One thing I notice from watching older footage is no matter how early it was for the sport, pro skaters and competitive skaters all have a certain type of speed and style that's been consistent from then until now

This was my very first video I saw. My mum got it for me back in 96'. I remember watching pretty much everyone wipe-out on everything and thinking hmm maybe I chose the wrong sport here. Then shortly after I watched VG4 and Mr Mooseknuckle and was like; ahhh okay.

I'm now 35 years old and i was hardcore into blading back in the mid 90's early 2000's. I was a full on ramp/street skater and i loved it. Call me what you will, but honestly, so much of the skating back then looks so gay. I didn't realise how gay it looked until i looked back on it now. I mean if you look at the blading as it is today, it looks so much cooler and so much more respectable. The moves are better, the blades look cooler, the styles of the skaters are vastly improved... its just a cooler sport now. But unfortunately it has a unshakeable stigma of being gay and uncool and looking at videos like this, i can see how that stigma was created. It is a shame that this stigma remains to this day because it is such a fun sport with such a vast array of tricks and possibilities. I would love to see it return to the x games one day.

I don't think Steeze was invented until the very late 90s / early 2000s. The vert sections probably still hold up today but the street bits look like classic cheese.

As a 40 years old guy i can comfirm this! This was how this sport begun! I am so happy i was a part of it! Rollerblades in this time were not specialized for soul grinds and stuffs. We learned grinds step by step. We did soul plates on own way to do grinds. Hard time but i loved that! Sorry for bad english. Cheers from Hungary.

Haha 90s blading is so amateurish compared to now. New sport though so fair, but it reminds of when you watch like sprinting in the Olympics from 1910 and they run super weird and could barely even beat a high school student from today.
    Great music though.
