    Do You soak your new line in a bucket of water (12 to 24 hours b4 use) as recommended in the Stihl instructions that come with the head. Do you think this makes a difference in the performance of the line?

    Everything worked Just as you said it would. So easy-to-use. I didn’t even take the spool off the trimmer, just pushed the line through the hole after lining it up and then evened the line up and started to crank the head as showen on your video. All together it took about 3 to 5 minutes and I was back to trimming again. Thanks for the helpful video. 👍 👏

    The Stihl Autocut 26-2 came stock on my FS56RC. My first order of business was to replace it with a normal Speed Head 400 when I noticed the Autocut added to much weight to my trimmer that it actually felt like I'd mounted a blade. I expect that on a blade, but a string trimmer head? I weighed the 26-2 and the Speed Head. The 26-2 was over 5 ounces heavier (1.1lb to 11oz) than the Speed Head. The Speed Head works perfectly--the Autocut is in storage.

      yeah i immedaitely noticed that too when i replaced it with a speedfeed 400 lol. its so much lighter its easier to handle and i think it cuts better due to being lighter since the motor can spin the lighter head faster and easier

    Great video/tutorial. I recently purchased My 56C and am very happy with it, and the 26-2 trimmer head that came on it. I always dreaded starting to cut grasses, etc. because of the constant messing with the line getting jammed or running out in short order, requiring what seemed like a stupidly long time disassembling the head and rewinding it. I just purchased the Stihl FS 56 trimmer with the auto cut head that you show in the video. I have brought it back to where I’ve purchased it twice. Here’s my issue. When I am using the trimmer IM having to tap the head too often to extend the line. I get about 6 to 10 feet of trimming and the line is disappearing inside of the head. I do hold my trimmer upright most of the time in my yard to edge my mulch beds. The last trimmer I had for 15 years was an echo and I only had to bump it 2 or 3 times to extend the line in the 45 minutes that it takes me to do my yard . This trimmer seems like it is very well-made but I am confused as to why am I losing the string so fast. Thank you

    • @style5tie
      @style5tie Год назад +2

      Soak the head in some water for 24 hours or so before using. See if that helps. It sounds like the line that's in the head is dried out and brittle. The head itself isn't causing the line to wear/break faster.

    I just put this head on my Stihl 56RS. I hated the old head and had issues with it throwing the string out. After I put this head on I used it for about 3 feet and the string broke off inside the head. Had to take it apart to get it back out the feed channels. Same thing again in 3-4 feet. Thought maybe the string was old and it had been on the shelf or something for a while so put new Stihl string on it. The knob is extremely hard to turn while loading it. String would not feed again.
    Any suggestions? POS or something else?

    • @mainstreetmower
      @mainstreetmower  3 месяца назад +2

      The knob is hard to turn, but we have not found any issues with breaking line. The new line should have fixed the problem. I would guess if you were having problems with the old head too, it’s likely what or how you are trimming. Edging with a line trimmer and chain link fences are big line eaters. Also you want to operate with the line at full length and cut with the tips of the line. If you are diving in too quickly on vegetation that is too thick it will wrap around the trunks like Indiana Jones whip and yank it off at the eyelet.
      If all else fails, take it to your dealer and let them test run it for you to see if they can duplicate your results

      @@mainstreetmower Thanks for the follow up. I do not have any chain link or trees. Only using it on fescue against a brick and stone fence. Use an edger for the sidewalks. I dont think it has anything to do with how I am using it but I do like the idea of letting the dealer run it some.
      Thanks again.

    HI I have a Stihl fs55RC trimmer. it has the old style winding 2 pieces cord into 2 feeds manually. This model has a steel plate between the winder and the unit stem.
    Once I remove the manual feeder unit I also remove the metal plate. Then the protruding cog and screw is not compatible with the trimmer, and if I replace the metal plate, add the c26-2 unit ,the trimmer does not spin when started.

    I heard that this model of mowing line, as long as it hits the ground when starting the machine, the mowing line will automatically extend without manual work. I tried several times without success, could you please demonstrate?

      Sir, that is THE question landscaping industry is asking right now. Is it time to switch to battery? As of now, the answer to that is very user and application specific. However, we did try to answer that in this video. Check it out: ruclips.net/video/ZiPFcOQCRq4/видео.html

    How do you put the 26.2 on your trimmer????

    • @mainstreetmower
      @mainstreetmower  2 месяца назад

      Drop a locking pin into the hole on your gearhead. This will lock the rotation of the gearbox, then you can grab the whole plastic bump head assembly and spin clockwise. Spin the new head back on counterclockwise.
