'There should be a rewind function, so when you screw up you can go back and do things differently.' Yeah, and in games where there aren't time mechanics like this, there should be checkpoints every ten seconds (preferably with a very busty lady showing up to tell you about it), and when you've died once in a level, all of the enemies should just immediately vanish and leave you alone. Also games should listen to the player's microphone, so if anyone ever says 'not my fault/this is bugged/beginner's trap' then they get a $1000 donation to their Patreon account in compensation.
Love how Phil complains at the end that the game didn't have any story behind it, but yet what does he do when games do have story behind them? He fucking ignores the story or isn't smart enough to follow along!
There's a part where the game itself mocks the main character for saying that it's about "Just killing red dudes" at one point. There's a comment to be made here, but sadly this game has no plot so I don't know what it is.
+Goblin Rat Necroing this comment section for a moment. *SPOILERS AHEAD* The plot of the game is that an AI has become sentient and all of the fail-safes have been disabled by it, so the developers of the AI have created superhot.exe as a game to pass around to players who use up the AI's processing resources by playing the game in order to stop the AI from killing off humanity. The "system" (the creators of the AI) thus monitor the players and attempt to trick the players into integrating with the AI in order to make them permanent players of the game. The AI manages to find out and tries to stop the players from doing this, but it fails and you integrate with the system in order to become a permanent player. After integrating with the AI, you become a part of the machine, and the system urges you to spread the game via social media (in game) and to play the game forever, because the more players there are, the more the AI is held back for humanity. It's an allegory for the modern video game market, where the game creators funnel players down a hole into the gaming community and try to trick them into becoming permanent buyers (read: moneybanks) for their video games (an example of this would be Call of Duty more recently), but since that would be too on the nose and might end the devs up in hot water, it also has another antagonist in the AI, so that it's not too obvious. This can be shown with the "Share it to your friends!" and "It's the most innovative!" comments that you see. That's not the game shoving its own head up its arse and sucking itself off. You're supposed to see that, think "Well, that's just uptight and a little presumptuous! Games shouldn't assume that they're good!" and then refuse to spread the game, and hopefully do the same for other games that don't deserve the hype they get. That's what's expected of you from the game.
"Why would he flinch from a cellphone?" Er, if someone threw a MODERN cellphone at you with enough force and aimed right it'd make you flinch, let alone a brick from the 80's.
5:30 Had to play it back a couple times of Phil admitting he fucked up and it wasn’t a buggy game mechanic. Also does Phil honestly go through life on the Caboose rules of “I can’t see them, then they can’t see me”? If enemies aren’t right in front of him then they must not exist. They just spawn in when he isn’t looking at them. No situational awareness.
This is one of the few games I've seen where shotgun blasts from long range actually hurts people and isn't just as consequential as being pelted by cotton candy.
how can he fail at something that easy? time is fucking stopped phil, don't just stand there when you see a bullet going towards you, maybe you should move? NOPE thats not the DSP way, he has to get hit and complain about it being the games fault....
He complains how its too short, yet during the game he complains about how tedious and grindy it was getting. Pick one. A longer, more boring game, or an intriguing, shorter, more fun game. Although I do admit It is too expensive,
I like to imagine that the story behind this game is that your character stole and took some sort of crazy new drug from a gang or whatever (explains the whole trippy slowdown mechanics), the leader sends his goons after you (explains the red dudes) right when it kicks in and you go on the craziest drug induced trip/killing spree ever.
Which is the worst to you? Phil's ear-grating fake walrus laugh, the sex and toilet humour that he reused since 2008 that are now more pathetic than funny or when the commentary hit a nose dive when Phil can't grasp the concept of the story or mechanics of the game. To me I can't stand any of them and makes my mind rot and my ears and eyes puke when i see it in his playthroughs. Why does this guy still have an audience when we all know Phil doesn't care anymore. Who gives a shit about quality videos when you can scam your fans on Paetron for thousands or just upload as much videos as possible every day to get quick easy views for your multi-channel network overlords.
The part that annoyed me the most is that he wants a rewind feature in this game instead of restarting the level when you die, basically making it impossible to lose. The game is already easy (story mode at least), rewind would take away the little challenge the story offers! It kills me how easy and dumbed down DSP wants every single game he plays to be. Any game that is a challenge to normal people is "bad game design" or "broken" or "unfair" to DSP, and if game publishers design their game difficulty around people like DSP, games will be ridiculously boring.
Why does phil always reiterate what just happened, even when the game does that itself visually, it just ruins the experience for the viewers and strokes his own ego, which at this point is so large it doubles his weight.
Phil's commentary is shit, but having the game go "Super. Hot." after every level was more grating that Phil. Haven't played it, but it feels like the game is up its own ass.
You are correct. Decent gameplay concept fucked up by self-important, metatexual hipster bullshit rather than just exploring and developing the concept as much as possible and including editing tools for people to expand it as they wish.
Its not just Phil, its also that this game is more than terrible and overrated..OH IT HAS 1 FEATURE YOU CAN EASILY IMPLEMENT WITH THE ENGINE, HOW INNOVATIVE..the alpha they did in serveral months looked better than the game they did in "years"
I was so excited to play this game for weeks,I bought it and it was so quickly done. I was so disappointed. I know the challenges etc but I agree with you,the gimmick is creative on concept but doesn't really work much in terms of staying fresh
RENEGADE FROM 2070 It is not even THAT special or creative for that any idiot can implement that actually /= Its so poorly executed, if they would have down way more it could have been great and nice but this..I was excited too but I feel dissapointed, well, Im glad I did not bought it so I felt relieved I did not wasted my money on something like that
there's no such thing as something being "overrated" of people like it they like it. you name me 3 other games in a decade that have done something this simple yet unordinary

yyes
There is such a system. It’s called Respawning.
Love how Phil complains at the end that the game didn't have any story behind it, but yet what does he do when games do have story behind them? He fucking ignores the story or isn't smart enough to follow along!
+the Losts (NGC Reviews and skits) so true lol

but... the game did have a story
Maser209 Are with us? Are you part of the system?

Of course will wants a rewind feature. We all know how much he abused this feature in every game that had it. Takes all the challenge out of the game.
Nihilus
Even if there was a rewind feature that is implemented well, he'd say it was GAWBAGE!
This is one of the few games I've seen where shotgun blasts from long range actually hurts people and isn't just as consequential as being pelted by cotton candy.
mainly because its always a 1 hit kill
Ahem *snorts and burps*
My rage in this is Superhot!
how can he fail at something that easy? time is fucking stopped phil, don't just stand there when you see a bullet going towards you, maybe you should move? NOPE thats not the DSP way, he has to get hit and complain about it being the games fault....
This just might be the most painful one yet. Him trying to take out The End was way less terrible.
He complains how its too short, yet during the game he complains about how tedious and grindy it was getting. Pick one. A longer, more boring game, or an intriguing, shorter, more fun game. Although I do admit It is too expensive,
Grindy? Lolwut.
When I hear him laugh, I want to choke him... does that make me a bad person? ^^
nope not at all ^_^
Nope, everyone else wants to choke him as well.
Make a wish, guys! He admitted the fucked up.
9:15 .... couldn't get 10 minutes without him succumbing to his basic instincts to blame the game and not himself
only he would call a game where time stands still "Cheap" ... you literally have all the time in the world.
So does phil not know you can throw weapons at enemies
"Elevator Pitch"
Looks like we're in a cell?
Correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't adding a rewind feature break the game? Seems like Phil doesn't like any challenging games.
The system will set you free, the system will shape you, Mind is software, Bodies are disposable, the system will set me free.
Super
HOT

Goddamn, I loved this game but remembered thinking the campaign was too easy... and then there's this....
Lol Phil doesn't even listen to the plot at all. Also 20 dollars for a game isn't that much
"I'm not a children's entertainer"
This has to be one of the most annoying commentaries from DSP I've ever heard.
Which is the worst to you? i love to see him do the vr version
painful playthrough, dsp cant get immersed in games and has no style
He's only immersed in Patreon's money.
yeah superhot is a turn-based game
24:45
Watching this gives me constipation

Why does phil always reiterate what just happened, even when the game does that itself visually, it just ruins the experience for the viewers and strokes his own ego, which at this point is so large it doubles his weight.
Well, he prides himself on his live reactionary commentary (it's so much harder than editing!) but isn't actually very good at it so has to default.
I just had to click on this knowing how horrible this guy is at timing (from Mirrors Edge) and that this whole game revovles around timing. xD
Gotta say the game's pronunciation of the word "Hot" triggers me more than DSP here.
"Super Hote" "Super Hote"
It took me 3 hours to beat this game and I did better than him
Phil's commentary is shit, but having the game go "Super. Hot." after every level was more grating that Phil. Haven't played it, but it feels like the game is up its own ass.
