Perhaps, but after playing a lot of PC games recently, I start to see how dated they really look, particularly when it comes to distant objects. Not enough anisotropic filtering.
Just because they never specified whether or not the tech demo was Wind Waker, doesn't mean it isn't. It could've been a scrapped game that led to it, or just wind waker in an early form
sooo.. am I the only one that thinks that zelda thing they showed off at spaceworld was NOT some "announcement" or whatever for the wind waker, but a tech demo to show off what the gamecube was capable of?
Wind Waker is no doubt my favorite game of all time. The Music is beautiful, the art style is amazing looking, the world is so big and fun to explore, the partners were all fun to work with, Makar was adorable, the story was breathtaking, and overall I just had the best experience with the game. Tetra was my favorite character, she had a pretty deep story and was very important to the game itself. If you have not played this game yet, go do so, it'll be worth your time.
The unused E3 Wind Waker theme has actually been used as the main theme for The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds' main theme. Neat little fact. However, the theme has been slightly changed, but you can tell if you compare them.
It's also one of the first musical pieces heard other than the triforce coming together when you start up A Link to the Past. I wouldn't put it to one game, I'd consider it a universal Zelda jingle.
I'm gonna say this outright and say that Wind Waker is the best LoZ game. Sure OoT was fantastic and TLttP was just as fantastic, but neither game feels timeless like Wind Waker, and this game has that EPIC feel to it. Like Shadow of the Colossus or Ico levels of EPIC. But in a cute art style that's taking forever to age.
Michael Ogunlade Yeah, that Link is badass. Though I take back my The Link to the Past comment. It is tied with Wind Waker as best Zelda game, at least in my head.
@@odinangie1377 No. "Depending on how you look at it. Either way could work". That's now how that works. It either is wind waker or it isn't. And it isn't. It was them showing off the hardware with the most badass scene they could come up with.

It makes me feel weird so weird to see my favorite game picked apart to show all its textures and inner workings. There's so much heart in this game it kind of hurts.

Dude, that demo shown before the announcement of Wind Waker was NEVER meant to be an actual game, it's just a cutscene meant to show off the capabilities of the system, just like the one they did for the Wii U.
The fact that there's an unused room that better matches the style used in that demo than Wind Waker itself suggests that even if it wasn't an actual game, they did at least think about making the game in that style before going more cartoony for the final product.
3:02 I remember watching this when I was... 9 or 10, and being terrified of this and wanting to sleep in my parents room that night? I have no idea why I was so afraid of it at the time. It’s hilarious now.
I've actually seen the swimming animation on the GC version, when I got stuck under a giant flower in Forest Haven and everything got clipped out except for Link.
Nowadays, all Zelda fans cares about are graphics. I keep hearing "Twilight princess is the best zelda game ever because it's dark and realistic" or "Zelda MM is the best zelda game ever because it's dark and realistic". Zelda fans also complain that the new Hyrule Warriors game graphics look lame. Since when the hell has Zelda been just about graphics?
***** Nowadays, kids grow up on cod games, which I find depressing seeing that most of the people I find on FPS games are in my generation. Either that or they're four years old!
People say that about Majora's Mask because of its dark story and many of the characters in the game having schedules. Has absolutely nothing to do with the graphics.
You should have talked more about the room at 9:30. It was referred to as the "Pig Dungeon" when it was first discovered. The subject of focus was the ominous yellow carving that might be a door. The scene appeared to be a crucified Christ in a graveyard. Very eerie. Maybe it was meant to depict the hero of time. That, together with the figurine carvings on the walls just goes to show how dark the original game was willing to go.
I love Wind Waker but I'd seriously love the tech demo to be a game too. It looks really cool and if they had made a story for it already then I really would've loved it to be real.

It's for development purposes. They can put in different textures later on, that sort of stuff is usually just to make sure the textures don't conflict with each other, etc.
ya know what ive always wondered since i was a little kid? Why do the developers keep those unused rooms, textures, sounds, and ECT if they are never going to be used for any actual gameplay purpose. my theory is that these rooms and everything were kept for technical reasons. This theory comes from me removing unused content from other games that i do infact own. When i removed some of the content the game that i removed the content from started to act strangly, these ways include : random crashed, ear piercing sound glitched, and texture glitches. This could be the reason why some games were VERY short during their times but i have no proof that the unused content was the reason. The only reason why i even think of such is because the content took up a significant amount of space on the games disc. Now back to my original question, why would they leave all this content in file if it is never to be used? I mean if you really know what you are doing you can infact make these rooms appear when going through a door or ect but otherwise there is nothing to do in those rooms unless there are some old scripts that were originally going to be used in the particular room itself. This is one of the main reasons i personally want to become a game designer so i can get all of these questions answered for games i would be a part of.
8:00 i tink that test room was a early version of the fire volcano but the water actually uses the texture of the poisonous water from majora's mask. Which could mean that it was originaly a fire dungeon but rather a water dungeon wehe u could find the water boots
One of the rooms shown has a bunch of golden zunari statues with what looks like the attachment for placing flowers on windfall. These were probably used as the final step in the Goron trading quest. Pretty cool to imagine windfall being covered in golden zunari statues
Is it just me? Or did Wind Waker GC have really good graphics for its time? Look at dem shaders.

og windwaker was obviously twilight princess
thinking about it they probably had two teams working separately. probably both made good engines but one seemed a bit over done an probably laggy.
ya know what ive always wondered since i was a little kid? This is one of the main reasons i personally want to become a game designer so i can get all of these questions answered for games i would be a part of.
if you have the space on the disk why bother removing them? thats pretty much the only reason they are kept in.
thebritishgeek to have more room for maybe some better content such as sound or graphics
***** true true but dont they already do that one the computers that they made the games on?
***** that makes alot of snese now that someone says it
Kenny mcormic Also, sometimes they are used for loading screens, like in Half-Life
8:00 i tink that test room was a early version of the fire volcano but the water actually uses the texture of the poisonous water from majora's mask.
Toon Link is better than plain Link
