the only time i ever saw my husband dance to a song, in his entire life before he died, was just this one time when we were teenagers to She Blinded Me With Science. This song will forever remind of him and make me smile when i hear it. Still sounding good, too!
🎵 poetry🕺♥️💃motion 🎶
Cherish those moments forever. :)
wow, that is a powerful memory
This songs bring out the best in people👍
How sweet!
I too want a button I can hit that yells "SCIENCE!"
if that was intended as funny I like it
The old Doctor lives on forever as a sample! "Science!"
Looool!!!
WINDOW LICKER
He's not a doctor he's a British Scientist!
Mangus pyke!
@@robbieterminie8571 Dr Magnus Pyke
That's amazing that 99% of that song was done on the keyboard.
As a 60 something yr old, man I miss the 80's!!🥲
Thomas Dolby has toured with David Bowie as the keyboardist/Synth player.
He's legit!!!!
On stage with Bowie at Live Aid!
he was also on the wall live in berlin roger waters with guest artists well worth a watch.

I grew up in the 80's listening to this. It's so cool to hear again and recognize its greatness. True pioneering!
Absolutely spot on!! Made an old man very happy!
As a fan of hard rock and heavy metal, I have to confess this song is a guilty pleasure. It's just so good and original, how can anyone NOT like it?
Huge metalhead, love Grindcore. But I grew up with Abba, Dolby, and Talking Heads and such lol
You ain't alone!
I really like what Thomas did this is why the 80s were so dam good.
This is timeless
My brother, John, who was living in Costa Mesa down the coast from LA had me come stay with him for the summer of 1985 when he flew me from Detroit. He was driving me around Hollywood looking at all the usual tourist stuff. We pulled up next to a Jeep on Sunset Boulevard at a red light next to an open Jeep Wrangler (Or CJ at the time -- It was a Jeep :)
We looked over and said to each other, "That looks like Thomas Dolby!" Having both been alternative music radio DJs in college, we were quite sure. We both stared before the light turned green... Mr. Dolby looked at us, smiled, and nodded.
Being in business theater for 20 years, I have met many celebrities and sports stars who end up backstage where I operate graphics to big screens. That smile and nod was as good as a handshake and signature on an album cover. Good times!
Gary Lewis That's so awesome. Did you stay in LA or return to the D? Which alternative stations did you DJ for? I'm pretty shocked that my kid loves music from the 80s. I expected him to totally tease me, but he loves tons of it!
I thought about staying out west and going to UCLA but I was halfway through college so I went back to Detroit. I worked at our Oakland University campus station WOUX (Now WXOU) and played live at a bunch of bars around Oakland County. Good times!
Gary Lewis I can't remember the college station that used to come through in Macomb County. Maybe it was from Ann Arbor. I used to listen to 88.7 before it had strict playlists (before 89x). That was Canadian, right? I also remember listening to a local high school radio station (Mott, I think). I'm so glad I don't have to rely on radio to find good music these days. I can't imagine running out of music to hear.
Never made our radio playlist. A turn-off-the-station-song. Good fun for home listening though, cleaned my ears with this and Laurie Anderson -Language is a virus from Outer Space..
He's incredible! Such an underrated artist! I didn't want the song to end.......more, more!! LOL
Brilliant..
Thank you all.
Pitch perfect, took me back decades in seconds. 🙏
I just saw he got a lifetime achievement award,he is my idol
Many happy memories of this song and "Hyperactive" in the early 80s.
If you’re ever feel down just listen to this. Absolutely amazing!
I remember seeing this for the first time on MTV in 82. Thomas Dolby is on my permanent playlist since then. He is just great.
Trust me, this guy was scarring the crap out of people like Prince and Michael Jackson before they had really hit...nobody could figure out what Thomas Dolby was doing.
Dolby is an absolute LEGEND!
LOVE HIS MUSIC LOVE HIS STYLE LOVE HIS CREATION OF SOUND THE MAN IS A LEGEND!!!
He"s still as great as before 👍
You want some of this, me too.....ok here we go....Cheers to science......🥂 One of my favorite subjects in school
Thomas Dolby and his music are *still* so cool and he sounds so awesome! Thanks for posting this, The Current.
it's an absolutely cracking track, and amongst lots of brilliant elements (funky bass line, Magnus Pyke, sinuous synth solo, etc), I always love the fantastic ending. Such a tricky thing to write so that it's perfect, but it just enables the track to go out with a BANG. Chapeau, Mr Dolby!
How does he make it sound this good after all that time?
a) Modern production technology advances b) He's still got it.
A hot young librarian with glasses " Blinded Me with Science " after checking out a college science book. Whoo- Hoo. When this song was on the top 100 billboard charts in 1982.
Got to wear them glasses. Vision is not what it was since that encounter. The song is still Muh favorite to this day... Poetry does come in motion, YEAH>>>>>
Bravo ...and hats off also to the late great Doctor Magnus Pyke.
the best song ever
Always been a fun song to dance to.
That Tele sounds so 80's! Spot on!
Science!
*ABSOLUTELY ASTONISHING! The stunning talent and intricately flawless performances by this modern day musical prophet will not catch up with the public for many years to come. Thomas Dolby is not "of" this day. He is far beyond what most people can conceive musically. Long live The Master.*
Underrated artist with a sense of humor.
******YES******
There are plenty of very good musicians around today….but sadly very few great ones like this man
This song still slaps👏👏👏👏👏

Hasn't aged a bit - still as enthralling as it was in the 80s.

Thomas Dalby was and still is a mad genius!
Always loved his stuff in the 80’s and it just gets better with age like a fine wine.
I can smell electro-pop, funk and jazz with crazy samples. Perfection.
Thanks, Daminoc.
Frikkin' awesome. This should be the official ComicCon opening ceremonies anthem
I never realized what a sick guitar line that was
Wow he has an awsome voice

John Malkovich in his 80's cover band
Papallazarou That would be awesome!!!!!
Nice to see them doing it fully live! Sounds great!
If you also have him performing "The Ability to Swing," well, share that one, too! One of my favorite songs of all time!
TD Rocks! Takes me right back to high school. Golden Age of Wireless, baby! Awesome.
Just stumbled across this live version while looking for some 80's tunes for a compilation for a slide show....too good !
Dolby is so influential...amazing.
He was my fave back in the day!!!
I really like the ‘eerie haunting musical tune’ that is played by the special sounds effects on the Synthesiser ! 😨😮
THANK YOU THAT WAS AWESOME!!
I love how he perfectly back plays the sample twice at 2:38 :) LOL.
Dr Magnus Pike lives on!! Great Performance, it must be hard to keep everything going hitting the right samples for all the other parts.
In a word, he lives on. Science ! & " Good heavens Ms Sakamoto, you're beautiful ! ".
I saw Magnus Pyke at University, he came to do a lecture, very entertaining! Yes, he shouted "Science!"
Love this song!!!!
Timeless Cut!!
This one probly The Greatest by TD ... I DJ'd here in Syracuse from 84-Jan 90 .. and played this every time ... ! Its a classic to this day and always will be ... !! ... ( Its Poetry In Motion ) ...
Bring back the '80 :-)
love the moment right at the end when Thomas looks up and enquires "was that ok" ? yes, Thomas it was fine
So much fun 😁😁😁
"ALL MY TUBES AND WIRES"??? The first time I ever plunked down cold hard cash for ANY piece of music was for the Blinded By Science cassette tape and I have loved the song ever since... but it wasn't until watching this video 40 years later that I heard that lyric clearly! "All my tootin' eyes?" "All my truth 'n lies?" So embarrassing. But this piece is still so much fun to listen to...!
very cool
Hell Yeah!
Siooooo great
God, I love the 80's. :D
Thomas dolby lives in Baltimore i was in his apartment a few years back fixing his ac unit
+Michael Baublitz Dolby moved back the UK, but he has been teaching a music/technology course at John Hopkins University.
I was hoping for a lot more run on this guy. This song was the break out hit of the 80s and I expected a whole new era of cool to emerge but it seemed like he peaked with this one hit. Regardless he put a permanent time stamp and PWNED the 80s. I'm here because I hear this song on Pandora all the time, and it never fails to please. Rock on Mr. Dobly (nod to 80's Spinal Tap hehe).
He may have peaked commercially, but I believe that his artistic peak came with the follow up to Golden Age, The Flat Earth. One of the absolute best sounding albums to come out of the decade, and the songwriting was incredible.
Wow he's amazing pure genius :-)
Thomas Dolpy is the best
love this guy - love the little guitar change - wish they'd play around a bit more - great song
authentically awesome
Extraordinario
