I've been a professional mechanic for 10 years and I've always fought the brake cable clips with pliers, the trick you used with the wrench was so easy and made me mad at my self for not thinking of it, haha. Nice work man keep it up
Hey, I am right there with you. I spent at least ten years using pliers until a viewer pointed that out.
Great Britain up grading the engine up to date nearly 20 years later superman longbed liftkit tires 4wd 1979 f0rd f_250 truck very simple looking and fewer.problems to go wrong if it should happen once again very nicely done ✔️ ..
Hahaha I know you get one side popped out and then try to get the other side out and then it pops back out on the other side…😂 That was super simple, I mean I knew it would work if you had something to fit it properly but I just never took the time to find the right size wrench. 😂 I believe I’ll work smarter not harder from now on. 😅
I’m right there with you guys I spent 30 years using pliers .
‘79 Ford Trucks are by far my favorite body style of any truck ever made.
Thanks Dave I can sleep better knowing this.
@Free American I have a 78 F-150
@Free American square bodies take the cake
@Free American Thanks!
@@mrjetsondc don’t be an ass dude...Dave didn’t knock on your door for a comment..you came here on your own...
You picked a great truck to restore! I'm wishing I had the talent, space, and money to pull something like this off. Thanks for sharing!
Buy an old truck and just take the time to learn. It’s so rewarding when you get done with a project and then you want another project. Those old Fords are super simple to work on. They wanted to make trucks back then that anybody could work on…
This truck came out looking incredible. I loved this era of the Ford pickups. My father had a couple of the 70's and 80's F-series pickups when I was growing up and they always served him well. This one looks great in white. Not a lot of trucks can pull that off.
Seeing the wife and kids help and encouragement with your build was a blessing. You had the best part of your build long before you ever purchased the truck. Amazing work ethic and talent. The results are absolutely fantastic.
Awesome comment. I am very lucky to have them for sure.
That is true.
I said same thing, it sucks when nobody around you shares your passion. It's a real downer.
Love these old Ford trucks, there's not a better looking truck ever built. You did an amazing job.
@@AustinCoulson What a fantastic looking pickup, 100% better looking than any new models in my opinion, my girlfriend and enjoyed seeing wife & son helping and loved the dog. Don't see many American pickups here in England unfortunately.
Love these old Ford trucks, there's not a better looking truck ever built. You did an amazing job.
57 Chevy and 55 Ford are the best looking.
Dodge Power Wagon has it beat as it was the first Work Truck. These 70's Fords do look good though
@libra8a yes, I am referring to the 1947 until 1963? I know Dodge continued to make the 1947 Power Wagon until the mid 1970's for export only and not for sale in the US.
I love Fords too. Especially’68.
@@thunderheads4103 dodges are shit tho they’re cheaper trucks for a reason and people take the model “RAM” a bit too seriously I don’t see many rams without a giant dent in the front or back because people always hit them with something and they’re cheaper trucks for a reason also go ahead and tap a 2nd gens dash and tell me what happens.... not a lot of trucks do that
I want to do this with an 89 Ford Ranger I bought for my Dad. It was the last conversation I had with him before he passed unexpectedly two years ago. I have none of the skills, but I will learn. I appreciate channels like yours that will teach me in time, even if it takes the rest of my life.
Anyone who can and does this to an old Ford Dentside is a good man. Lots of hard work, hours and money invested. Your little boy will enjoy this beast after you pass it down to him.
I bet that kid will be a top notch mechanic by the time he is 15.
Let's hope so sometimes it makes them hate it and want nothing to do with it. But let's hope dose
@Larry Hooper Funny I served and deployed and got out in '05
Yep! salute and respect to Mr. Coulson for exposing his kid into building/repairing/diy car stuff as young as possible
And a cookie monster too.
My Mexican dad thought me at 7 and I mastered it at 15
That dent work was pretty freakin amazing.
I was thinking the same thing!
That dent repair was pure artistry!👍🏻👏🏻
That was genius. The whole rebuilt and the shooting/editting. Alot of respect.
Why isn't your channel called, " The Amazing Papa Show"?? That would be amazing. 😅👍
Mr. Coulson, if you made your son's 'promo' the actual intro of every video.. I would bet money on your channel booming with referrals.. 🙂👍
@@paulbelanger7383 I agree, I think that name is a lot more catchy/marketable as a channel name.
I would definitely recommend this verbally to as many people as I know if this chamber were named “The Amazing Papa Show”
Your boys comment made it wholesome.luved it all good work ,amazing papa....
That clip earned my sub with notifications!
Awesome build, real, not like gasmonkey etc where new parts are just thrown together. Takes a lot of skill to take it totally apart like that. Kudos to you, hope folk folk to you for a build.
Great work, saving this 350 from a graveyard. Great mechanic skills, also the cookie was looking yummy :D
They called em all gas guzzlers and sent em to the crusher. Modern V6 and V8 engines aren't any damn better on fuel, they aren't and will not be anything close to as tough and reliable as the 70s trucks.
You should have included a time stamp for the cookie.
It’s not a 350 it’s a 351, not to be a dick but yea really good motor.
Second time watching this. Still just as captivating! I love the thoroughness of the job! No part is left untouched and it looks brand new. Kudos to you!
Who is this man, he did every single thing to this truck expect machine the heads?!
I'm still upset I don't have the machining equipment to do engines in-house...maybe someday.
@@AustinCoulson You need a sponsor... the QUALITY work you do, we need to get you one.
It's not unbelievable bud. I've been doing the same for years. Everything is done by myself with zero help. Started turning wrenches at age 12.
@@dieseldabz7104 awesome 👍🏾
That was great being able to rebuild the transmission.
I thought this was going to be a weekend warrior project, I was wrong. You’re a professional. Great video.
Thanks!
Thanks for renewing this classic. I love seeing them every so often on the road. My grandpa had a 78.
I’d definitely take that truck over my 2019 F150 any day of the week!!!!
Exactly what I was thinking.
Same here. In a heartbeat
I envy your talent, that was amazing. The truck looks beautiful and I am so glad you went with a 460.
Admire
The 460 was a beast used everywhere from motorhomes to pickups pulling big boats and trailers. Great engine.
I used to rebuild engines with my Dad. I have fond memories of working with him on many engines he would rebuild. It is nice to see someone younger doing it. God Bless you all. Beautiful job. Such memories I have with older trucks.
Beautiful Truck. Love seeing old iron rebuilt and enjoyed for years to come.
BEING ABLE TO DO THIS IS ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE, AMAZING TALENT .
I have to say what a wonderful job and such a nice restoration you kept it simple upgrading and repairing what you needed without taking away from the trucks design nice job

Beautiful job. So glad you restored such a cool classic!
I have received a bunch of questions on this video and almost all of them are answered in detail in the individual episodes. There are links to those in the description, but for those of you that don't have the time or desire to watch those, here are the answers to the most common questions;
Q: Why did you do all that body work and not repaint it!?
A: Because the owner and I appreciate trucks that have the original paint, and he uses this truck as a truck so it is bound to get little scratches. Also, it would have increase the cost by around 10k
Q: How long did this take?
A: 275hrs of labor over 4 months
Q: How much did it cost and is it for sale?
A: I Charged 30k$ USD for this build, and around 13k$ or so was labor and the rest parts. The owner paid for a lot of additional parts himself. I don't know the exact total into this truck including the truck itself but I am sure it's over 45k. The owner is accepting offers on it and if you email me @ acthecarguy@gmail.com I will pass your info onto him
Q: How did you learn to do this?
A: Lots of trial and error (mostly error) when I was young. I learned better techniques and how to read technical manuals in the Army as a helicopter mechanic, and last but not least, RUclips
Q: How did you become so awesome?
A: Awesomeness is passed down from the Mother. Don't believe me, look at my Sister's cookie or look at my wife wet sanding the bed, then see how proficient my Son is at engine building.
Thank you all so much for the support on this build, if you have any more questions just write them in the comments!
Awesomeness is a genetic that is passed down from the mother. Love the build.
What surprised me is how long your son spun around in that chair / stool , and the disc breaks I miss my brother
I have a 1977 F-350 2whl Dr. Camper Special that has gotten me so many compliments and cost me so much time in endless conversations, that it has become like an obsession. Part of me wishes I could've spent all the time that I spent with people, talking about how "COOL" she is, instead, taking her all the way down to the frame,as you did with this truck, but the conversations have been priceless, in the sense of admiration others have expressed for the old Ford! Besides, if she was perfect, I might never make it home for dinner and potentially costing me a divorce with my other wife!👀🤣😂
I have had endless offers from individuals, interested in buying her, but I've had no desire to part ways so far. Should I decide to, I would only do so, provided I had an individual such as yourself willing to take possession and give her the care she deserves!
Loved the video. I'm subscribing and looking forward to watching more! "AWESOME WORK!!!👍👍
!!!
@@jackpayne3996 wow, quite the compliment, thank you!
Thank you for this video. Excellent restoration of a classic workhorse. Congratulations. Done with kindness, respect and with a loving family. Big ups for your accomplishments.
I had a 78 F-250 4x4 SC...pulled the 351 and put in a 460 to pull the 5th wheel.
The 460 got us to the next gas station faster! Nice job on yours!
When I was little, my grandpa got a 95 F-350 with the 460 and a fifth wheel and I remember him driving from Denver to visit us and he used 100$ in fuel in ONE DAY and my mind was blown. I think fuel was around 95 cents a gallon back then, but I couldn't fathom how someone could use that much fuel in a day.
I have a 77' LB with 351W and love seeing these build vids. Nothing more enjoying than seeing the beginning to the end especially in one vid! All I'm saying issssssssss WOOOOWWWW. What an amazing job with EVERYTHING. Not sure if you do this as a profession or a hobby but must say you have some serious talent. Also, its so nice to see the family involved as well. Great vid & THUMBS UP!
Thanks for the kind words. This is indeed my profession, but right after this build I took a job at Powernation as the host of Music City Trucks, a new truck show they started. I'll have more details on that job in a video soon.
Agree
@@AustinCoulson could u tell me what that build cost was included labor
@@767dag check out the 10th episode of this build at the very end I go over all the finances, but it was a 30k budget but some of the parts like tires/wheels/lift kit weren't included in that
When a new truck is so expensive and ugly you’ll spend whatever it takes to renew the truck you want. I would buy this truck in a hot second over a new one. Excellent work. Aloha
DUDE! Just randomly started watching this video and at the end I noticed you were in Phoenix. Then I recognized your house. You sold me your old lincoln 140 welder a couple years ago! Still welding and getting pretty good at it. RAWAH!
Hell yea! That's awesome. I loved that welder, I still think it was better for anything thinner than 20ga than my current Lincoln. Happy it has a good home, but even happier it's getting used.
I'm speechless at the detail and know how it takes with all the hard work to a magnificent job ! Thanks for sharing!
This is one of the coolest videos I’ve ever watched. I wish I had half the knowledge and talent to be able to do this!
Nice truck! Nice dog, sister cookies… Pretty solid video bro… God Bless America…
Man you're an amazing mechanic! Wish I had skills like that.
One of the best RUclips videos I've ever seen. Had my attention from start to finish. The hard work paid off. Truck looks fantastic.
That is awesome! Living in the rust belt, we dream of having such a solid start. Beautifully done, it’s cool to see you are able to have the original paint and and then upgrade everything else.
Hi Jason how are you doing hope you had a nice day. I'm Maria from Minnesota, looking for a new friend Ok.
You and your sister are both very talented. Great job on both the actual truck and the cookie 💯💯
I can’t fathom the knuckle bustin, cut to pieces fingers and arms and back breaking man hours that went into this! Well done and something to be proud of!
Great job!
Nice, rust free and well preserved body. This is what happens when a man owns tools and knows how to use them.
Que trabalho fantástico!
Parabéns!
That is one magnificent truck. Brings back some amazing memories of my dads work truck with its 460. Now I think I will have to go and watch the whole build. Thank you so much
Thanks 👍
Hats off...Sir, you are an inspiration. Its great to see a throw-back to a no-nonsense project like yours. A driver, a mule and its yours..you win !
I have to agree with everyone else, I love the 79’ too. Had one years ago and it was a beast. Love this build, you guys are so lucky to be able to do this and have the family there too. I envy you and your crew
Amazing! I’m totally Impressed!!! I can change oil, brakes, and wiper fluid. You rebuilt this whole truck by yourself👍.
Glad to see a Father with his son....your a lucky boy little one👍
clean smooth and professional you can't ask for a more thorough job for restoration absolutely beautiful
Very good, that was a lot of work. A lot more than I would dare attempt. I love the concept of restoring decent older vehicles to be daily drivers. Uniqueness, character, simplicity, minimal inspections, low taxes, all around a winning combo. I dont think today's cars will survive to be classics, they are too complicated and will get too expensive to fix when all the electronics wear out. I'll take vintage any day.
Brother..you have some serious skills, i wish i could apprentice under you.
What a great job! Excellent attention to detail, doing everything properly. And showing the next generation how to spanner, too. When the world has gone to those boring, soul-less electric vehicles, cars like these will be truly appreciated.
Very impressed with your ability and knowledge. Satisfying to watch you bring this back to life. Thank you.
Amazing skill set. The music during the brakes sequence was fantastic.
I was thinking the same thing gonna rewind
Naa after future inspection when he's putting that first motor to bed is when the good toe tapping back drop music comes in got a little jazz - piano I think I can find a few words to sing along
Dude, I'm completely impressed with your ability and capacity to do this project with your own hands. I admire people like you who are able to develop this kind of job from the beginning to the end. Accept my congrats and admiration. It was an amazing job!
I appreciate that!
Hi. I just watched your build and wish I could give you a thousand thumbs up. My first truck was a ‘79 F150, three speed on the column with a simple 300 cubic-inch inline six cylinder. That truck pulled my boat all over the Florida keys and later a horse trailer in California. It was unbreakable and my favorite truck of my forty years of truck ownership, best looking also. Thanks for bringing back the memories.
Glad you liked the video. The 300I6 is one of my all time favorite engines. I have the HD version with forged internals and the high flow manifold that I am going to be building soon for a personal vehicle, I just haven't decided what I am going to put it in yet.
Always amazed at people that have this talent.... Great job!
Holy cow, man. That was sweet to watch all that love and care you put in. Beautiful. I'm from Illinois originally. I don't think I've ever seen an original truck that nice to start with! LOL
Hi Brad how are you doing hope you had a nice day. I'm Maria from Minnesota, looking for a new friend Ok.
Oh man, that's a pretty truck. Love those 70s Fords
Hi how are you doing hope you had a nice day. I'm Maria from Minnesota, looking for a new friend Ok.
Wow! GREAT JOB! I wish i had your skills and equipment to do jobs like this. That has to be the most rewarding feeling saving an old truck like that.
You basically made a time machine because you can drive in a fully restored piece of history.
Good on you buddy. Instant subscription from me.
Love the video, the quality of work, the joy of it all, the family... great stuff
One of the best restoration vids I've seen, you're a blessed man to have such a supportive family. Thanks for sharing, saved and subbed 👍
You are 100% right on the fam. Thanks for the kind comment
This guy is beyond a true craftsman, he is a one-man factory on his own. Excellent, impeccable, artisan work. I am honestly sorry that I am too far away to snatch this truck from him. He deserves every penny of the price he asks for his work. This is true quality through and through.
Dude this build is amazing. You are one talented person. Hats off to your incredible abilities.
Really nice all around! I've watched the entire series twice so far. Lots of inspiration for my new project. I'm about to start a 79 F-250 SuperCab 4X4. Thanks for the suggestions. That brake system is sweet! The AC system looks like a no-brainer too albeit a bit pricey. Well done series with lots of useable information! Thank you!!!!!!
Thanks! I am very happy with the brakes and the price was quite reasonable. It ended up being much cheaper than to track down a rebuilt factory booster and MC. The AC system is pricey for sure, but in Phx the truck is basically a paperweight without it for 10 months out of the year.
78/79 fords are the best looking vehicles I’ve ever seen I can’t wait to own one
How in the world does one guy have this much talent?!!!!
I have a great supporting cast...
@@AustinCoulson How in the world do you have so much time?
This truck is a keep for life and the young buck will have some great memories for life. Great video man! Best of luck to ya.
I love the fact that you didn't go overboard. Improved it over the original. Didn't go bananas on the paint.
That truck is worth quite a bit more now and has another 200k miles in it or more!
Great work, that truck is beautiful!
"The Amazing Papa Show" just got my sub!
Unreal! Speechless. I knew after the first minute i was watching the whole video. Love the time lapse. You're a wizard my friend. You couldn't have got anymore intimate with this truck. Seems like you touched every nut and bolt. The love, time, effort etc that went into it, I can't even imagine, I'd probably have a stroke. I sat back drank my coffee and thoroughly enjoyed it. Very Very few have that level of skill and talent. You the man!
man! I wish I had your skills, tools, and patience. great job!
Much as I hate "patina" with the fire of a thousand suns, I have to say that, in this case, I get it. And it's freakin' awesome. You didn't go for all-out, glittering perfection; the kind that renders the truck unusable. You pushed out the dents and patched up the worst of the finish, and, most importantly, you kept it a useful truck. Trucks are cool and I love them, because their whole gestalt is that of a utilitarian vehicle. Great build and well played, bro.
Thanks for the comment. That is exactly what I was going for!
@@AustinCoulson I'm a bodyman and it drove me nuts seeing that truck completely gutted and ready for bodywork but I get it. You don't have to worry about dents or scratches. I still would have made it perfect if it were me but you probably did the right thing.
Little mans' voice at the end, some sister love with cookies, and the wife warning (and obvious help in the cab 2/3rds in) make this a family channel. Dude, we could sub you for Sesame Street, but for some serious learning. Great job and welcome to TN!
Thanks!
wow Scotty Kilmer just moved there TN Amazing people live there. Go Predators !
What a great looking truck!!! Very nice build. I like the fact you tried to keep the original paint except for the minor blemishes. Sounds great too!!!
