Before these easy wind systems and before throttle lockouts and clutches to stop the head from spinning at idle speed, my parents had the best winding system. It was called the "you kids put this trimmer line on this here trimmer, the instructions are over there"
Man, if I knew these existed before I would've bought one years ago! That is fantastic engineering! I'll definitely be getting one!!
my stock trimmer head bumped and advanced line constantly with the slightest touch. so i bought a rhino head like this one. its a beast. easy install and trims super. what a difference. i can now trim without using a 100 feet of line. bumps when i make it. perfect.
I bought the yard gear max load to replace a POS head that came on my Craftsman. The new head held so much line, by the time I needed more, I forgot how I loaded it the first time! Had to go back to this video to remind myself. I've been real happy with it. No fuss.
I miss shindaiwa promatic heads, I got 3 of them, 1 being used and 2 for backups with plenty of eyelets and buttons. Thanks for the vid!
In my opinion my speed feed head cap has never came of since I bought my sthil fs56 rce and I own a shindiwa t261 b with a speed feed 450 and I think speed feed did a good job
I dislike twist to load heads. I got arthritis in my hands and it hurts me. I like the husky t35 head. You can buy extra line spools for it and just throw an extra spool in your pocket if you got cargo pants or leave a couple in the truck
I drill a hole in the center of my speed feed head and put a 3/8 bolt with flat washers. The head will last for years. I’m wondering about if it could be done with the Shakespeare? I like the winding better because I run the edgit pro and it’s a little hard to wind because of lack of room
Going to try me one thanks. Same as you used echo forever ready for a change and I get the more smooth part!
Is that the same Shakespeare that makes fishing rods?
Is it possible to add a bolt at the bottom the the head?
Damn, better than the speed feed? Guess I'll have to try it out. You are the one that got my trimmer addiction going, so the least you could do is put out those videos. Nobody cares about the editing. Cheers and take care
awesome to hear! yea i have pro no joke over 100 now to edit and upload.from years back even lol. this head is still doing great! have them on all the ones i use.speed feed are still great! just like this one more
@@exterminator1 yeah, started out as a helper last year, and the echo triggers were giving me carpal tunnel. Searching brought me to your channel and that's where it started. Got the 525lk to start out with on your praise of husqvarna, so thanks for that! That thing is awesome. It's not hard to tell when the endorsement from the pros are the real thing, and not a commercial.
I always bump it in the grass so I don't damage the head
My great uncle taught me to just extend the line manually to avoid scraping up the head. But yes, you're supposed to bump feed on grass not concrete, rock, or sand.
Joe Schwitters@ Yours is about the only sensible comment on here. My Honda bump feed has been on my UMK435 since new, 2012, and the bottom of the head is still shiny. Because I don’t bump feed it on concrete or asphalt. You’re standing on grass whilst you’re using it. It’s not as if you have to go looking for a GREEN patch. People trash their equipment then blame the manufacturer. Looking at the build up of crap on these 2 brushcutters, you can imagine the attention to detail he must take. I just roll my eyes at a lot of the RUclipsrs.
@@andregreen8040 Agree with you 100 percent.
Same
I run a bolt in the Speed Feed head and they NEVER wear out.
use thick washer in center, speed feed head....no wear on head..
Try a 396 f-one for 25 cc and below, the 596 is a larger head for bigger machines. Forgot to mention that.
Are they similar? Never heard of that company. Is it in the USA?
where can i get that head at?? how much does it cost????
I might have to give this a try then 🤔. I'm a pretty big echo guy but I'm all for giving other stuff a try
Echo makes a speed feed head all you have to do is put a bolt in the bottom of the head and speed feed head will pretty much last forever
@@JoshSmith-wo7zw I run echo and like the echo speed feed, but I'm always looking to try new stuff
@@JoshSmith-wo7zw very true!
I have to do all the yard work by myself and trimming is the worst for me.. I purchased a trimmer plus straight shaft attachment. It uses the areo flex spool trimmer line but my florida grass and my lack of skills are eating away at the lines. I try and edge the driveway and pull back to see the areo flex all shot to heck and I have to change them out. I get around the ditch drains and the areo flex seems to just bend the grass instead of cut. I am only mentioning this to see if you have used it before and let you know I am returning it for the max load pro bump head for thirty as you suggested instead of the eighty I spent plus the lines. I need simplicity in my life at seven in the morning it is already eighty degrees outside so having the right equipment for me is essential.
Get yourself a Stihl combi system km 91R. You won't regret it
@@vilsan.r.9875 thank you!! My husqvarna weed eater is unable to use the max load pro bump head and believe me i tried everything to make it work. I will give your idea a try next time I am out shopping I will pick one up.
Redmax heads all the way man they give you a nice low cut.
Does it fit a Stihl
yes
Ty for the video I'm thinking about trying it out
What is the line you are using
You still rocking the Shakespeare heads ??
Do they sell replacement caps for this head? Couldn't find any on the Lowes website.
Check Shakespeares website
Thanks
Do u use a spacer when installing on a Stihl trimmer like u do on the speedfeeds? Also can you only turn the bottom of the head to crank in the line or can you turn the top part of the head too in opposite direction to speed up the process?
man i got a speed feed that's two years old don't look that bad , lol..what did they do to the quality ?
just like most of the others in business, once they know they have a good seller they start cheapening things up to make even more money.
I will try it .thank you
I got a supply house near me they got all the different bolts u need for all your diff models
whats best battery powered /cordless weed eater??? im retired w/1 lil yard.
I have limited experience with battery.i would go to a husqvarna dealer and use theirs though.
It looks heavy.....it isn't?
I run the KM111, (brush cutter boom with a Stihl trimmer head) seems nothing but the Stihl fits it. I wanted to put the Echo Speed on it but noooooo :( 😭
Hi, do I need a adapter nut to install the Shakespeare on my Stihl fs130r?
They come with adapters on the back of the package :)
Love them better than speed feed...where can I find the gator line I've checked my Lowes and home Depot can't find it.
I ordered it on pro parts direct ,ebay amd amazon
Thank you brother..I'll try Amazon 1st since I'm a member..👍😎
Can that be installed on the echo SRM225
Nothing beats a Speed Feed....
Well it fit on a ryobi or a husqvarna
Why in the hell do you buy the gator trimmer line
Hey I got a question for you regarding my husqvarna 128ld you seem like an expert in the field and I’d love to hear your thoughts on my issue I’m having.
?
Curiously. Does it last just as long as speedfeed 450?
So far longer.i havnt had to replace the caps.more durable.
I was all in until I found out where it was made. I`ll stick with trying to figure out how to install a USA-made Speed Feed onto a Core trimmer (from which its trimmer line kept getting entangled and slicing off prematurely). This should be interesting.
Oregon makes speed feed. However husqvarna has a new one too! Love it
Do those bigger heads make it not balanced I was thinking of upgrading
Balanced and super smooth brother.
U think that Shakespeare head will fit my stihl 56
@@jp-us9rq yea it will.had several 56
great vid, will it fit redmax 260
@@MyF-qx1tp redmax all day brother, i run a BCZ23OTS
You sure you didn’t get a knock-off speed feed head? I noticed at the Husqvarna dealer a few days ago they have a speed feed head too. Thought about trying one on my 525LST.
Def not generic.its made by Shakespeare. A well known company in the industry.way better than speed feed in quality...Yea husqvarna has a new one they showed during last year virtual event. I will be trying those too asap
Can the Shakespeare Max Pro fit the Echo trimmers? Thanks!
Yes
Will that fit the Husky 535?
No clue
I'm alone on this but I hate the speed feed. I've never had so many fails to feed due to line welds.
You need different line then. Been using them for years and never had line welding in them
@Beardman56 I have the echo black diamond. It's new line (not the old brittle stuff)
It's not like back in the day where you could literally reel it too tight.
@@GranitePropServices that really odd. Been through countless spools of black diamond and others and never had any issues. Sounds like you might have a defective speed feed head. I'd give one of these in this video a try
@Beardman56 I might.
I kinda thought it might be defective. This was my first experience with them, I've been using my manual reel until the beginning of this season.
Shakespeare makes good fishing rods, i use an ugly stick lol a GX2
O yea! I never put the 2 together lol.i be dang. I use to fish decades ago weekly for years.now I remember thanks!
lowes, good nuff!
It ain't ever good to take the shields off your trimmer, even with an 8 inch swath, its too much strain for your motor, its designed for 6 inch, hence why the blade on the shield keeps it cut to a proper length
I've made several videos about that.i have even showed the clutch after 4 years of no guard.hurts nothing.i even show inside the cylinder wall in a vid. Honestly there is nothing to hurt.sure your the engine possibly could run hotter killing a spark plug or coil.but the oil mix will easily handle the added heat.
@@exterminator1 shit well i always say experience is the best teacher in life, looks like you experienced it so i will take your word for it, it was always something i was told but never really knew the validity of it
@@exterminator1 either way, great video man, this is the exact kind of stuff i look for, why is one better than the other, im very analytic, so the smallest details will determine my choice lol
1:18 thats factory shindaiwa stuff.
they merged so its one company.I stated that in vid.thanks for watching!
no link?
Lowes or tractor supply. Just Google it.i buy them in store.
I know you like trying new stuff so do yourself a favor and order a Arnetoli motors 596 trimmer head. You’ll never run anything else. Trust me neighbor
As you Yanks have different names for things, it sometimes gets a bit confusing as to what you are talking about! In the UK almost every commercial strimmers comes with what we call a bump and feed head. Bump it & it feeds line until it runs out! Don't understand why so many people have trouble loading the head anyway, it's a piece of piss!
Well we call them string trimmers.that is what they are called. Some say weed eater because of the old brand.then the head is a trimmer head.your country like all others have dif ways.but speed and ease of reloading is very important when you have tons of properties to do and especially working on hillsides all day.the oem heads slow down production.theu are easy to load but slow.especially when training new employees.
I will not buy this trimmer again. First of all, its not made in the US. Secondly and most importantly, it have a complete design failure. The bottom parts of this head have very thin edge.
Must have been a chinese company cause they are no long available on amazon.
Shakespeare? It's been around forever in the lawn and garden side of things
