In this video I compare my Oregon Speed Feed Head 55-265 VS. my Stihl Speed Feed AutoCut C 26-2 Trimmer Head. Both of these speed feed heads are great heads! I go over the pros and cons of the Oregon and Stihl speed feed head. Also I want to give a Big shout out to Brian Fullerton with‪@BriansLawnMaintenance‬ for the echo leaf blower! I wanted to like the Stihl auto head but as it aged it became extremely difficult to rotate to get line respooled in it. I also ran the auto Stihl head when I had the guard on the trimmer, and since the head was so large, the cutting area was greatly reduced. For me the size and the rewinding was a no go.
I Have just purchased the Echo 400 for my Stihl, so we will see how it does. None commercial us just alot do in the yard, so I expect to get some life out of it.

Instead of buying a whole new Oregon head, u can likely buy the cap alone from them and put the spring in it and on the trimmer

Try the Shakespeare speed feed head, it’s awesome and it have no gap like the echo and Oregon. You can get them from Lowes and Tractor Supply.

I will never buy a Stihl speed feed head again just because of how hard it is to string. It takes me like 3 minutes to string it and the Oregon takes me like 20 seconds

Nice! They both work great! Stihl breaks faster but if you replace the bottom bump piece then it’s like you have a new head.

I’m actually going to update this video. I started out liking the Stihl head better but now I hate it! It doesn’t last very long and when it starts to wear down it’s a pain in the but to put string in! I went back to the Oregon speed feed head.
