bolt which is actually screw.
@@IvanRossS Great job!! I just used your links. they should give you a cut on sales at Amazon. :)
Where do you get the tools to secure it to the wall?
What do you mean where I'm getting tools?? Lowe's hardware, Home Depot? This is just a basic tool ! I use a stud finder to find a stud in the wall, I drilled the hole through the safe with a metal drill bit. I used screw and washer to secure this safe to the wall. Also prior to that I had to remove trim so the back of safe wall seats flash with a drywall
@@IvanRossS im curious about the screw you used. Is it just a normal screw? Or is it a bolt kit. Sorry but im doing the same thing at my house and want to be sure i use the right thing.
@@MRDAD-oy1pc I used just regular screw, nothing special. I think its call "pan head type" about 3 inch long. Only use 2, one the top and on the bottom. That's all. You still can ripped it out but it is going to be very very hard to do with all that weight of guns and ammo u gonna have in your safe.
@@IvanRossS Hey thanks. I cant get rid of the trim on the ground because im in an apt complex. Do you think itll be okay with that gap?
@@IvanRossS I see. So u only screwed it into 1 stud in your closet?
I just bought one. I have my keys and the default code works. But there was no instruction manual to explain how to set a different code. What are the steps?
1. After opening the electronic safe (with the preset factory code of 1 - 5 - 9 - #) locate the small red button on the inside of the door near the hinge. 2. Press the red button and then release it, you will hear a beep. The yellow light on the faceplate will be activated and will stay on for a period of time that should allow you to enter your code. You can only enter your code while the yellow light is on. With the door open and the yellow light on, enter your own personal security code, which can be 3-8 digits long, and confirm your new code by pressing the "*" symbol on the electronic touchpad. Before you close the door, try the new security code to make sure the lock releases the handle so you can turn it and retract the live-action bolts. DO NOT SHUT THE DOOR UNTIL YOU HAVE CONFIRMED THAT YOUR NEW SECURITY CODE HAS BEEN ENTERED CORRECTLY. If the code fails, go through steps 1 and 2 again. If the code works successfully record your combination number on the front of this form or store your combination on our secure website at Stack-On's website under Customer Service. If you write down your combination you must keep this information in a secure place, away from children, not inside the safe. Then you should close and lock the safe.
Turning the keypad sound on and off:
You can turn OFF the "beep" sound of the keypad by entering the code *633
To turn it back ON use code *66
Loved the video, have a couple of questions. I cannot find any information on this safe o n the internet, specifically, an operators manual. I have misplaced mine. I wanted to move my safe, realized I couldn't find the combo, used the key to get in but can change the combo because I don't have the steps. Can you point me in the right direction to get an operations manual. I've tried but get lots of yellow lights, no green lights, even when I hit the reset button. Thank you for any help you can provide.
1. Press the "reset" button, the lock will beep twice and the yellow LED turns on (The "reset" button is lo- cated on the back of the cover or the side of the frame (hinge side) of the door or inside the lower back cover of the door. Reset button is a red or green colored button.)
2. Enter the new digit code (1-8 digits), then press * button.
3. Test lock operation several times before closing the door by entering your new combination and then the # symbol. The green LED will verify that the safe is unlocked.
Thank you for your quick response. It worked!
Nice review man.
1. How did you get the same carpet for the 2nd safe?
2. Is this safe on a 2nd floor? If not, do you think it would be ok on the 2nd floor?
Why would it be a problem been on the second floor?? And cover for second shelf call "felt" you can buy it at any fabric store even at Walmart. Get you 1 yard of it. They come in different colors so I recommend to grab a shelf with you when you go just so you can match gray color.

That door can be easily pried open with a crow bar. Don't be fooled by a false sense of security. No $350 safe is full proof. The expensive ones can be broken into by people who know what they are doing so the cheap ones are even easier. That gap on the door is way too big. There is a video on RUclips where it takes two guys with crowbars one minute and forty two seconds to pry open the door of a $1500 safe. This one could be done by one guy.
But safe is on the floor and he uses 4 foot long pry bar... seen it, its all BS. Every safe can be broken in to, point blank. This is way better then gun cabinet.
@@IvanRossS I agree this is better than a gun cabinet and for the price it is a pretty good deal. But let's be real, it's not Fort Knox. If someone who knows what they are doing comes to open that safe they will have little problem doing so. This is to stop the average dipshit tweeker smash and grab burglar and to keep guns away from kids. It will do those things nicely. It will not stop someone who knows what thy are doing and comes with the proper tools. Most more expensive models won't either. That is why I am actually shopping for one of these. I may go with the Sports Afield 18 gun from Sam's Club. I can't find this one in stock where they will ship to me.
People will go to your house with a jack lift if they know you have a lot of money or expensive guns in your safe
I don't think so I ever heard safe was stolen with a jack lift from someone's house... its easier to brake into it while your gone for sure!
How are you going to make your gun safe 1000lbs from 220lbs?? Your 10 guns weighs 800lbs? 😂 I know it’s over exaggeration.. but still dude said 1000lbs after your guns in there!! Lol 800 pounds for 10 guns and some ammo?? But I understand what you mean. I just bought one. I plan on putting the shelve at the bottom so so my rifles are in top and I have the entire bottom of the safe plus half way up the entire safe to stock ammo. This will make it as heavy as possible and I don’t have to worry about the weight of ammo breaking the shelves. 🤷♂️
First of all I was saying approximately... secondary. I keep all my ammo in there and it's fucking heavy....
Don't buy it it's a peice of crap and the Chinese made digital lock will malfunction in 6 months or less.
I have no problems with it !! Haven't even replaced lock battery !
The Sports Afield one from Sam's Club has a lifetime warranty and lifetime locksmith if you get locked out. It's about the same thing minus the reinforced steel around the lock. Honestly I don't think that is how one would go to get into a safe like this. They would probably just try to pry the door or cut right through the side or top.
Can you buy extra keys? I dont find my keys anymore.
Of course not.
