This was a super fun few days fishing on the pier with all the local goons. Be sure to watch the end of the video, there are some pretty cool species caught 👀
That King was more likely on you brother. You didn't follow your own advice - you weren't straight with the fish but on an angle. So close! you'll get em' next time.
The first thing I noticed about this reel is its weight ruclips.net/user/postUgkxM68VkfsQhHaabDce1IwOCXuvumcpbZ_k . I wouldn't say it was uncomfortable but it was a little heavier than other similarly sized reels. However, that didn't deter my enjoyment of how smooth this reel is. I spooled it with 20lb. Tuf-Line XP and it's perfect for what I use it for. I have it paired with an 8'6" Medium/Fast Okuma SST Salmon/Steelhead rod. The combination is perfect for casting and even drifting. I used the reel all day and didn't experience any arm or hand fatigue except when fighting a few fish! The bail is solid and feels strong when engaging by reeling and manually closing the bail by hand. The large rubber handle grip is very comfortable. It's got a powerful drag, silky smooth reeling, and feels very comfortable in the hands. I recommend it!
dude your content is too underrated, the quality of this is just mint. You can tell you put effort into these vids man I really love all the content. Keep at it bro and keep them lines tight
Ryan what an awesome video! I wish you could have put that king on the Pier. The content you continue to put out is OUTSTANDING! Stay safe out there brother!
I remember the days not long ago that Sharks wouldn't even eat a Jack. We never used them for bait or had them smoked off the line. Sharks out of control in So Fla and even worse in the Keys where I'm at. The Sargassum weed is super special when you pull a spread of six rigged ballys thru it over and over and over again with a boat full of Googans for like 3 mos straight
@@RyanMorie I have a question first I won a Penn Fierce III 8000 reel in a local drawing in NC I have never owned a spinning reel this large, I don' have much to spend on a rod do you have any suggestions for a good rod to use for surf, pier and offshore fishing?
I grew up about a hour south fishing boynton inlet and lake worth pier back in the 70s and 80s! You are definitely right about the sharks they have gotten out of control especially for surfing!
Hi, good. I have some questions. What is the name of that place? And what is the name of that pier? . is that I want to travel to floria to fish and I don't know where to go. thanks and greetings from the canary islands
I've learned with pier fishing that if the sharks allow letting fish like those take a long first run on light drag and wearing them out before they get close seems to work best just something I've learned fishing lighter tackle
Yo Ryan this is juno Pier yea? I live in delray and need to get on more fish. We should meet up and fish together sometime man! Also.. The sargassum is terrible here... How is it there?
I'm definitely not a saltwater guy but I fish a big hydro dam for stripers. It's vary similar with fishing around other people and knowing what your doing makes a big difference. Then dealing with all the googans who just cast over top of everyone just makes fishing frustrating. So I stopped going on weekends just because of that.
Last weekend lost a 45 to 50lb cobia on a pier in west coast Florida on a damn stradic fk 4000 with 20lb main line with 40lb leader. Wasnt expected a giant hit that rod instead of my gosa 8k. Took me 45 min to get it to the pier came out of the bridge net 3 time cuz it was too big for it so I'm getting a bridge gaff. But on a average cobia runs there about 6 to 8 being caught on a good day while 3 to 4 are a keeper
Ryan i usually fish the pier alot, today is 18 mph west on the pier and i only have a daiwa bg 5000 and a 7'5 rod, is it enough for these jacks to cast far to them?
If y’all think that’s a big cobia y’all need to come to Va and catch a real big cobia cause that’s a baby y’all goin crazy over. We catch 40s almost everyday
why use a van staal for this type of fishing? it seems like a lot of florida folk pier fish with van staals. not hating just seems like it would be better to use smoother reels with nicer drags considering the reel isn’t taking any direct spray or submersion. van staals r geared more for northeast striper rock hopping with their sealing and low gear ratios

So if you got a bite you yell "Jack on"... breaks his line or 🦈, "JACK OFF"!!!

My heart sank when that King spit the lure with that head shake!!!
Savage video!!!
Really enjoying the pier fishing videos as I can relate and probably many others can
Glad you like them!
Thanks Ryan. You're absolutely best at teaching us what we need to do right either with the gears or with the fishing techniques.

Another great video buddy thanks
Love the west Coast fishing videos. Great job and congrats! Capt Andy
Pier fishing like this seems like orchestrated chaos lol. Pretty cool
Sometimes it’s just straight chaos 🤣
Sick bro , love catching Jack from the pier. They put a huge fight
Great content as always my dude. Easily one of the best channels I follow. Would love to have you come up to the panhandle to king fish this summer
Beers w Ryan !!! Woooo 🤣🤣🤙
Awesome dude. Really dig the "beers with ryan" segment Lol
Haha glad you like it! I try and make my vids a little different from the typical YT fishing vid if possible
Nonstop action. Great video Ryan!
Ive never screamed so much at my computer b4. especially that king at the end... ahhhhhhhhhhhh

Definitely a nice day in the water despite the wind conditions.

the amount of van staals on the pier is crazy lmao

Hey Ryan, love the videos man. Just curious, why do you fish with a Van staal from the pier?
Personal preference. I like bailess reels for sight casting fish, although they definitely aren’t the best choice when fishing into 30-40 mph winds 🤣
You should try socal surface irons
Hey Ryan, can you please tell the power of the oceans legacy specialist you are using for the jacks in this video?? Thank you 😊
Think it’s the PE6 mac
Thanks for reply 🙏🙂, I'm a great fan from Mauritius ❤️👌
Great video you're fun to watch you explain everything so good just let us know what pairs are a at when you're fishing

For offshore fishing get a Shimano Trevala Butterfly Jigging Casting Rod or Ugly Stik Tiger Elite Jigging Spinning Rod
They pair good with that real
