What's It Like to Drive a Supercharged Coyote Swapped 4wd Ford?

- We just finished up this Supercharged Coyote-swapped 1976 4x4 F150 and we're super excited about it. We completely went through every aspect of this truck to make sure it was perfect for our customer. We opted to use the original Ford factory two tone paint for a nostalgic feel, but the brand new interior we did is anything but. It almost feels like a brand new F150 inside the cab, with a few classic twists. We used our FFG Mustang Seat Brackets to install these bucket seats out of a Mustang, and they're extremely comfortable and prevent sliding across the road while putting this Whipple Supercharged coyote swap to the test on the road. Speaking of sliding, we used our Ford Pickup Seat Belt Retractor Covers to house the seat belts, and boy do they look good. (Links below). We added an FFG billet dome light to brighten up the interior. We also used the original factory grill and side trims. The Coyote with a 10 speed automatic transmission cooks down the road and it's an absolute blast to drive. Tons of horsepower with this thing for a vintage truck, especially for a longbed. It doesn't get much better than this! Stay tuned for some little burnouts at the end...

To the (many) comments mad about me saying I don't like loud exhaust: If you heard how loud it was in person, it would surprise you. The customer was very happy we changed it. It's perfect. The client was glad that I was in tune with his needs properly, and I have a stewardship to do the right thing for the client and build, especially if he doesn’t know exactly what to expect. If he came back after and said he did want it louder, we wouldn't hesitate to make those adjustments. Thanks for your feedback though!
Beautiful truck. Let people complain, this truck is perfect. Like you said there is nothing worse than exhaust drone. Well done sir.
@@ryanhudelson6377 Appreciate it!
@@FatFenderGarage back when I was 17 I liked loud exhaust 2... I wanted to hear exhaust over the engine ,the radio, my girlfriend, my mom and now that I'm older, I like to actually hear the engine... the radio, and sometimes my wife...
People who belly ache about not having a loud exhaust have not built enough trucks to understand how annoying that gets after pro long use !!! its no fun when you have to scream to your friends while driving or driving home after a nasty hangover...lol
I love it !!
How much for a truck like that ?
If us Chevy Boys were to ever say "Well there was this one Ford" THIS WOULD BE THE ONE!
Not gonna lie, I am a big Chevy guy myself, my current ride is a fairly mint 82 C20 Silverado, under 125k miles and everything works like a dream. Previous pickup to this was a 1972 C20 that was pretty rough but so much fun. I think a lot of us can agree a lot of the classic (60's-70's and some 80's) trucks and cars were all pretty nice and works of art especially when restored like this beauty.
I always liked the look of the 70's Ford pickups myself.
You got that right . my dad is a Ford guy and I’m the Chevy gm lover but if there is any Ford I could have it’d be his early 80’s f150 short bed 4x4 lifted lariat with the green and white 2 tone . I wish I could find it but he sold it before I was born . This would be a Very close second just cause of sentimental reasons
Yeah, that new Chevy blazer is amazing! They gave us Chevy fan boys exactly what we wanted!
Hah yep
The 302 coyote is the the new Chevy 350.
Classy, not flashy, sensational, yet sensible, a man’s truck, yet a woman would like: well done!
Bingo
You mean the states truck?
@@Youhaverights6 🐪
Gave the state title over his what once was private property now public interest.
I’m honestly thinking about changing the hole plan of my truck to build this, was gonna go full ok’d school cool with a big block 460 and Narly c6 trans and full old school cool on the out side, but I’m gonna find a happy medium of old school kool on the out side but modern day drive ability and ability to pass a gas station underneath
I clicked on this immediately and trust me I'm no Ford guy
Me too
This guy is my neighbor the one who owns it
I bet you are now ! LoL 😆
@@jojohintz if that’s true, do you think it would be for sale?
@@muricaman991 just buy a 4WD ford truck and put the mustang 5.0 in it with supercharger. the motor plus the supercharger are around 25k complete. then comes the wiring.
BadAss Pickup. Literally out of my dreams.
I'll give you that it is bad-ass looking but also makes huge-holes into pockets and in owner budget..
what is the miles/g or monthly consumption if truck is driven daily of this bad-ass truck.. huh ?!

One of the best restomod trucks ever! Just love the ‘73-‘79 trucks. Ordered a new one back in ‘79. 4x2 loaded with 460. 7250.00 way back then. Still have order form.
They didn't come with 460s from the factory, 400m was the biggest motor you could get.

My grandpa handed down to me his truck before he passed. It was this same model and year, I fixed it upand updated a lot of things on it but the way you guys redid this one is inspiring and absolutely amazing. Great work.
If I ever win the lottery Jason will be the first guy I call. This truck is PERFECT!
I mean... this truck wouldn't cost you much more than a brand new Ford. Which is the reason why I never understand people buying new vehicles when you could get something very close to this.
@@DaroffApFire yeah I guess you are right .
You've built some really nice trucks man ( no pimp my ride garbage) . it's amazing how you restore and still give it a modern touch and still keep the authenticity of it. Thats a real fine line many builders haven't found... Your team of mechanics ( shop crew) must be extremely proud of every truck they build.
Thank you someone else that couldn't stand PMR. They did all this work on a car or truck but then leave the busted work out powertrain in it. The add extra weight with all the sound system, gadgets and gizmos, added massive power draw on the alternator and put bigger rims and tires on for a tired transmission not to mention the extra weight from stereo system. They actually did another thing later on bof how's the ride doing and found that alot of those rides were broken down in a yard because they never did anything with the powertrain. Here in this video though it looks like they went from the ground up. the frame looks like it is powder coated, it's clean from top to bottom, sounds amazing and nothing looks out of place or rigged. I absolutely love that supercharger whine too. So yes I agree with you it's not done like PMR would do and just polish a turd sprinkle new stuff on it and say surprise.... we gave you an awesome lawn ornament, it won't go anywhere but it's got rimz and a system so you can chill at home and be the envy of every prepubescent boy in the surrounding trailer park area. Thanks xibit you gave me an expensive chair so I can sit and watch others drive while while I sit and pretend to drive dawg. Thanks for reading my rant on that waste of an afternoon MTV used to show before they sold the company to Rob Drydickhead.
You’ve gotta make sure it’s not gonna break when the customer does a burnout. Burnouts are necessary before delivery.
Thats how I felt when I was sixteen .
I agree 100%. All these channels on here selling classic sports cars I always tell them if they'd turn them tires over one time, show a little smoke off of them, they would sell em faster. I'm sorry but if the car can't do a burnout, that's a negative to me. I'd like to see that big boy light em up one time but he's going to talk us to death.
@SuperDave Miorgan someone’s masculinity is at stake 😂
@SuperDave Miorgan what does buying a new vehicle have to do with shit? I did once and realized how stupid it was for me to do that. Not everyone...but for me it was. How many custom classics have you built with your bare hands? I bet you pay someone to change your oil, don't you? See how that works?
@SuperDave Miorgan how did you suspect anything about me? I made one comment to you. Lol
This guy is so knowledgeable yet seems so down to earth
What else can you say? This is just a surreal truck and something that exists in my dreams. Astonishing what you guys have been able to accomplish. Best truck I've seen this year.
Can’t describe how beautiful this is
I honestly don't think I've wanted a truck nearly as bad as I want this exact one. I'm just beside myself right now.
SHE IS GORGEOUS!! The 70s Ford trucks are my favorite era of Ford. Keep them coming.
Wow! This guy really knows what he is doing. I really like how this truck turned out. The sound, the power, and everything else. If I ever win the lottery, I will be having this guy restore my 77 F-150.
You guys rock! Know What’s even better? the products you make available to the average consumer! No other company in this market makes products like fat fender! I’ve dealt with you numerous times while building my truck and your customer service is some of the best as well. Thank you for your great work, it’s much appreciated!
I daily a 79 Bronco and look forward to every minute of it. Wish I had 500hp tho!!!
ive got a 79 2wd long box and with a around 300hp it can be silly enough to get you in trouble. 500hp would be nice though
Phones are definitely listening to us. Im a Chevy guy and was talking to my coworkers yesterday about how I liked the 76 Ford Pickups..and BAM, here it is in my recommended. Cool truck!
i have a 1978 ford 150. looks a lot like that, owned it over 9 years, bought it at about 17 yrs old. it has the inline 6 300. its been running well this while time with very minor upkeep.
You do an incredible job at building trucks. Especially the old fords
Heck yeah! Finally a video of this truck running and driving! My favorite build you guys have done so far for sure 😉
Such an awesome car, you can really see how much time and effort you’ve put in to make it as nice as it is and then make it available to the public. I hope you sell a million of them mate!!
Our family had a 1970 Ranger F250, this brings back so many memories. What a great job guys.
Love the truck. Beautiful work. My dad had a '75 Ford, basic truck, 390ci with an oil bath filter, 4spd manual. I remember when we added power steering to it and ultimately when the power steering failed on Christmas day in the late 80's. I was driving the truck home and with each turn was adding more steering wheel turns until one left turn where the steering completely failed. It was like having a roulette wheel in front of me, the complete absence of steering. After getting the truck towed home, we began tearing down the steering and rebuilt the steering box. I remember trying to get the new bearings in the steering gear, installed them, got the truck together and went for a drive. After one right turn the truck would only turn left, would jam up going right. Got it back to the garage, tear down the steering again, had to re-install the bearings again in the recirculating ball and nut steering gear. Together again, road test again, this time it would jam up with left turns and would only turn right. So a series of right turns back to the garage to fix again. Third time got it right, installed the bearings, they stayed in place and the repair was good. The truck still exists and is used on a friends farm. Would love to bring it back and make it new again like this F150.
Not that you haven't already but... you build trucks like this and you build a name for yourself real quick! Awesome job! FFG FTW!!!
I applaud and appreciate that you drive your builds and thoroughly inspect then touch up before you let them go to the owners
Brings back so many memories I had a 77 f150 long bed ! Loved that truck ! Bad ass truck just like you said ! right on dude!
I absolutely love this restomod you did, it's my favorite truck and generation of the Ford F-150, the F-100 are also sweet. Someone had deep pockets.
Perfect execution! Long beds are the way to go!
Ok had to stop the Vid at your age and the weight loss, Dude that made me so happy, plus I was Born in 76 and I've always loved 76 ford's. I would just like to ride in it . Awesome build and good luck on hitting the gym 💪 35lbs is alot over 40. Much love and respect. Hope your customer is happy 😊. Now back to the show.
Thank you for the video! I have an older 89 F250 Custom model 2 wheel drive that I have over the years been dabbling with. I bought it 16 years ago after it's entire drivetrain was redone. Since then I've gone through it a couple times refreshing and changing little things for better performance. When I bought it, it was designed to haul a camper, with 16 1/2" rims and bias ply tires. I took it to 17" with all season radials. What a difference! With everything I had done over the years and gone around the USA 3 times working I really have enjoyed this truck. When I felt it needed a complete overhaul in March of 2021, I was still getting 19mpg on average with or without a load including through the mountains, (if I kept my foot out of it). Just normal driving and it could be a lot of fun!
In September I was done with all the machining and new, new parts. Fired it up, warmed it up and sounded great! This was 10PM, so shut it off for the night to test drive the next day.
Morning came and fired it up, let it warm up and went to back out of my Godfathers shop here in Washington.. He used to race so it was the perfect shop to rebuild it in. Like a switch was thrown it started thumping hard, jumped out and crawled underneath. Something in the area of the mains went. Backed it over by a tree, bought a plane ticket and went back to my ranch in Nevada. Turned out to be the oil pump torque on the bolts that came with it didn't hold. Never heard of bolts coming with the oil pump yet they did. The other odd thing was the pump housing holes were threaded, and hadn't seen that before! Bolts went right in and torqued to specs.
In March of 22, I came back and pulled the engine, then took to a friends professional engine shop in Olympia WA and had it completely redone with a guarantee! The transmission I had done at another friends pro shop here in Olympia. Looking forward to many more years of enjoyment! Thank you for your video! I love to watch and see what others are doing with vehicles. This is my first time seeing your channel and not the last! All the best to you and your!
Such a killer truck! Love the 4x4 Lwb.
Absolute perfection! Only thing I “may” change is do a power window conversion, but that’s only a maybe.
I couldn't pull a better truck out of my dreams! Never cared much for resto- mod's, but you changed my mind! A thing of beauty. WOW!!!
Hell yes. So well put together. Badass
Man I love this. I'd buy this before any new f150. Gotta get these before Bidens Paris Accords bans all the gas and old models trucks from the highway.
vintage vehicles have always been exempt from any requirements of the paris accord. they would have had problems 5 years ago when we joined.
probably costs as much or more.
I wouldn't. I need a vehicle to drive.

78-79 is my favorite of the Fords of that era. Would be cool to see a old F series done with that new 7.3 gas engine. The 6.2 would not be a bad one to see swapped in a old F150 also.
I'm actually looking at doing a 7.3 swap. Just thinking about it right now.
Yes. This one. Absolutely spot on- would LOVE to own this truck. Great job!

The stock bench seat that I had in my 73 XLT was one of the most comfortable seats in my opinion. I would of never put the bucket seats in this truck, but to each his own! Nice truck! My 73 was a hand-me-down from my father. I pulled the stock 360 boat anchor out and installed a lumpy 390 with a Thunderbird 3x2 intake/Holly 2 barrel carbs. It was a fun truck to drive! If you were not into the outside carbs too much, you could actually get half decent mileage running just off of the center 2 barrel.

Gorgeous truck. Love those two tones with the race track moldings. I built my all black 1979 F-150 with a transplanted 351 Cleveland and a 4 speed. Burnouts for days.
My first new truck was a 1976 Ford F-150 4x4 long bed in midnight blue. Paid $4500 for it new (bought in 77). It came with an FE block 360, 4 speed with granny low. Over the course of time I raised it 3" in the front, installed a 428CJ engine, installed a "fat" chrome roll bar with those round lights, chrome diff covers and 38" Denman ground hogs. Ripping through the mud on the banks of the Arkansas river. I was 19 at the time. What a memory that is.
