Excellent video, and this bike is my cup of tea. The hill climb went as expected, though I was sad for no 0 to 20mph time. 38mph is the natural motor RPM at that voltage, and I could tell from the display that it did it without using field weakening either. Field weakening is used to boost top speed, but the downside is reduced efficiency at top end. Metal gears don't really add anything. I run my RadMini at 2600 watts, with nylon gears, and they've been fine. Last time I checked I had about 6000 miles on the bike. I do have it programmed for a soft start to keep the bike from flipping, but I also ride actual mountain bike trails with occasional jumps. That battery is a great choice. A 48 volt 20Ah battery has 960 watt hours of power, while a 60 volt 20Ah battery has 1200 watt hours. So, if you are using a typical 28 watt hours per mile (Wh/m) when cruising throttle only, the 48v/20Ah battery will take you about 34 miles, and the 60v/20Ah battery will take you about 42 miles. If I had this bike, I would change the front fork, as that seems to be the poorest component. Regarding the suspension seat posts, have you tried the really good ones, like a Suntour? There's a huge difference between a spring seat post and the better ones with correct geometry. Thanks again for the video!
I think a range test is definitely an order, seems to be a fair amount of people interested in that. I have tried the Suntour suspension seat post which is nice but I still prefer a dual suspension, Plus the suspension post add 3 in of seat height which is tough for shorter folks.

If it is out of my line of sight, I lock it up without worrying too much...been locking my bikes the same for about 8 years now...someone tried to steal it once...it started screaming and the police arrested running about two blocks away from my bike😂😂😂
Before i get this bike i need to know if there's a quick disconnect on the motor cable?i hate some of these ebikes where you have to disconnect the rear wheel from the controller in order to remove the rear wheel..
You do a good job on your reviews. I am interested in your opinion on a Wired Purchase. I am a 70 year old fly fisherman and will ride the bike with waders some of the time. I just had a full suspension Bee Cool Adventurer stolen and hence the need to replace it. Okay, so I’m trying to decide Freedom v. Cruiser. I was always an avid MTB rider and swinging my leg over the BC Adventurer really wasn’t a big problem but I’m not getting any younger and the Cruiser is an attractive option. However, I do a lot of gravel washboard riding in my fly fishing pursuit and thinking the rear suspension isn’t something I want to give up. All this said, I don’t have any experience with a fat tire hard tail which I imagine would absorb a lot. I’d be interested in your thoughts…
Citizen, love your show! Your mellow, honest and seem to have it all together, plus a pretty wife. I am 65 live in La. I like the wired bike, but I like dual drive too. What do you feel a good pick would be for me? Thx for your help and keep up the great work. Best Mike T.
Thank you for reviewing this bike, I am very interested in this one. What is the real world range for this bike, if for example you have the pedal assist at 3 and you pedal ? Do you think that 50 miles is doable? One more thing please, how long does it take to charge the battery pack?
Nice review! As a suggestion for a future video... You have several e-bikes. How do you manage all the batteries and keep them safely? Where do you keep them? Inside or out? How often do you charge unused batteries? To what level of charge? Is there a safety concern if lots of batteries are kept inside? Etc. Love your videos. - Eric
Another great video thank you. I'm just kind of curious what kind of range you're going to be able to get with that kind of power. Has me tempted, I like the fact that it has dual suspension. And the upright handlebars. I have a Kepler. And I can do 37 on it fairly easy. But this was got me tempted just for the dual suspension, and the handlebars and of course the power.
Planning on buying one but would first would really appreciate a throttle only range test if and when could get the time , I am on disability and already have a Himiway cruiser that's about as maxed out as you can get without changing the controller and adding a front motor . I will try to sell the Himiway if I buy this one .
I'm impressed, I think this what I'm looking for, but will wait for your range vid to come out. What do you think about it being able to pull a heavy cart behind it. I hunt an fish here in Fla, an I'm looking at this for the woods an the beach. An some street cruising, like going to the groceries store an such in the burbs. Thx for the vid
I've been wondering what it would be like of you used a suspension seat post with a full suspension. I know people say its not needed, but if i already have a donor seat post then is there any reason not to double them up?
It will make it ride even better. I have a sun tour seat suspension post, and I use it on my e-bikes that have dual suspension and I absolutely love it. I can definitely tell a difference when I install it on one of my bikes that does not have dual suspension.
Great review!! I think i might get one. I just sold a juiced bike that i thought had a big battery, but this one is awesome. Also that juiced with 750 motor and just over 1000 peak felt underpowered, nice bike for the money
Very nice put together bike, love the power they put into it. My Freesky himilaya is 22 volt controller and 48v battery with 750 watt bafang motor. Would love to test drive this 60v monster in person though as a comparison in power!
Those cheap tires wear fast if you put miles on them anyway..If you put 1,000 miles on in the riding season, the rear tire will be pretty worn, not the front tire...If you put 2 thousand miles, you'll need tires..
Massive power bike! It needs at least 56 tooth chain ring, 62 tooth would be my choice. I’m hearing metal and plastic mix in the hub is tricky. Something about the heat and both expanding/contracting differently. Ariel Ryder pulled it’s motor over that. Would be nice if they (in future) make that work for longer life.
Please tell me more about AR having to pull a motor over this. What bike was it for? Was it something that happened right away/early or was it an issue after x amount of miles? I want this bike, but would hate to purchase it and have a major issue from something like that. Not sure how easy to replace gears.
Take your time when buying any of these bikes. Look at the forums for comments. That is how I heard what I said. Several sources made comments. It makes sense really doesn’t matter if it’s side by side or blended. Different materials expand differently when heated. It’s great companies are experimenting but who’s the Ginny pig? Do your home work and make a buy. They all have issues all of them . Just be informed is all I’m saying. My hyper scorpion hub is making noise think I got to get a new motor but got 7000 miles on it so no complaints. My scorpion X had only 400 miles and it blew out. It was under warranty so Juiced fixed it. They upgraded the controller and sent a bunch of goodies Arno cost. Juiced treated me good man. Just buy from good people. Shits going to happen they got to have your back!
@@jimjr9143 metal is metal and plastic is plastic. They expand at different rates. I’d like to see some in house lab studies studies . Tora of Juiced bikes did a vid of a demo in the lab of his new hub. That’s why I bought the hyper scorpion in 2000. I got 7000 miles but now it’s making noise. Hubs are good for 5000 miles so I came out good but other owners I hear weren’t so lucky. It’s a crap shoot man! Just do your home work buy and see how it goes.
I have a question for you citizen. I bought a café lock from rad power bikes and it is 1.3 inches thick. will it fit above the controller box? and if not can the box be cheated down just a little bit to make it fit? btw, that café lock is the only one sold anywhere for 4 inch tires and you can plug a chain into it as well. anyways thanks in advance. will check back later and see if you saw this. my bike is coming this month. can't wait.
Great Review - Thanks. Need some help. Tried to buy from the US but Wired wont ship to Australia. Do you know or find out who actually makes or sells the bike - I presume Chinese right? (Obviously this won't affect the US store as they don't sell in my country anyway) but you've convinced me the thing is legit a good bike. Thanks again.
Nice review. Not what I tend to buy, but it is a nice bike. I prefer lighter, narrower tires and less power. But a lot of people like something like this. Will look at the step thru, since I only buy step thru models. That basically eliminates the frame suspension. Glad you pointed out how you can lower the settings and make it more of a cruiser bike. Again a very good review.
That off-road performance is impressive. My bike wouldn't handle that spot and it's got a 750 watt motor. And 78 lbs really isn't that bad, mine is 75 and doesn't have anywhere near the power of this thing.
Wow what power and top speed. Wish it was a 20in fat bike but for the price it something to consider. Do you know what kind of motor connector plug if it's a L1019 or something different? Just wondering since that's a lot of power delivering to the motor.
what does a replacement battery cost on these fat tire styles? im trying to find one on FBM for 1000 but no seller is budging, additionally ive been told these batteries are much more expensive than other commuter ebikes.
Step-over specs say the same weight, 77 pounds, and price, but is lacking rear suspension and top tube. Is there some bonus to make up for the subtraction or just less of a good deal?
the controller placement with fullsuspension is kinda weird I wonder if its easy to move it to a different location might be best to go 20x4 to make more use of the rear suspension also 1 second faster than the amp rides volt ds 1500w :O
One thing I don't understand is why didn't they let the rear Fender go all the way down to protect the controller from water that makes no sense why it would cut out not sure if the production model will be the same
I'm just waiting on a couple checks in the mail and I'm pulling the trigger. hopefully the wait won't be too long and painful. edit I bought one the next day. still waiting.
@@jcc777 Yes 26 is a little too large for my taste. 20 inches is fine on an ebike. I've learned over the past year that I prefer actual motorcycle tires vs the lighter weight thin walled ebike tires. When I went to put Shinko 244 motorcycle tires on my Ariel Rider X Class I learned that that motorcycle tires actually use rim size instead of outer diameter like ebikes and bicycles use. So I had to order 16x3.00 inch tires to replace my original 20x4 tires on the X-Class. I've since ordered an ebike with 17"x3" motorcycle tires and look forward to see how it compares to my X Class. The 19"x3" motorcycle tires are about as large as I would like to go and that equates close to a 24x4" ebike tire in the outer diameter measurements. I'm sure I'll have to have one some day.
We used Quick releases for decades without any issues, but through axle is a little stiffer, but you won't notice it unless you're doing heavy trail riding.
I wish Lyric cycle would let you test their bike. Would love to see the comparison. Has th company cosidered sending you the step-thru version to test? Would love to see your wife try it I am about one inch taller than her.
With that 40 Amp controller and 60 volt battery that motor should be peaking at 2400 watts which to figure out if it's really what company say it is then you take Volts x amps = watts
I would hope that hub motor manufacturers would design them so you can't actually ruin them by using them. That is to say, your throttle-only steep hill climbing test. If the motor burns itself out from that, I consider that a flaw, not abuse.
Citizen bike is still stronger with acceleration and hill climb, however it might lose on top speed to this bike. I'm sure they will be in a future video together 😁
Mines not in yet so cant say. But another thing maybe... maybe?... I havent seen anybody try it but assume turn the C5 to 10 and speed to what ever 20mph is.
Great review as usual. Pretty awesome bike there. A real giddy up. Merry Christmas
Mine is on its way. Thanks for sharing.
mine is too. still no shipping date according to steven.
Huge help with the settings. Thank you for this video. Loving my Wicked Freedom!
I would like to see a comparison between this and the aerial Rider Kepler
Nice review! As a suggestion for a future video... You have several e-bikes. How do you manage all the batteries and keep them safely? Where do you keep them? Inside or out? How often do you charge unused batteries? To what level of charge? Is there a safety concern if lots of batteries are kept inside? Etc. Love your videos. - Eric
This is an excellent video idea. Thank you.
Me too, it needs another motor in front and another battery under bike rack.
Would make it too heavy and the dreaded “peel out” acceleration in the front. Not everybody loves that. Plenty of bikes for that
Great video as always. You convinced me to buy this monster.
Planning on buying one but would first would really appreciate a throttle only range test if and when could get the time , I am on disability and already have a Himiway cruiser that's about as maxed out as you can get without changing the controller and adding a front motor . I will try to sell the Himiway if I buy this one .
Good idea.
He made one if you havent seen it already
Same here!
Do you know if you can get this bike wet? i.e. ride through puddles, ride in the rain etc. I’m a bit worried about the exposed battery
Super review. I am looking, it should not need any beast mods with the 40Amp controller.
I am on the fence about buying this bike, I can say this, the customer service is very responsive. Which is a very good sign.
You always do a well job on your videos. I think I am sold on this one, If I do it will be through you
Good reviews. Great information. Just ordered mine yesterday.
Probably best to pedal before twisting that throttle, or else you'll be buying TWO rear tires within the first year. LOVE this bike!!
Those cheap tires wear fast if you put miles on them anyway..If you put 1,000 miles on in the riding season, the rear tire will be pretty worn, not the front tire...If you put 2 thousand miles, you'll need tires..
@@realeyesrealizereallies6828 Yeah
Or just lower the starting acceleration in the settings?
I confirmed with wicked. These use metal sided nylon gears.
Awesome. I got a question, do you know if they make a 36 volt 20 ah battery?
Kornoge sells them
Great video! Now I know why it's named Wicked. It's Wicked fast!
You got that right!
Excellent review! Thanks!
Looks like this might just be my new bike. I'm totally impressed, maybe a bit slimmer tire. If not, I'll deal with it. Very nice
That off road test was great! Since I am on the short size, would the "walk thru" work for me?
I didn't get to try the step through bike, I'm sure it would be easier for you to mount although I don't know if the seat height is any lower.
Giving the ariel rider kepler a run for its money. I have one and part of me regrets not waiting several more months to order this!
Great review! Can you do a video specifically on programming?
Will be purchasing this one for sure
Awsome bike /motorcycle 🤣 wow tremendous power great video👍👍
Wow what power and top speed. Wish it was a 20in fat bike but for the price it something to consider.
Do you know what kind of motor connector plug if it's a L1019 or something different? Just wondering since that's a lot of power delivering to the motor.
what does a replacement battery cost on these fat tire styles? im trying to find one on FBM for 1000 but no seller is budging, additionally ive been told these batteries are much more expensive than other commuter ebikes.
I have been watching your very informative video on this e bike. How easy is it to just pedal it along?
no very easy without motor power, you can do it but its pretty tough, much heavier than non electric bike and the fat tires give rolling resistance
Step-over specs say the same weight, 77 pounds, and price, but is lacking rear suspension and top tube. Is there some bonus to make up for the subtraction or just less of a good deal?
Great Vid as usual but 1 important question , where would get a spare battery since I can't find 1 anywhere ?????
On their website
Do you think you will review a Cyrusher Ranger next year , looking forward to it.
Wicked Cruiser (Step Thru). Looks very similar without the rear suspension. Same price and very similar specs.
the controller placement with fullsuspension is kinda weird I wonder if its easy to move it to a different location might be best to go 20x4 to make more use of the rear suspension also 1 second faster than the amp rides volt ds 1500w :O
Very well put together video! Thanks!
Thank you!
One thing I don't understand is why didn't they let the rear Fender go all the way down to protect the controller from water that makes no sense why it would cut out not sure if the production model will be the same
I'm trying to find the measurement of the screen. The last ebike I owned I scratched up the screen allot. I wanna slap a protector on there.
I would like to know how to get low end torque. Then how to change to top speed. ?? Is it easy to change.😮
I'm just waiting on a couple checks in the mail and I'm pulling the trigger. hopefully the wait won't be too long and painful. edit I bought one the next day. still waiting.
Like the handle bars don't know why others don't use the
Oh man, it's got everything you could want except 24 inch tires! Awesome bike
I guess I’m not the only one that the 26 is just a tiny bit too much. In the 20 doesn’t really fit my idea of a bike.
I’m a big tall man. I’ve always wondered if a ‘quick release’ is just as strong as a through axel?
We used Quick releases for decades without any issues, but through axle is a little stiffer, but you won't notice it unless you're doing heavy trail riding.
What about throttle only range test ????Oh buy the way I found the where I could buy a spare battery
Where?
Did you get a spare battery for the wicked or now wired? Where was it and how much? Thanks.
6
Damn, that is amazing value
I wish Lyric cycle would let you test their bike. Would love to see the comparison. Has th company cosidered sending you the step-thru version to test? Would love to see your wife try it I am about one inch taller than her.
Do a range test pls.
With that 40 Amp controller and 60 volt battery that motor should be peaking at 2400 watts which to figure out if it's really what company say it is then you take
Volts x amps = watts
Should see a peak of 2688w with a fully charged 60v battery.
Awesome bike!
I would hope that hub motor manufacturers would design them so you can't actually ruin them by using them. That is to say, your throttle-only steep hill climbing test. If the motor burns itself out from that, I consider that a flaw, not abuse.
power on tap. i think we need a Citizen vs Wicked comparo!
Citizen bike is still stronger with acceleration and hill climb, however it might lose on top speed to this bike. I'm sure they will be in a future video together 😁
We're is the front basket mount? Rack needs to be beefer.
Unfortunately no mounting points for a front basket
does it do wheelies woodale il, is only 30 min from me?
Any coupon codes for the bike?
what kind mirrors do u use on the magicycle ocelot
Mines not in yet so cant say. But another thing maybe... maybe?... I havent seen anybody try it but assume turn the C5 to 10 and speed to what ever 20mph is. Should kick butt to 20 and hold as cruise if want power but speed dont matter and willing to go slower to save battery. oh and it looks like you can click something for a cruise control too in settings. Anyways cant wait until mines delivered!
what are the gloves that you use?
Is this bike a torque or cadence based?
It has a cadence sensor
Looks awesome do you have a link to buy the controller I want to upgrade the one on my bike .
you could email Wicked and see if they will sell you a controller.
Look at how little clearance there is between the speed controller and the back tire. 😳
Not a huge amount of travel but it makes a big difference! You can really feel it! Works really good for high speed on roads, soaks up all the bumps. Never buying a hard tail e-bike again.
the bikes now ship with a extra shock that is longer that you can put on to increase that distance. I just bought an air shock.
