This is said to be Lotus Turbo challenge for the SNES, but their are no lotus cars in the game. No, the only thing in common with the lotus games is that its by Gremlin, ok and it has some tunes from the lotus games.
Lets say this is how Gremlin wanted the lotus series to progress (a newer version without the licencing). what does this have going for it. Music+SFX for one thing sadly missing frm the Lotus games (Amiga+Genesis). I also like that a few trans have a Day/Night transittion effect. The Nitros also come n handy at times.
The Title music in the game is a rendition of the the Lotus II Ending music. You had to work had to get to hear this tune on the Amiga/Genesis, but here it is on the title screen in this game. Not a bad rendition at all, and that goes also for the other Lotus tunes used in the game. However the snes blips and blops dont live up to the Amiga Original, but good all the same.
Now the bad. The game screen area is too damn small. Graphically ...I dunno, but maybe the lotus games looked better, at least by LotusIII. The game is also too damned long, making it repetative to play in one sitting. The cheating ai can get real old at times making it near impossable to get first. Italy/Rome was easily the hardest track and took me many retries to beat it. Due to needing to pit, the front cars get too far away and even nitro doesnt help to much, even the AI racer struggles!
I chose the white car as it has high grip and low fual usage at the cost of overall speed. It made it difficult at time but being able to take corners without breaking much helps me alot.
And finaly a rant on literaly every old game, the ending is so damned unrewarding for the ammount of time put in! -

My dad’s favorite game. 20 years ago, I used to catch him playing this by himself all the time. Now, my dad’s currently fighting lung and brain cancer, plus depression. I can’t help but tear up every time I hear this game’s soundtrack.

Even 20 years ago, this game was still old. I first time played it in 1997. It was 5 years old then. When you are young 5 years feel like a life time.
Similar experience I used to play this with my stepfather around 25 years ago and he passed less than a year ago from lung cancer. Definitely a game that was fun playing

My youngest uncle and I are only years apart and we used to race our asses off on this game every Saturday night before American Gladiators back in the early 90s. Isn't that the truth. I try and surround myself with things from my childhood but it's just not the same. It's like putting a Band-Aid on a big gaping wound.
It goes even faster when technology shifts so suddenly. The 90's and the 2000's and the 2010's are so different because of rapid technological shifts and the internet. So it feels even faster for humans who are part of our generation.

So many memories playing on my big bros snes blaring Tom Petty on the boom box, we’d play for hours! I broke my foot recently which is what brought me down this RUclips labyrinth, I called him up and hes coming over tomorrow for some “ol school” as we call it, probably play mega man, rbi baseball, contra, all the classics, never get the chance to do this much at all anymore between work, wives, and kids...its fun to reminisce about the good old days when life was much simpler, i feel grateful to have grown up in that era, before internet, when youd ride ur bike to a friends house to see if he could come out and play and be gone all day till ur dad got home round supper time. How life changes, but we can still enjoy some nostalgia, now im 35 and my bro is 44 lol, fun to re experience shit we enjoyed as kids!

Played this a lot with my dad, we ended up beating the game together, along with Top Gear 2. He died from cancer earlier this year, so watching this is like being with him again.
I think my grandmother for buying me this game when it first came out. Me and my brother scream to the top of our lungs having our first second new super Nintendo game in our collection. This game will always be remembered as a classic and it is to our childhood.
I had always loved this game and I miss it so much. Thank you for this Let's Play, I am truly grateful.

I remember being around 8-9 and my mom taking me to go buy Paper Boy, they didn't have it, got this instead, and fell in love with it. Great soundtrack too!. Love coming on here and reminiscing. Especially with Killer Instinct.

This brings back childhood memories! I'm proud to have been a kid in the 90's! I remember my childhood friend and I played this game a lot whenever we were at each other's house. We were always so competitive looking for bragging rights. My friend was so good at reading my mind when I tried to pass him. He was so good at blocking me too!
I remember playing this with my dad a long time ago, my dad emulated it on his old pc and we would play co-op together, hearing the music from the las Vegas race actually made me cry, I really miss those times

Love this game. This was one of the first four video games I ever owned for the SNES or even in general. The other three were Disney's Aladdin, Tetris Attack (Yoshi Island edition), and Super Mario Bros. All Stars. I love 16-bit games.

Y la computer nunca usaba su turbo :)
No lo usaba, pero a su favor tenia otro tipo de apoyos como que los otros coches de CPU a veces no lo chocaban, no generaba friccion en las curvas, por mas rapido que fuera siempre mantenia su pocision en la pista, ademas de que no perdia velocidad sin importar que tan cerrada o abierta este la curva, y la ayuda mas molesta es que si va muy atras del jugardor aumeta su velocidad hasta llegar al tope y no baja su velocidad hasta dar alcanze o rebazar al jugador. :)
Ademas, el "computer" y el jugador son los unicos que entran a PITS, los otros 18 competidores son de energia solar jaja, bueno no, pero si es algo injusto que el CPU te quite el primer lugar por esto :)

Noidused a lo que se refiere es que los que están en posición mas adelante que tú te cierran el paso solo a tí, no a la com, ese del min. 4;42 era uno que ya se le ganaba por mas de una vuelta y fue solo casualidad porque no le estaba cerrando paso
Pero agarraba alta velocidad fácilmente
