It is not portrayed in the video but Top Gear Overdrive had a banging Soundtrack and the cars development was exceptional. Loved that game as did all my friends way into adulthood
A dubious and uninformed response! The first Top Gear was often constrained to narrow roads and it was split screen even in single player. Most impressive was the music, and the pit stops! TG2 dropped fuel stops and car types, so 2 player games gave an advantage to the player that got the most $$ on course and could upgrade sooner. In TG, some cars were better depending on track. Choosing the same car offered no advantage. Single player in TG2 was full screen and quite beautiful, despite the footage here. TG 3000 doubled tracks to 64 and returned refuelling, this time with strips on the course. It also offered a 4 player split screen limited mode. Each of the three offered something distinctive so a personal favourite could vary. For me, TG 3000 was best by miles. TG2 would be second best if refuelling remained to help compensate when one player gained an upgrade advantage. So I'll call it a draw even though the single player was superior. As to the rest, I regard the series over with TG 3000. The rest were branches. I only ever played Top Gear Rally on N64, which was really good.
@hardkoregamer1981 I loved Top Gear Rally! Controls were so deft. I really appreciated creating personal decals for the cars too. I never got Rally 2, and I think I hated Overdrive due to the horrendous rock/metal music, and sold it.
well, what i liked about 2 and 3000 was that you didn't need to race on split screen anymore, plus car customizations could give you an edge for the tougher levels, and i did like playing TGR on the N64 too. those PS2 games, though, look kind of bland. i don't know why Kemco and Gremlin decided to part ways following the 16 bit era, but the series sure suffered for it.
Nice! If you were looking for more video ideas, I had thought of the Ninja Jajamaru series. It has lasted for over 35 years, yet no one seems to have made an evolution video out of it.
@@EryxChannel2160 Quite a number of 80s series people haven't done evolution videos on actually. Gracias.
@@halbailman Have and agree with him/her. And most do. Top Gear 1 was top notch. Top Gear 2 was good but not great. 3000 fun. First one for me is great. and Brazil itself loved that one the most too
@DannyP-dm1pw You could be right, actually. Top Gear 1 had the pit stops, which added so much extra fun and strategy. Top Gear 3000 had the split tracks for variety, and low fuel recharge for anxiety!
@@halbailman I picked this up yesterday or Sunday on Steam but returned it. The music was glitching out bad and was delayed on the tracks. Not sure if it's on my end but no other games I play on Steam on my laptop have this issue and this is not a technical modern spec game. I may try and grab it on Switch now and see. I checked around but no comments online about this. I never got to really play 3000 so I'm looking forward to that (what you said)
My parents keep telling me that my favorite game used to be a top gear game where you had to avoid hedgehogs?!? Can anyone confirm if this was a real game?
The only one I ever played was Rally and I loved it. First game I learned how to shift in. But seeing all this makes me think the whole series is wildly inconsistent. None of these games look like they’re sequels to each other
Because they aren't. Only the trilogy on SNES are sequels by the same developer, Gremlin Graphics. The others are racing games not related to the original trilogy and each one made by different developers. Kemco just took the games and labeled them with its "Top Gear" brand.
3:59 is top gear host's was revealed in that video game? here's the list of who work in top gear/grand tour. 1: Jeremy Clarkson, 2: Richard Hammond, 3: James May, 4: Matt LeBlanc, 5: Rory Reid, 6: Chris Harris, 7: Freddie Flintoff, 8: Paddy McGuinness, 9: Eddie Jordan, 10: Sabine Schmitz, 11: the Stig, but... where are they?

The first top gear was like catching lightning in a bottle. It could only happen once. Shame the rest of the series couldn’t have the same charm.
A new collection consisting of the first three Top Gear games will be coming out this year, Top Racer Collection.
And a ROM hack-like version of the first Top Gear, Top Racer Crossroads
The first top gear had such good gameplay and music. A shame that none of the sequels were able to do better.

I would argue and say the top gear rally games were equally a blast to play on N64.

1 & 2 are the best.
They're remasting top gear classic

You could add the Lotus trilogy (prequels to this).
And Horizon Chase series. A spiritual successor to those. All three even share Barry Leitch as composer.
Top Gear 1 has the best music best gameplay
The first game was the best one.
Tonight on bottom gear

Nothing comes close to the first one
Top Gear 2 on Sega sucks. SNES have a way better version.😂
