I didn’t know she was in dahmer! I started watching that and had to stop. If I had known I would have watched it getting through the hard parts of the movie. She’s done great.
She’s a Renaissance woman. She can do it all: actress, director, singer, writer. And she’s lovely inside and out. Amazing mother who adores her husband and vice versa. Class act.
I wicked admire how true she seems to herself. Also I truly believe she was underrated, stuck in these sweet 16 type roles when in reality she had raw serious TALENT, but yet remained humble and classy with what she got.
I was an 80's teen, so Molly's movies and I know the movies weren't just hers, I loved! The Breakfast Club, may not have had a character that represented black teens, but the storyline was all the same to me. That movie alone with her character and others had an affect on being a teenager, I'll never forget that nor her acting.
I heard that Molly now hates her films from the 1980s and thinks Hughes was a fat old sexist. Her career fizzled out and she's all 'woke' now and looking for attention.
I am 70 and have watched The Breakfast Club at least a 100 Xs if not more. It's on my list of favorite movies. Something about high school is still with me and my year in college, (like in the Big Chill,) I guess I'm still a kid at heart that never grew up. These films, especially several of the ones that Molly Ringwald acted in, just takes me away. She is fantastic! ❤️
I hope, Molly, that you don't beat yourself up too bad for John Hughes films. He captured the reality of the 80's along with our simple need for love & laughter. You are wonderfully a part of that, so be proud. I was a young man then, but Sixteen Candles's last scene to the tune of The Thompson Twins' "If You Were Here" is STILL one magical cinematic touch!
It sucks when actors put a political twist on their film lt is comedy for God's sake and many of us loved her films let it go and don't ruin it for many that still enjoy these gems my 2 cents

Pretty in Pink and Breakfast Club were pivotal. Her work in both of these films were extraordinary. You felt the pain and angst of Claire (Breakfast Club) and Andie Walsh (Pretty in Pink). IMO, these two films captured how hard going through adolescence was, and how much damage cliques in high school can cause. I’m sad to hear that Molly found Breakfast Club cringy. It was an accurate depiction of how things were back then in the 80s. (Now 16 Candles is a whole other topic and it is super cringy to watch now.)
Wow! Molly ringwald still looks lovely even at 54…. I’m 55 and I always had a crush on her since pretty in pink and the breakfast club…. I’m glad to see her happy and healthy … I appreciate what she brings to film…. Always will support her work…. Continued success to Molly ringwald😉🙏🏽💯
Molly Ringwald's epic movies bring so many memories and are a nostalgic representation of my youth. She was a little older but man, I really looked up to her back then. She was and always be an icon!
I wish people would stop apologizing for comedy and humor from the past. You can’t say anything today that doesn’t offend someone. John Hughes was brilliant and his films are classic. His comedy’s are unmatched.
As a natural redhead that’s 10 years younger than her (PROUD GEN X WOMAN HERE💜) she was an icon to me. She did usually get the “weird girl” or “not the popular one” like 😮 Lindsey Lohan was in Mean Girls for the next generation). The difference is, she DID manage to somehow stay grounded, as noted in the video. It was nice to see the “nerd” (oh-she reads??? And sews??😂) get great friends and go through normal teenage situations that were at the time the norm. I love that she states that some of the material did not age well, but people have grown I believe and hope! She was directed and was playing a role. It’s amazing that she managed to do all of this with so much grace and talent. She is absolutely an icon of my generation and a role model to women like me who’ve seen her movies so many times we know the script.
She is an icon. Her classic works from the 80s are a pop snap shot of that time and shouldnt be judged by todays social ideals... they are perfect. Happy shes stil working and enjoying life!
I have had such a crush on Molly my whole life. I did miss her when she was not in the spot light. My joy when I see her has obviously matured over the decades. I like it when we see her again. I was happy for her when she went to Paris. Good to see her happy and expressing her skills and work.
Her work in “Pretty in Pink” was rather extraordinary. It was very wise to leave LA as it would have just become yet another teen star burnout fodder for the media.
Loved her movies! Loved that era. The breakfast club was watched so much by me and then my daughter that loves it as much as me. Pretty in pink, sixteen candles…also the others that came out around that time St. Elmore’s Fire ❤
Only a few hung out together and only a few dated. It was an unfair label because some of them did not even know each other and they were being lumped together. For instance Ringwald and Hall were the only real teenagers in the whole group and they did not really hang around with the raft who were older and doing more grownup things. Ringwald got unfairly thrown into that group and unfortunately never graduated to more grownup roles during that time. I’m glad she is back now and doing more important work.
The films she made reflected a time frame in history, regardless of whether they aged well or not. I loved everyone of those films and if someone doesn’t like it, then don’t watch them. To me, they bring lots of great memories of a time when things were much simpler and we were invincible. Lok😂At least, that’s how we felt.

Her early stage role in Annie wasn’t just some “local” production. The way it is described here it sounds like she got a little part in an amateur community theater production for fun. In reality she was cast to play orphan Kate in the first official 1978 West Coast production of Annie in Los Angeles, the year after the original show opened on Broadway. It was a professional acting job for which she had to compete against many other young performers to land, and for a 10 year old actress it was a pretty big deal.
