Snowdin Town is such a happy place. Immediately after being thrown into an ominous environment following the battle with Toriel, you're greeted by sans, Papyrus, and this happy place! Undertale really knows how to play with your emotions.
I spent quite a while trying to figure out how to jazz this Undertale tune up, and I eventually settled on a more traditional jazz feel, as opposed to my usual progressive jazz fusion sort of stuff. I think this one turned out really well, especially the sax soli, and it's one of my best Undertale jazz renditions!

So I'm sitting in my class, listening to this song when a fellow jazz student comes up to me and asks what song I'm listening to. He's got a really refined taste in jazz, he knows pretty much every major jazz composer there is. I've tried to show him insane in the rain songs before and he's just laughed. I hand him an earbud and tell him the song is called "Snowdin Town"
"Snowed In Town?"

Honestly from the trained jazz musician's perspective your music is still absolutely fantastic and anybody who says otherwise is somehow even more of a snob than me. Sure it might not be technically flashy (I know the technique maintenance struggle as a multi-instrumentalist myself) but everything's solid, it sounds good, and it swings - and that's all ya need.
10/10 I would make a funny skeleton pun, but I don't have the guts

This cover is currently the only thing that makes it feel like winter, it's a solid 80 degrees in Florida right now and that snow on my screen is just an awful tease.

80 degrees is a bloody miracle where I'm from.
This week I chose to cover another non-boss-battle Undertale tune to get into the holiday spirit! Snowdin Town was a very simple and heartwarming area at the beginning of the game. Probably the first area where I realized that this game was really special to me.
I decided to take the classic "Big Band Christmas" approach and write this arrangement as a pretty simple medium-slow swing piece, like Count Basie or Sammy Nestico! The arrangement starts off with an light-hearted introduction, and then goes into the melody of the tune, which has been reharmonized quite a bit to make it fit better into a traditional jazz progression! From there, there's a sax solo, and a piano solo, and a saxophone shout chorus! I'm really freakin' proud of that shout chorus, it sounds so tight and the harmonies all work quite nicely! The section at 3:46 is probably my favorite part of the whole piece, with the sudden accents poking a bit of humor into the arrangement. The arrangement closes with the head and an outro!
Other than that, you may noticed that my mic is turned upside down! BUT CARLOS WON'T THAT MAKE THE MUSIC SOUND UPSIDE DOWN - no, that's not how microphones work. Anyway, by turning the mic upside down, I was able to get a really nice microphone position that picks up the entire saxophone pretty well! I've always been pretty finnicky about my microphone positions, but I think I've found one that works for me!

I am really curious what it would sounds like.
I love the little snow effect that you put on the video, it is really charming. Also, this cover feels like one of those songs that you hear on the street during Christmas time and I find that to be genuinely relaxing.
The night has fallen in USA, the snow falling in a rural area in Nevada, forming a layer of cold snow at the doorstep of a certain house. There, a person sat in the middle of the room, the fires crackling in the fireplace, and this piece of music playing in the room. "Ahhhh.... such calm winter nights, a time to reflect your years..." He said with a smile on his face.
This songs fits jazz perfectly.

Ah yes, quiet possibly my favorite tune from Undertale. It's so calm, peaceful, and it gives me the sense of putting on a robe, sitting in my recliner in front of the fireplace, drinking some hot chocolate, with the Christmas tree next to me, while I watch the snowfall in the night sky, next to my loved one.......... which I unfortunately don't have, but that's beside the point. The greatest feeling in the world is that right there, and this made me want to do just that... except it doesn't snow where I live because Mother Nature is a bitch, but whatever.

Every time I listen to this tune it helps me with my mental depress, sleeping therapy and build some romantic moment for me too lol.
