I am finally making guitars I enjoy playing but it has taken a while. FWIW: I LIKED the asymmetry in the veneer. Given the body, shape it worked and was visually interesting. However, for future experiments, you might consider getting together a collection of touch up pens or cans of stain that are pigmented in close approximation to your collection of raw woods. Using a piece of 1/4" birch or other white plywood, you can lay out your notions, score them in using a utility or hobby knife (do stop bleed through of the pigment) and work several different samples without committing your veneer stocks. You can also use the same technique to brainstorm marquetry ideas (should you be so inclined), again without committing your precious wood stocks. Great job - I would be proud & happy to have produced something of that quality. VERY well done! ALSO... best demo I have seen to date. Same riff/same chord across all the settings vs. a different riff or improv in each setting "cuz it sounds cooler." Listened to each setting a couple times and was able to compare apples and apples (I already KNOW the diff between a tele-twang finger riff and a hard picked neck/high gain rip) What you did is EXACTLY what I do when trying out a guitar (then I act the fool and try to play stuff WAAAAY over my head, but whatcha gonna do??)
Well, this is straight up bad ass. I'm just a little bummed I didn't see this until now. All of the makers in this contest did such a great job. I'm with every one else here who said you did the right thing to fix the "Mistake" that most of us wouldn't have even know about. First class job all the way.
The art of being a luthier isnt making a guitar. Its being about to fix mistakes that were made in the guitar. And you have proved beyond doubt that you are a a fantastic luthier. Great job and great guitar!!!!
Thanks so much! When I first started out I would get so frustrated with my mistakes. Then I learned that we all make them and it’s all just in how we deal with them. I go into a project expecting hiccups now ha
I feel like I'm echoing the same feeling going by previous comments, but this guitar is my favourite build by far. I would be drawn to picking this guitar up every day. And your attention to detail is really refreshing. Awesome.
Such a beautiful piece of work. The sunburst patten and colouring visually reinforce the form and function of the instrument. Brilliant design. Oh, the disasters of making mistakes then the triumphs of fixing them. I too can't live with mistakes. Yes, left unfixed they wake you up in the middle of the night and refuse to let you get back to sleep.
Came back to say that this guitar gave me the kick to pick up guitar. I now own a tele that I swapped out my single coils for Gretch filtertrons, routed out the body for them, learned how to wire, and added a bigsby because I was inspired by this guitar. I have a strat on the way and later this summer will be building my own guitar from scratch, gonna try and make a telemaster!
This is the winner!!! What a beautiful guitar, and the wiring is more then i would ever hoped for . my only wish is that i had the kind of money to bid on it i'm sure it will fetch more then i could ever hope to offer ..
I love natural wood guitars over stained and painted and and what you built is amazing the colours and choices of woods on the top are sublime. As for your accident you were a true professional you just fixed it and made it look easy so we could all learn. You're a true master
Simple, elegant and clean .... and only one neck. It bears all the hallmarks of your style as we've seen on all your projects. And you're current beating both BigD and Brad Hairproducts in the auction.
Been looking around on the official site, Ben's, Derek's, TT, et al. You are getting a lot of love (deservedly) from the community for this build. And you're so (relatively) new to this. I imagine great things are coming.
Hello Tamar, I'm brand new to your Channel. You made an amazing Guitar! I already love your Channel, it's great, and you're a pleasure to watch. Thank you Tamar for including your mistake -that's so honest and 'Big' of you. It's refreshing to see an expert Builder show that they are also human. We all make the mistake, contemplate the fix, and move on. You showed the mistake (now someone may avoid doing that), showed your grief, showed the correct repair solution -very important, and then showed the end result; beautiful! The satisfaction of doing it right outweighs the effort of the repair. Thank you for showcasing your humanness, it makes for a more informative video. It also shows that you care about your work, and inspires your viewers to do the same. Good luck with the Contest Tamar! ...BTW; yours is my favorite -the triple was nice & took a lot of work, but more isn't always better.
what a beautiful guitar, i'm just learning to make them but thanks to this i decided to join the community section of the GGBO 2023 (yknow, the chill, free part of the ggbo, I'm glad they added that). I hope you make one this year as well!
I know this is late, but I went and looked up the other entries in the build-off and wow... yours was without a doubt the BEST guitar in the competition! It really hits that 70's summertime vibe that I love. Awesome work!
Hi from the UK, gotta say this guitar is the winner for me...just stunning. This is the biz, nothing flash or over the top...a classic design well thought out...you have my vote, well done. 👍
That veneer repair left me gob smacked. It humbled me, but and then I saw her trying to drill the cavities AFTER applying the veneer, and I am great again.
Haha I debated for like an hour what I should do first. My reasoning for not drilling the holes to connect the cavities first was bc I knew I was going to use a flush trim bit to clean up the veneer part of the cavity. I was scared the bearing would fall into one of the holes I drilled and it would ruin the whole guitar 😉
That is beautiful! It sounds perfect! I think it says a lot about your devotion as a craftswoman that you did the job right and fixed an error that many would have left. I have such respect for you and your work. Thank you for all you do!
Bloody awesome job Tamar. With a build like that It's hard/nerve racking enough as it is let alone always having the needs of your young kids as a mental distraction. I've just noticed that it sold for US$2750. Well done from your Aussie fan.
Tamar you have the best videos. The timeline was seamless even during the hiccups. I really dig the sun burst with matching cavity cover. Your woodworking skills really show off in that creative design. The body and neck have a incredible unique shape and look fantastic. So glad that you got the tone test on camera. Im sure the other guitarist that you feature on the channel would of been overjoyed to see and play this. Best of luck at the auction. This is hands down my favorite of the bunch. Cheers!
ok. now...... your tuggin at my heart-strings......!!! i been a woodworker ....well , all my life, but at 23 i got a job at a very sm. furniture factory. i was the last employee that was laid off in 2008 . as damaged units was repaired, equipment was sold & removed , ect. i had worked/supervised/ or developed every spot in the factory ( along with maintainance) as it grew to a million dollar Ind. during my 20yr. service. in other words ; i could do any job there . and ive been playing guitar for 20 yrs. also.. i built my first guitar at 9yrs old.non-functioning prop for halloween. and a working ele. 3-string CBG about 10 yrs. ago...
Awesome!, However, it is not just the guitar build, it is the different techniques and thought process you displayed which can be used on other type of projects. You are inspiring!
My compliments for how you solved the issues you run into when building a guitar. I build my own guitars too. And it is not just about a drawing. It is a craft. Making different components that need to line up at the end. Although it was half a kit-guitar, very well done.
Ay, caramba! That’s an awesome creation. I love the way that despite the huge amount of work you put into these projects, you always make it all look so easy.

Tamar, you are a true craftsperson. Every time i watch this video i'm impressed. Thank you for sharing.
The real skill is being able to put things right when they go wrong. Well done.
80% of woodworking is fixing mistakes 😂
I feel like I'm echoing the same feeling going by previous comments, but this guitar is my favourite build by far. I would be drawn to picking this guitar up every day. And your attention to detail is really refreshing. Awesome.
So awesome to hear! Thanks so much!
Thanks so much! Really appreciate it! Yeah. I felt really defeated when I noticed it. But then I felt super pumped when I figured out a way to fix it
Came back to say that this guitar gave me the kick to pick up guitar. I now own a tele that I swapped out my single coils for Gretch filtertrons, routed out the body for them, learned how to wire, and added a bigsby because I was inspired by this guitar. I have a strat on the way and later this summer will be building my own guitar from scratch, gonna try and make a telemaster!
So awesome!!! 🤘🤘🤘
The classiest cleanest build of the competition. Beautiful work, congratulations!
Thanks so much!
The guitar is beautiful...and so is your smile, confidence and optimism!
☺️☺️🤘
This is the winner!!! What a beautiful guitar, and the wiring is more then i would ever hoped for . my only wish is that i had the kind of money to bid on it i'm sure it will fetch more then i could ever hope to offer ..
Thanks so much! So glad you liked it! I spent a lot of time figuring out how I was going to do that wiring. Glad I pushed myself on this one
She is a woodworker, an electrician and possibly even a rockstar. Impressive Tamar, great work!
Hahah! I cook too 😉😂😂
I love natural wood guitars over stained and painted and and what you built is amazing the colours and choices of woods on the top are sublime. As for your accident you were a true professional you just fixed it and made it look easy so we could all learn. You're a true master
Thanks so much! I love being able to showcase the beauty of the natural wood. So happy I was able to recover!
I love the way it’s shaped watching these builds make me want to make a guitar
Thanks so much! Careful. It’s addicting.
Simple, elegant and clean .... and only one neck. It bears all the hallmarks of your style as we've seen on all your projects. And you're current beating both BigD and Brad Hairproducts in the auction.
Haha! So happy I was able to be a part of this and raise money for a great cause
Been looking around on the official site, Ben's, Derek's, TT, et al. You are getting a lot of love (deservedly) from the community for this build. And you're so (relatively) new to this. I imagine great things are coming.
☺️☺️☺️
So awesome to hear! Yeah. We all make mistakes. It’s all in how you deal with them and fix them.
With all due respect...This chick is legit!! Not to many people out there are talented in so many different fields...
🤘🤘
WE DON’T NEED TO SEE ANYONE ELSE! You’re the winner to us!! (At least since the second guitar you built from scratch and the several cigar-boxes).
Hahah! Thanks so much!
what a beautiful guitar, i'm just learning to make them but thanks to this i decided to join the community section of the GGBO 2023 (yknow, the chill, free part of the ggbo, I'm glad they added that). I hope you make one this year as well!
Awesome. Have fun! Wish I could join this year. Too much stuff going on with my new house
I know this is late, but I went and looked up the other entries in the build-off and wow... yours was without a doubt the BEST guitar in the competition! It really hits that 70's summertime vibe that I love. Awesome work!
Thanks so much! Yeah! I was going for a psychedelic feel. Glad it came across!
Hi from the UK, gotta say this guitar is the winner for me...just stunning. This is the biz, nothing flash or over the top...a classic design well thought out...you have my vote, well done. 👍
So awesome to hear! Thanks so much! I had a lot of fun figuring it all out
You definitely don't shy away from difficult ideas. The build is awesome. Outstanding work.
Thanks so much! I do love a challenge.
You really did such a fantastic job - from the aesthetics to the quality of the build. My favourite so far.
So awesome to hear! Thanks so much!
This is by far the most beautiful that I have seen.
So awesome to hear! Thanks!!
Beautiful! Not sure if this is my favourite guitar in the competition, but this is definitely my favourite build-video and maker. Amazing work!
Glad you liked it! Thanks!
This model you created is so unique and beautiful!
Congratulations on your fantastic work!
Thanks so much!
Excellent design with no gimmicks … just a real player’s guitar. 👍
Thanks! Glad you liked it!
I LOVE that router edge guide jig with piano hinge. Brilliant. I'll have to make one of those. Thanks!
You and Big D guitars made the best two ive seen so far. Yours is a work of art. Love it.
Thanks so much! ☺️
That is beautiful! It sounds perfect! I think it says a lot about your devotion as a craftswoman that you did the job right and fixed an error that many would have left. I have such respect for you and your work. Thank you for all you do!
Thanks so much! Leaving it like that would have kept me up for the rest of my life. Ha
Wow...great job. That was a gutsy move to correct the pattern. Beautifully finished.
I had to fix it. Ha
Bloody awesome job Tamar. With a build like that It's hard/nerve racking enough as it is let alone always having the needs of your young kids as a mental distraction. I've just noticed that it sold for US$2750. Well done from your Aussie fan.
Thanks! Was definitely a challenge to build with the kids around
Cheers!
That’s so awesome to hear! I had a lot of fun designing and creating it. It was really fun to see it come to life
ok. now...... your tuggin at my heart-strings......!!! i been a woodworker ....well , all my life, but at 23 i got a job at a very sm. furniture factory. i was the last employee that was laid off in 2008 . as damaged units was repaired, equipment was sold & removed , ect. i had worked/supervised/ or developed every spot in the factory ( along with maintainance) as it grew to a million dollar Ind. during my 20yr. service. in other words ; i could do any job there . and ive been playing guitar for 20 yrs. also.. i built my first guitar at 9yrs old.non-functioning prop for halloween. and a working ele. 3-string CBG about 10 yrs. ago...
I'm in awe of the skill level demonstrated here. Wow! Awesome job!
Thanks so much! ☺️
Wow. One of the most stunning in the comp. letting the wood speak for itself. Well done!!
Thanks so much! I love showing off the wood grail like this
Awesome!, However, it is not just the guitar build, it is the different techniques and thought process you displayed which can be used on other type of projects. You are inspiring!
Glad you liked it! Thanks!
This is gorgeous. This is what attention to details produces.
Thanks so much!! I had a lot of fun with it
My compliments for how you solved the issues you run into when building a guitar. I build my own guitars too. And it is not just about a drawing. It is a craft. Making different components that need to line up at the end.
Although it was half a kit-guitar, very well done.
Thanks!
That's the classiest damn guitar I've ever seen. A work of art.
I absolutely dig this guitar! The shape, the top, the tone, just WOW
Thanks so much! I had a lot of fun with it! Too bad I have to give it away....
That’s a beauty, the shape, functionality and the sunburst pattern are great!
Thanks so much! I had a lot of fun with it
Woodworking. Lead guitar. And a perfectionist. WOW. You're a rock star!!! Amazing job. 😍
Hahaha thanks! 🤘🤘🤘
Ay, caramba! That’s an awesome creation.
I love the way that despite the huge amount of work you put into these projects, you always make it all look so easy.
Haha! Thanks so much!
My favourite guitar in the competition. Love it.
Thanks so much!!
So I just want to say, I do a LOT of wood working and your video is one of the most complete builds (including mistakes/corrections) I have ever seen! This is a great video for all levels of competency and I was very impressed both by thought, design and implementation! Well done and great luck on the Guitar build off!!
Thanks so much! I really appreciate that!
Great job. I am a Woodcraft employee and fellow guitar builder. Glad to see Woodcraft sponsoring you.
Hi! Awesome! Woodcraft is the best!
Really wanted to like Ben's the most, but yours is hands-down my favorite! Love the veneer pattern and the body shape. Well done!
So awesome to hear!! Thanks!!
I think that's the most beautiful looking guitar out of the lot. Absolutely gorgeous!
Thanks so much! Appreciate that!
