not really, it depended where you were, in the pacific northwest its all loggers n fisherman really drove, 4 doors too, yup, I remember late 50's early 60's international 4 door pickups,yessir, you had to have em, to get the crews up and down the hill which at times wasn't exactly the easiest thing to do it would just be havoc trying to get every employees rigg up to the landing .. you had to get personnel and gear around... only way to go, 4 dr or extended.. lotta suburbans and k5 7 and 8 seaters set up to boony cruise... forget what jeep and international called theirs,, nice tho
our logging crew cutters and bell boys had a 4 door crummy back in the day, big 428 in it, 4 spd,, lockout, warn 3 ton front n back, smitty bumpers, warn locking hubs, it WENT ANYWHERE, and the way some those fuggs drove most the time it went everywhere .. no chit, skinny tires like we all used in the day.. I puked in in her once.. behind the drivers seat, apparently more of a party rigg than anything, jaggasses, it would seat 4 up front 4 in back, and how many ever in the bed, this camper special reminds me of it big time...
Anyone that knows what a crummy is understands what real work is. Back when we was boys you couldn't give 'em away. Now they are as rare as hen's teeth. The ole Ferds were night and day better than chebbs, dudges, or goddamn corn binders. Thank the Lord for the big block Ford.
