I have been a hairdresser in the US ( Atlanta area ) for 40 years. Women get extensions, wigs, a huge array of choices ( and no one seems to care!) I think you should enjoy it, own it, and have fun with it!! Go for it, and I think( as a professional) it looks really great!! We change outfits, shoes, make up, etc!! Enjoy your new look. It’s very natural looking . I remember your music, and really enjoyed it very much , and you are definitely on my Spotify!! Safe travels to you!🫶🏻😊

Mr Dolby, I wrote a letter to you in about 1982, such an innocent time, professing my love of your music which I constantly played . You very kindly wrote back to me telling me you often had lyrics pop in your head while ironing or feeding your cat 😊. You were a big part of my youth. Still love music but my taste is heavier, I have followed Tool since the 90s. I'm going to have to put your album on now and reminisce!

I was listening to so much music back in the 80's "New Wave" and all that. I think "Airwaves" is one of the most beautiful songs ever written. I listen to it almost every day, right before sunset, which is usually the most peaceful and prettiest time of day. So, Thomas Dolby is with me nearly every day! And I've enjoyed all of the videos I've seen of him on RUclips - not just music videos, but interviews, demonstrations of electronics in music, etc. A nice, genuine guy, I'm sure.

    • @BLD426
      @BLD426 26 дней назад

@extantia I first bought it on cassette. Bought it based on "blinded me ..." Realized "Submarines" was such an ethereal song about a tragic thing (common during WW2 of course). And it was constructed with a bunch if electronic noise really, but the radio broadcast sounding announcement about a missing submarine (never a good sign) the sonar and whale song that's embedded in there puts you back 80yrs (40yrs back then, can you believe that?😁) in a second. Little hidden masterpiece.

Yes, I'm a year older than Thomas myself, and did the hairpiece thing for nearly ten years in my 30's. Finally tired of all the hassles and the cost and got rid of it and never looked back. Baldness may or may not have the ´coolness´ factor now according to current fashions which are more in the direction of longer styles again, but especially at this age, it's a non-factor in my life and I'm perfectly comfortable without hair.

Your demographic would be exactly the opinion I would be interested in hearing their thoughts on Dolby’s original video : with the cultural experience you’ve had , do you think his video and song sound and look “dated” , or do you think (if one didn’t know) it has a somewhat “freshness” to it? I’m Gen X , so I remember when it was brand new , and it was a game changer and penetrated everyday conversation etc. - all anyone had to do was raise your hand in the air and yell “Science!!” - everyone knew what your were referring to .

I'm 34 and have become a huge fan over the last year or two (shoutout to George Hrab of the Geologic Podcast for turning me on to your larger catalogue!). I have a lot of loved ones who are in different places with hair loss/replacement, and I think it's so cool that you're owning this choice and embracing the control you can have over your own body! The hair looks fantastic, and I can't wait to see it in action on tour this summer!

As someone who’s married to a 64-year-old man, I absolutely love your hair. My husband has a similar color as well. I love the fact that you’re not trying to look 20, you look happy and glowing and you have every right to enjoy this. Thank you for being upfront and ignore any negative comments that may come your way. We all have to do what makes us happy and feel good. I’m 54 and I’m doing what makes me happy which is being a vegan and using a vegan ketogenic diet for bipolar disorder so I don’t really care if people say anything negative about it because I’m the happiest I’ve been in a long time. By the way, we enjoyed your concert when you came to Santa Cruz, California very much!

This is amazing and a true inspirational.video.for those who are concerned with their hair loss. I have had two transplants ten years ago.when I was in my late 40s and they worked well for me. But if I start to lose it, I'd definitely go for a hair system too. Well done Thomas. I love your honesty and sharing this with others. 👍

What a fascinating, open and authentic video-log. Just based on what he said, David is a great friend indeed - perfect response. You look so different with hair .. quite an amazing change. As David said, it's about how you feel. You looked great to me both with and without - however for the most part it's about what thoughts someone shares, which sets my perception of a person.

The hair looks great, but …
Honestly I’m mostly blown away to learn that Thomas Dolby is only 3 years older than me. That means that “The Flat Earth”, one of my favorite records of all time, was made by a 25 year old. While I was goofing around trying to figure out what life might someday hold for me, Thomas Dolby was creating music of incredible maturity, depth, and beauty. It’s astonishing, really.
Once I’ve watched this video I’ll pull out “The Flat Earth” (vinyl that I’ve owned since 1984) for the umpteenth time and give it a spin. I just checked, and it’s right there at the head of the often-played material, where it belongs.

I personally think you look much cooler bald. But whatever makes you happy and comfortable is the important thing. You are a great artist. Picasso didn’t need a hair system. I too am a bald man and really like it. Very little maintenance. When I think about all the time I wasted on my hair it’s probably an extra year I won’t get back.

I'm 55 years old, and my hair is thinning a little bit in the front now.
I always told myself that if I started losing my hair, I would just keep my head shaved. It really is stressing me out right now, which may be making it worse. My dad started losing his hair in his 20s, so I guess I'm lucky in that respect. I don't see myself taking this route for a few reasons, but everybody's different.

I noticed i was losing my hair at 18. Happened in stages. Anyway. If i were you, look at your diet. Get hormones checked. High levels of c i rtisol have something to do with it. Losing hair only reinforces it in some. If i had the cash id get mine dine. Since you only recently started losing it, look at those things. Goid luck.

Pattern hair loss is NOT caused by stress. There are some very stressed people (men) in the world who never lose their hair. Worrying that worry will cause hair loss, so you worry about worrying, is a pointless carousel to jump on and can damage you in other ways.

to quote old time elegant film star, Fernando Lamas " you look MARVELOUS !"
These days, only dullards care what other people do for themselves.
Especially performers. .everyone wears costumes and wigs .
I didnt know this tidbit until about 15 years ago..almost every black woman in America wears a wig..
lots of people use HAIR ... there are extensions and braid ins and all kinds of hair things..its a, HUGE business.
Celebrate YOU , Thomas. Its great. I lLOVE the New Look.
Now PLEASE..tell me for the sake of my sanity....,,for " I love YOu Goodbye"..WHAT IS the next line of lyrics after " Typhoon :Pierre Delayed my plane till morning....something something something from your accordian " this has been eluding me for decades .

I'm not totally sure, but I think that line is "Let the bon temps roule from your accordion," with "bon temps roule" being French for "good times roll" (so the line would be "Let the good times roll from your accordion" fully in English). I may be completely wrong, though, since I don't speak French, and I'm kind of guessing a bit (maybe Thomas could jump in and let me know if I'm at least on the right track :-P )
