- I watched this 14 year old kid battle with one of the strongest fish on the pier! Snook fishing on the pier can lead to some big time fishing fails. To consistently catch big snook from the pier anglers use heavy tackle and strong tactics. Sometimes even the strongest guys get broken off by these fish (snook).
Catching snook from the pier is a different animal than from a boat, so some different techniques are required. People will catch snook on artificial lures, live bait, and with other fishing techniques.

I have PTSD from Juno Pier.
I caught my first Snook on accident while throwing a gotcha lure on that pier. Surprised I got it up with a $30 Walmart rod lol.

I concluded Florida has the best fishing piers. You guys get all the big fishes and lots of action. Out here in the West coast, we get small fishes and once a while you get a big fish but rare from a pier. Most days we get skunk.

What kind of set up do you have with the bailess reel? And what bait were you using that made you reel in that fast?

Anywhere from 50lb- 100lb.

cowroy64 it varies, but typically only around 12 feet or so. Back in the day it was around 15-17.

biolayne so not technically, it’s called juno beach fishing pier. But it’s just S of Jupiter and the only pier anywhere near the town of Jupiter

I don’t mean to sound like an expert (I’m not) but why do so many people in Florida put a rod with a right handed reel under their right arm. In the fight you can see just how unnatural it is. You don’t get as much leverage and you end up wasting more energy in the fight that way.
Because you can't fight a fish with the rod in your hip when the fish are trying to run underneath to the piling

i would go pier fishing more often if a hurricane didnt knock our pier over, now im forced to be a jetty rat, which isnt too bad but there are some fish at the pier you cant catch at the jetty.
