After spending 2 months in Thailand and exploring what the north of Thailand has to offer, we are leaving Chiang Rai and taking a bus to the Laos border (Friendship bridge)
In order to to Loas from Chaing Rai, we needed to hop onto a local bus at bus terminal 1 and then get dropped off on the side of the road, where a tuk tuk will take us to the boarder. This will be the first time we take a tuk tuk to a boarder. We did not know what to expect at the Loas boarder but it seemed pretty simple to cross. Once we were stamped out of Thailand, we headed over the Mekong river towards Laos. The Mekong river is the
th longest river in the world.
Once we arrived at the Loas boarder control, we got our visa on arrival, and hopped onto the back of a van and headed to Huay Xai, A little town on the boarder of North of Thailand. We are super excited to explore Laos as we have many activities planned in this country and i guess this will be our first impressions of Laos.
Just a hint, this country is blowing us away!

As an Aussie hearing a South African accent is so strange. It’s an English speaking accent that sounds so foreign but so calming. Enjoy Laos
There actually a few different South African accents. Amoung white South Africans, you can group them into two categories:
1) Afrikaans-speaking South African accent - These are of those who are descendents of Dutch settlers in South Africa. And they speak a language called "Afrikaans" which is closely related to standard Dutch spoken in the Netherlands and the Flanders region of Belgium (though, it has gone its own way and has a distinct, seperate standard form). But from what I've observed, many Afrikaans speakers can speak English at or almost at a native English speaker's level.
2) English South African accent - These are of those who are descendents of British settlers (though, I'm not sure if people exclusively from England settled there, or from other parts of the UK as well).
I think Daniel and Leanne fall under the first category, hence why their accent sounds a bit "foreign". I've noticed that people in the second category tend to sound a bit more British/English, but still distinct.
Hello nice friends, Nice to meet you in Laos. That is a lovely country like China. The supermarket owner treated you so well. Some shop keepers never speak with customers much, even in our country, some shop owners are like that. They must speak with customers or tourists so well

Laos border is quite easy. We’ve done it 3times. Our bus took us to the border and from border to friendship bridge is like 5-10min drive. 20 baht.
It was a very easy border, simple and easy :) wish all borders were like that :)
@@thebuddymoon agree. If only all borders were that chilled. It’s a very small dorpie. Vientiane is bit better. I’m sure y’all were there.
Although things may not always fall into the plans.... but it's all part of the experience ...the journey..... Not everyone has the chance to do something like this..... Transport prices seems reasonable ..... Pretty decent accommodation as well...I'm foodie , so anything that is local.... I'm good.... Still , an amazing vlog.. As for currency with lots of zeros. Just don’t focus on the zeros and take the “Thousand” as you would Rands, Bucks or Quid.
So when they say 100,000 just consider it 100. Then 20 = 1USD
Mexico in the late 80s revalued it’s peso by knocking off three zeros.
The 50,000 Peso Note, stayed totally the same. Except where the zeros were, they printed Pesos Nuevos
Thats exactly how we deal with currencies that have loads of zero's😜 it is by far the best way to work with them😁
Just fyi a sim card to buy is 20,000 kip so she made a nice profit there 😅.

When you leave Chiang Rai fit for Laos. What was the name of the hotel and what part of Laos did you visit first?

I have been living close to 10 years in SEA, I traveled a lot so gonna drop my 2 cents for you guys. Film more quality contents (nobody cares about fried rice or traveling by bus car UNLESS amazing scenery or great interactions with locals if not, make it short). Go to the local markets where you can buy clothes and do some bargain videos, people love this kind of content. If you want to do food contents, think crazy food that most people are unaware about like in Chiang Mai 'dancing shrimps' who are a meal made of live baby shrimps.
If you are in Vientiane now, do a video about what do in Vientiane, cool bars cool restaurants, markets, hotels etc. Vientiane is a hot spot for all the foreigners living in Thailand for visa run so you should get a lot of view if right RUclips title video and right content etc.
And more interaction with locals, try to find some interesting people where you are and chat more with them, if they are nice/cool bring them around for a local guide tour, they gonna know the best top secret spots who are not know for most foreigners so again, super interesting.
