I ride these bindings on my Dancehaul 157, using the medium bushings, and the heel strap in freeride mode, with 32 boa boots. This is my daily driver here at Hood. Good on the groom, good on the side hits, not a big jump or rail guy but good at hitting side features in the park. I like the skate tech better compared to the malavites that I switched from.
I also just picked up a set of Nidecker Supermatics for this year which I will be pairing with a Jones Stratos 161w for those heavier snow days. The Supermatics feel good on the living room carpet so we will see…Have a good season everyone, thanks Avran.😎

Agree. These are my favorite low angle pow binding. I think I'll call them and see about ordering some of the new toe straps as they look much improved from the old ones.

Thanks for the video! I usually use Burton cartel X and Malavita on my boards. This season I bought an older version of these (different heel straps) and tested them on my 160 Jones hovercraft. The skate tech does make it noticeably more responsive than my other bindings. At first I did not feel any difference, but when I switch back to my cartel X, I immediately felt it not as quick and clean when it comes to edge-to-edge transitions. However, the heel straps on these Jones mercury are far less comfortable than my burtons (maybe because they are older version). Especially when I try to press hard on my toe side edge, the pressure from heel strap makes my feet hurt. Also my feet felt exhausted after using them for a full day of riding, which never happened on my burton bindings. I just bought a new pair of heel straps (like the ones in the video) and I will see if they make the bindings more comfortable.

I had the 2022 Mercury's and the Now Pilots before that and I've shelved them both in favor of the Rome Cleaver. The footprint of the Now binding platform is oversized in my opinion and the footbeds are excessively long, which creates more overhang than necessary. The Rome's in size L have a more streamlined design that fits my size 11 boots much better. The highbacks on the Mercury's also seem to be comparatively brittle.

Still think there is a trade off in adjustability, perhaps that is why it is loved by some and not loved by others.
On a regular binding you can adjust the toe heel drag by adjusting the heelcup.
On a more basic binding you have to resort to using the adjustability on the baseplate. While it can work for a simple binding, with Now and Jones bindings, it causes the pivot point to be closer to one edge of the board.
Perhaps Jones and Now should develop the sizing so that the most common foot size falls in the middle of their size range

How does the skate power transmission compare to something like the Flow power triangle and, to an extant, regular bindings like the K2 formula? Does it actually allow for better grip, specifically on icy surfaces?
I'm +230lbs living on Ice Coast and I would be more willing to get a pair, but I wear size 14 boots and the largest Jones or Now go is 13. I'm mostly concerned that I'll feel any toe overhang if there is any and I'm not holding out hope they'll bump up to my size for 23/24.
I ride the Aviator 2.0 and I consider myself barely intermediate at best, if it helps in your assessment.

How does the Mercury compare the Katana? Is it stiffer in freeride mode?
I have a Korua Otto with Katana and im looking for a second pair of bindings for my Dart.
Is it worth buying a Mercury or a Now Drive for the Dart, or just ride it with Katana?

You're going to get more power out of it from the Skatetech. It also has less lateral play due to the skatetech and unibody construction. For a Dart I'd go Mercury or Drives over a Katana, but that's me.

Love the ways these ride but the toe strap ladders are a big let down. Able to get the slack out and when I go to give them a couple more clicks to tighten them, the ratchet slips. The angle of the buckle and ladder is off and can’t really be adjusted. It’s like only half the buckle makes contact with the ratchet. Going to exchange them and try again, I like them enough to swap out for Burton toe straps if I keep having issues.

I’ve been riding these for a month and have previously ridden the NOW IPO and Pilot. The Mercury keeps giving me problems. The ankle strap sits really low and crushes my instep in a way that non of my other NOW bindings have. And the biggest problem is that about 60% I hit a jump or ollie the ankle straps come undone. It’s incredibly annoying and if the toe strap had the same problem I’d “eat shit and die”

I ended up switching to the Rome Katana. After 7 years of using SkateTech bindings I have to say I prefer the benefit of the Katana customization to the marginal edge power gain of SkateTech. Medium is...medium. Hard seems to mostly negate the skate tech unless you're REALLY laying into a carve, edge hold seems a bit better than a standard binding.
