  • Jason from Fat Fender Garage takes us through the process of crafting a custom wooden bed from scratch for an F100. One could argue that the bed is the most important part of the classic truck restoration, and makes the trucks come to life. If you haven't already, watch part 1 on our channel. From lumber to truck bed wood planks to sealing and staining and getting it installed into the bed, you'll be along for it all.
Visit fatfendergarage... to order parts for your trucks, and feel free to email Jason anytime if you have questions! // info@fatfendergarage.com

Your attention to detail is admirable. I would think most shops would just glaze over such details of swirls in the wood bed. You change the entire training process in your shop. Well Done!!

Hey, I watched your staining process and finished process on the bed boards… Great video thanks what did you use for a sealer prior to the final finish… I did an oil based stain… And I would like to find some kind of a sanding sealer prior to my automotive clearcoat… What did you use for a sealer that is compatible to a wood stain? Thanks in advance.

Was hoping to see how you assemble and mount it.
Also curious if you were to lag bolt through.. how to find the holes.

Did I understand correctly that you are using a lacquer-based sand and sealer before the top “ enamel “ finish?

I like your idea of using the screws on the end of the boards. When your done finishing them, what do you do with the holes? Leave them, epoxy them, or??

Is that African wood open grain?

Would it be better if you first put water on bare wood, raise the grain, sand smooth then stain and seal?
