    These Wear out much quicker than the 25-2. for me twice as fast. Since i can no longer get the old one, i will be trying out some different brands as i dont want to give my money to stihl as they are clearly profiteering by making consumables more consumable

      this is exactly what im doing,i bought genuine stihl,it didnt make it to two hours...as far as im concerned its stihl branded stihl priced chinese crap so im looking at husky stuff now.i dont mind paying the money, ive been a stihl fan for many years but the stuff you buy now is no different to the generic cheap chinese crap on ebay at a third of the price.

      You can get the old version, just get your dealer to look at the online parts system and the parts are there.

    I like the husky t35 heads. I cant wind a speed feed well because it hurts my hand and the t35 is the fastest loading non twist head.

    The Stihl Autocut 26-2 came stock on my FS56RC. My first order of business was to replace it with a normal Speed Head 400 when I noticed the Autocut added to much weight to my trimmer that it actually felt like I'd mounted a blade. I expect that on a blade, but a string trimmer head? I weighed the 26-2 and the Speed Head. The 26-2 was over 5 ounces heavier (1.1lb to 11oz) than the Speed Head. The Speed Head works perfectly--the Autocut is in storage.

      I just changed over to Stihl as I wanted a lighter machine. But the 350 heads I use ( being light) don't fit as the thread is a different pitch.
      Did you have to change the hardware on the 400 to get it to fit ?

    • @Tonedog88
      @Tonedog88 5 месяцев назад +1

      The 400 heads are ubiquitous on Amazon and Ebay, and I've seen them cost less than $10, but usually around #20, and they come with the necessary hardware to fit Stihl and Echo trimmers.

    I’m contemplating throwing an Echo speed feed head on my KM130R. The only thing is, the 25-2 is compact and tough as hell. Not sure if upgrading the head is really worth it because 20+ feet of .105 line lasts a long time in a 25-2…and they aren’t that hard to reload. Thoughts?

    the Stihl auto cut 26-2 is for quick line refeeding, as a contractor it save me time and less additional spool head's to carry.

    I run a km 131r i do a lot of commercial work so I've modified my 25-2 head to run 130 and 155 when I'm doing a property that has small trees trying to grow thick grass and sticky briars the 95 and 105 just doesn't cut it the 130 and 155 also works well for edging

    The sound was identical. The ease for opening it is nice. The printed indicator is nice to thread the right line into it. I think it's worth the extra 2$

    One of these came factory on my FS131R. I wanted to like it because it appears to be made really robust, and obviously it fits my stihl trimmer the best because it's OEM, but you really have to beat it against the ground to get more line to come out. Wasn't a big fan, I switched to an echo speedfeed.

    During the sound test, I didn't hear any difference really. As for pushing those tabs, your current ones are very used. Bet the new design does the same thing when it's been used for a while. I'm hoping they don't discontinue your current one. I say if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

    I got one of these with the FS-KM trimmer attachment for my KM131R kombisystem from Stihl...biggest issue...the line keeps getting wound back in/dropped off/shortened after short usage....went to the dealer who advised that it was a known issue with Autocut 27-2 and suggested to use the Autocut 25-2 as it was tried and ture...did that and had exactly the same issue. Both brand new heads in question....the Autocut 27-2 is a lot easier to open as opposed to the 25-2, that is true,,,,wonder if I am alone with these line problems...

    When I had to replace the head on my trimmer attachment I replaced it with the C-26-2 thought it was great at first, but I'm not as crazy for it, it seems like STIHL trying to create their version of Echo/Shindaiwa's Speed Feed head

    In my opinion the new head is absolute rubbish. You have to use the proprietary line which breaks every few seconds. So, you spend your time tapping the head like you're a demented flamingo dancer. I took mine back after two hours of trying to cut grass. I went back to my local small engine chap and asked him if the parts for head of my FS38 were available. He did some checking, and they are. So, I got a new set, went back to the Stihl store and said look I have a brand-new original head. I will point out I am a huge Stihl fan, with 4 chainsaws, a combo kit plus hedge trimmer etc. All Stihl gear is usually brilliant, just their marketing department isn't. The dealers need to feed this back to Stihl HQ. Cheers,

    why would anyone torment themselves and continue to use this age old poorly designed head? better yet why doesn't stihl just give in and pay the royalties and include the speedfeed head on their products. it makes no sense. if you have limited hand function such as neuropathy, this autocut head will anger you.
