Can't compliment you enough on this video and the series in general. The cost breakdown was appreciated as well. One of the things that impresses me is how many different fields you're capable of doing. Really hope there will be more projects like this in your/our future!
Thank you so much. I will keep posting videos, it's just hard to find the time with the new job. I will have an update soon on when you can see me on Powernation
Heck yeah man, that truck is definitely one of my favorites. And definitely look forward to the time-lapse. What is your next build? Im still working out the kinks on my carbon fiber dash, is a pain if you mess up, but should look pretty cool.
I am not sure what I will be able to do next. I have a personal truck I wanted to build (The 49 chevy truck that's been in the background of other videos) but I don't know when I'll be able to ship it here.
Grew up in a couple 70s ford's, last was a 79 f250 4x4 my dad had till 88 or 89. He use to buy them brand new and trade them in. 79 was when the mills shut down forever and America wasn't great anymore.
Beautiful job guys!! My Dad and I did a 2wd 79 ex cab, frame off. Spent many hours in the back seat on road trips, with a big ole cabover camper as a kid. I miss the 80's 🤣🤣🤣
maybe there's like a historic day for ford or the "date of birth" for the original truck coming up and you can release your videon on that day to ride that wave and cash in on any extra ford ad revenue.
That's a good question. I assumed it was a brake light, but since it was the wrong one, I didn't turn it on, so it very well could have been a cargo light. I think the 3rd brake light wasn't required until '92
hi amp is 220, stock for this would be a 110-120 . . serious you want dual battery's and dual charging.. not kidding. don't wait until you find out why . . . if you get into the southwest heat you might get in trouble with all those coolers stacked up as well, take the radiator coolers and split them, one each side mount them kitty corner at the wells r with electric fans . . also with such a large AC condenser blocking all the engine cooling radiator you might wanna consider putting that somewhere else it can catch air at speed with electric fans, I am sure you already know the deal ion phoenix but with a blade fan running at the speed of the idling engine its not a lot of air getting sucked thru at those hot arse stop lights n what not, she will over heat, why you want a 220 alternator and dual batteries, to run all your cooling fans,, pulling a load id be surprised if you get away with that engine fan even if you move those others.. you really want another remote coolant reservoir that circulates thru the engine and a HD radiator at least, all aluminum, 4 row 1" tubing.. seriously relocate those other radiators and that condenser, get 2 or 3 spd fans on them, soon as you turn on that AC you want that fan to hit 2 gear, when it starts to get hot at lights, 3rd gear, whats going to happen is the the engine is going to get hot and heat up the condenser, the condenser is going to try to shed more heat getting the radiator hot causing a overheating condition and nothing you can do with that engine fan at idle, nothing but overheat, shut her down, and hope the head gaskets didn't crush so thin they now are vulnerable to a blow out, then a head gasket leak and then a full nightmare . . what kind of head gaskets did they use? full metal hopefully no crush.. so crucial, even is you overheat and get away with it least your head gasket wont fail by crushing to thin.. at least get a 2 gallon tank in there, somewhere to help pre cool that coolant, they really do help, specially towing up long grades where you are slowed to 50 or so.. beautiful truck tho, I have always found them special, I took my drivers license test in an XLT 4 door crew cab with an 8ft bed, the guy that tested me was surprised because the parallel park cones had 3 inches in front and back, that's it, it was my brothers truck I don't think I ever drove it before that.. I cannot believe I got 100 on the drivers with it, i parallel parked it PERFECTLY, the instructor was shocked as well, he went and got his measure tape, 244" then took pics with the truck in the parking spot.. I believe the reason I did so well on the test was cuz I got 100 on the written and the truck was just so smooth, a low mile minter.. dunno what he ever done with it?
I go over the lift in earlier videos, but it's a 6" Skyjacker kit mostly. The tires are 37X12.5r17 and the rims are ProComp, but I don't know the offset. Seemed like 0 as I don't remember a large +/- offset
Well I'll be looking forward to when you get to Tennessee I'm in North Alabama Huntsville about 20 miles from the state line so good luck moving there my parents moved us here 47 almost 48 years ago from San Diego dad retired out of the Navy been good for our family hope you enjoy your part of Tennessee have a baby brother living in Columbia Tennessee used to be Hampshire but he's back in Columbia there's a mechanic named Scotty I believe that's what he calls it he just moved to Nashville Tennessee so if you're in the area you might want to look him up and I guess my next question what is the big reason for moving other than Better Living and lock axes hope you enjoy your move
Beautiful job! Loved watching it! Also loved the budget info at the end too, wish more content creators would add that. I'm going to check out your channel to see how Tenn. is treating you. Got the hell out of Phoenix last year, getting too old for that heat!
Nice job, it turned out great. I have one of these I'm planning on building myself except mine is just about too rusty to be worth tackling. Those beds with the tool box are friggin hard to find.
Wish I could’ve dropped down to see ya before y’all left since I’m up by Flagstaff. Just didn’t get my 7.3 rebuilt in time, but I’m sure that I’ll stop by when I finish my “RV” build on the M939.
how much would you charge me to redo my 79 f350 4x4? id like a 460 with a c6 in California? if you can message me or lmk how to contact you. love this build. great job.
Bro I love the project turned out amazing. I have an 89 Ford Custom I would love to fix for my Sunday truck. One day I’ll get my hands dirty. Again awesome work.
I am not at the moment, as I am in the process of building a new house and a custom pizza truck by myself, but if/when I am looking for new projects I will post it to the channel. 35's fit perfect on those old F150s, they should have came that way from the factory IMO
Back in the day guys used to direct the exhaust at the rear tire to heat them up for drag racing, but I think that was probably just Bro-Science as doing a quick burnout got the tires plenty hot enough to stick. I put them there because he wanted them hidden and not hanging out the back where they could get damaged if he went off roading.
I bought a new 1979 Bronco with the 400, auto, quad front shocks, traction lock, and captians chairs. Front end looked the same as yours. 1978 and 79 F series were incredible.
What a great series! I would hire you to work on my projects, that are in various stages of completion, but SoCal is a long commute. I wish you the best luck to you and your family. My kids are grown with kids of their own, but they still tell me their fondest memories are of me reading to them and telling them bedtime stories. That is the best tip I can give you, after all the great information I learned in this series. Oh a funny story about my '81 F350: I lost a pair of duals on the Alaska Highway. Back then I traveled with a chainsaw and cut down a Spruce with a 24" butt. I bucked off a 20' log and after jacking up the truck I chained and boomered it to the frame, so that it ran out behind the flat deck. I drove about 30 mils and made it home with the log smoking pretty good. It was only about 8' foot long by the time I made it home, but I made it home. It is a good truck.
What a fantastic truck, really nice job. The new trucks , while they are nice, just do not look like they are meant for any serious work, or that you'd even want to put them to work like you would the older styles. And the prices for these tech loaded new trucks have just gotten out of control these days, $ 75,000 1/2 ton trucks.👍👍
Looks good. Like the AC system a lot, looking forward to see what they come up with for controls. The drive by sounded good. Sound was on the stock side, but enough difference that people into these things will know something is up. Random story: Today I was with my nephew and there was 72ish Chevy pickup at that gas station. Nephew is like "that truck sounds like yours". I tell him it has a 12v Cummins in it, not identical but very close. Not skipping a beat he asked how many different vehicles had that engine. I'm like that engine didn't even exist when that truck was built. That threw him for a loop. I explain the owner modified the truck so he could put that engine in there. It bent his brain a bit, but the light turned on... I just removed a mental limit that he didn't even know existed. He is only 8 so I won't explain my "anything is possible". All you need is time money and GAS (Give A Shit). Run until you exhaust one of the three... but we will get there. Hope the new homestead is treating you all well. Talk to ya soon.
I think this era Ford and my 2002 Dodge 3500 are two of the best looking trucks ever made! When I have nothing better to do with $50,000, I'm going to build a 79 F-250 with a mean ass Cummins in it.
I just wanted to say that I love the detail that you go through on your builds and am really looking forward to whatever project you have next.

Thanks for putting this series together Austin. It was very informative & entertaining to watch. Truck came out bad ass ! Good luck in TN

the truck came out really good, great job, looking forward to ur next build
79’ is the best looking truck ever made.
I love the 79 too but I like the 73-77s with the split grille and round headlights just a tad bit more.
I disagree.
@@turkfebruary5836 I agree

I LOVE IT.... The Wife is Sanding with BOTH HANDS....My Dad used to say "You have TWO HANDS..USE THEM"...
Welp. That’s my dream truck. Love how it was updated but not totally ruined or ultra modified.
Super impressed, nice job. Probably will run another 40 yrs.
Whats your tire wheel set up?
maybe there's like a historic day for ford or the "date of birth" for the original truck coming up and you can release your videon on that day to ride that wave and cash in on any extra ford ad revenue.
I absolutely love the fact that you didn’t paint the truck and just polish what you had!
Great content and an awesome job on this one!!!
Did they have a 3ND break light in "79" ? I think that light in back of cab is a "cargo" light. I could be wrong,
That's a good question. I assumed it was a brake light, but since it was the wrong one, I didn't turn it on, so it very well could have been a cargo light. I think the 3rd brake light wasn't required until '92
It's a cargo light. Factory was an angled down chrome deal. Was larger than the hole. Switch goes over the driver's side seat belt on cab.
3rd brake light mandate came in 1986

I didn't think about that. Is that a common mod? I've swapped 53-54 grilles for the 55' but haven't messed with them on other years
