  • Details of our open-source seed cleaning machine. (Plans are at www.realseeds.co.uk/seedcleaner.html ) We would really have liked one of the fantastic commercial machines made by Selecta or Seed Processing Holland but couldn't afford the price tag of 10,000 - 15,000 euros, so instead we made our own from scrap materials found in a skip.
    It actually works very well, selecting seeds on basis of density, so you can take out for example all the thinner or empty pepper or squash seeds. It works from tiny seed like tomato up to big things like squash and sunflowers.
    OPEN SOURCE PLANS ON OUR WEBSITE AT www.realseeds.co.uk/seedcleaner.html
    Released for non-profit public use under Creative Commons Licence.
    IF YOU BUILD ONE please email me a picture of you and your machine to add to a gallery on our website. Thanks :-)

    I'll probably never need or make this but just to say, Real Seeds are one of the greatest suppliers on the internet. Ethical, fair, DIY, thank you for everything.

      En la página web encontré el diseño, pero no viene la medida de la profundidad, agradecería mucho de tu ayuda.

    Hi realseeds. This is very clever. I have been wracking my brain for about a year, trying to think of how to build an efficient machine to clean mustard seed. This is really a very well considered design. Thanks for publicizing it.

    Amazing machine, I'd love to see more details on how to build it. You're right.. I REALLY REALLY want one, for amaranth and quinoa. I can't afford any commercial things right now, I'm struggling just to buy save for a tractor. Thanks so much for sharing, it does make a difference.

    I have made a machine on similar principles ,but due to the funnel concentraighting the seed into a dense uneven stream im thinking a zig zag piece of wood a few inches below the funnel might spread the seed more evenly and get a more even effect as it enters the airflow.
    Isnt it satisfying to make a machine that works.😊

    I also build with with reclaimed or materials from my land. Well done with that build it looks very good in operation. How did you do this before you built it I am a customer of your wonderful seeds and save many but I don't think I am yet producing enough to build one.

    how much did your cost total? i know you used junk parts but if you were to guess at the cost how much would it be if you went to the hardware store and tried to pick up the items? what a great idea TY for saving our seeds

    Do you have any tips or advice on the precise location for the adjustable air holes please, and what size to make them? It's the only detail missing from your plans and I want to make sure I do them correctly. Thanks!

    • @93mclaren
      @93mclaren Год назад +1

      The size and number aren't terribly important. I just made 2 large ones and a small one and then just adjusted the airflow to my shop vac. If you are getting too much suction with all of them open, just add another hole.

    Hello, these are nice. I wish someone would make a small one for home use that would separate debris from wild bird seed. Mainly black oil sunflower seed. That would be awesome and I have read so many people needing something like that.

    • @beng711
      @beng711 2 года назад

      Glad you like it. This _is_ the small one for home use, many people use them to clean up the seed their parrots eat for example. There are plans if you follow the link and you can easily make your own with some moderate carpentry skills.

    Hola, espero que se encuentren bien, quisiera hacerles una pregunta, quiero descascarillar cacao, pero en la página web no encontré la medida de profundidad ¿alguien tendrá ese dato? o es a criterio propio hacer el corte de la profundidad de la máquina. De antemano les agradezco su ayuda.

    • @beng711
      @beng711 Месяц назад +1

      the depth of the boards is 7cm. La medida de profundidad es 7 cm. No es crucial, pero si lo haces mucho más grande necesitarás mucha más succión.

    • @vocesdelpasado8994
      @vocesdelpasado8994 Месяц назад

      @@beng711 si, eso estaba pensando, que entre más profundidad tenga el mueble, más succión va a requerir. Entonces 7 cm es lo adecuado. Te agradezco muchísimo la inflamación!

    sadly not. but then if you are doing cucumber / tomato/ squash seed, 90 tons might be a wee bit excessive , being for example 28.378 trillion tomato seeds.....
