- When Ford released the Raptor back in 2010, it was in a class of its own. There was nothing like it, and to this day (the TRX isn’t out yet), holds the crown for the ultimate production off road pickup. And that’s because Ford went about building and testing this prehistoric 4 wheeler in one of the toughest terrains in the world. The Baja 1000 is one of the most extreme off-road races on the planet, pushing your machine to it’s limit. So how is the Raptor capable of tackling such extreme terrain with limited modifications? And why does Ford let you buy one of these? And why do they give you a full factory warranty as well!? Today we are going to look at both versions of Baja tested Raptor - the SVT Raptor R, and the Ford Raptor Race truck!

I talked myself out of a Raptor when I bought an F150 in 2014, didn't repeat that mistake last year. It feels like a completely different truck and I'm loving my Raptor so far.

Raptor: 30 Hours at 100mph in the desert, under warranty works like brand new.
TRX: : Let's race at street lights to see who's truck is better.
Ram did test there truck in California dessert at 118mph.
Umm.. 2016 was roughly 850 miles, it took them 36hours giving an average speed of 24 mph (probably did some repairs on the road, being a factory team, they probably had a good amount of resources not available to smaller teams)... they posted the slowest time of all finishers (slower than the Baja Bugs) and twice as long as the big boys (the unlimited trophy trucks).

At 147k miles on my Raptor, I can confirm that they're reliable. Eats up everything I can throw at it off road, sounds amazing, ride is supple/smooth/controlled, and looks nice and beefy. I love it!

Granted, Johnson is a mixed bag for wheeling, there are parts where a Subie would have a blast and there are other parts of it where Ultra 4s will get hung up and need to winch themselves out every so often. It's a blast if you've never been out there before.

It is TRX short for T-Rex which is bigger and badder than a raptor, which is why they named their truck that and why they have a raptor Easter egg on the truck as well. The more videos I watch of Jeremiah, explaining different engine internals. The more it makes me realize, how ineffecient and complex they are. It's actually surprising that engine run and can go as many as 300,000+ miles.

Yeah, wanted to buy a Fox fork for my crosscountry mountain bike. 1500 to 2500 for a front suspension 100mm travel. Also that Kashima (bronze) coating requires more care than a woman requires moisturizing cream. If you scrape the Kashima your fork is forked. I'm wondering how much does suspension change cost on this car.

I’ve been trying to find out for a long time know.
Why would you guys keep saying the current ford gt won le mans on donut media? In the GTE category and only in 2016, it keeps getting hammered ever since. That's a 20th place or so as a best result. You do mention the raptor being in a certain Baja category and place it on that scale.... Ford never won Le Mans since the 60s. Their results are far from being outstanding given that there are only 3 or 4 GTE constructors in that category and that they are far from giving good results. Stop tooting your american horn regarding Le Mans and Ford. What should Audi say for winnning 13 out of 15 titles between 2000 and 2014.. or porsche with its 19 titles... ferrari, jaguar, bentley, alfa romeo.... ford won 4 titles straight in the 60s and never won again. They did it just after ferrari won 6 straight. Porsche won 7 straight... Audi won 8 straight. Ford is not special.

I cant be the only one that has noticed the cylinder head arrangement in the animation at 7:15 is shit, the left bank is exactly opposite of how it should be, I think someone got lazy with the animations and did a bit of copy and paste work,

I’m 100% confident a Stock and Straight out the dealer Raptor CAN’T survive a Baja race at the speed and level they drive at.
However, at low speed it can.
The mods they mentioned seems to suggest a stock raptor can handle and survive it pretty well since the mods aren't even that much. I can understand that some of them are highly important for why it can survive and function, but i'm sure a stock Raptor could do it better then the rest could in comparison.

The Raptor won't be killed by the TRX, I guarantee you that Ford will have an answer to the TRX, whether it's simply beefing up the 3.5 ecoboost in the Raptor to the GT's power level or more, dropping the GT500's engine in it, or dropping the Godzilla motor in it and bolting a supercharger to it!

The additional port injector also performs an important job of washing carbon deposits off of the intake valve.
Some engines added the port injection back in soley to help combat carbon buildup.

Technically, they did not that amazing... according to the official site, there were only 5 trucks in the category with 2 DNF... yup, that made them 3rd last as well as 3rd. And the category was Stock Full, so all trucks were stock as you would buy from the dealer (with minor modifications for race safety). They were also 3.5 hours slower than 2nd place (that's about 10%). OH and they came in behind a Hummer and a Toyota in front of a stock Dodge and another stock Ford. Oh and it was the overall slowest time of all participants, twice as long as the fastest truck (trophy truck). All in all, not that impressive.

Prefer Supercharger (Whipple/ Roush), because at 38,000 miles i had Turbine Lockup within the Turbos at 82°+. This is caused by Thermo Variations consider locations of Turbos Ford mounts them below for lower center of gravity. Problem is they're right next to the very hot engine. Ricers know this and mount them up high close to heat extraction hood vents. To keep them cooler, and not for show. Now the Turbo Shell expands like a donut 🍩, while it's being baked the outside expansion is outwards vs. Inside expansion is inward the hole gets smaller. The Blades expansion is outward to be larger to hit the Shell. Locking up the Turbine Blades, and then add the Backflow from the Intake and Downpipe to it to spool the the Turbos more.
My fuel mileage went from
32 mpg to 8-12 mpg. Glad for 2021 it'll have the GT500 engine package 5.0 V8

I love my truck and i'd keep it over the TRX. I love the TRX, but let's see the TRX make it through to the finish line at the Baja 1000 then we can have a better discussion. All that power is dope, but having trophy truck power with regular suspension (2.5 shocks) ain't gonna do you any good.

ya they got insane torque but a gas engine has Horse power why not put both together and have insane numbers
@@wiseone2333 what? Put together what? Because they installed both direct and indirect injection doesn't mean that they combined diesel with gas engines. Diesel engines are more durable on average and can operate efficiently without both direct and indirect injection. You got only direct which does its job fine. Diesel engines don't have complicated ignition system with spark plugs that can fail. Also diesel engines with turbo have a lot better low end boost and A LOT less turbo lag because they got 2x times the compression which a gas engine so the engine pushes the exhaust gases out of the engine with MUCH higher force
